  1. That's actually a pretty good comparison. His song-writing style is very left-field. But I'd argue he covers darker subject matter.
  2. Intense is a pretty goo description of it. I knew nothing about the guy when I got it. Have since read a couple of interviews with him. It's a fantastic album, but wouldn't recommend it if you need cheering up. But the way he writes about the things he does is incredible. Really distinctive. I Hate This Town is a great track.
  3. First single off this album, GMF. Got it me hooked on this guy. ekFWPsXXcg0
  4. General Grievous was such a disappointment. I remember seeing him in the original Clone Wars (the animated one by Tartakovsky), and they had him fight in such a bizarre, unorthadox way. It was really interesting to watch. Then in the film, he just windmilled at speed. Potentially fun character totally wasted.
  5. John Williams is now attached to score the next Trilogy. SO at least it will sound pretty, if nothing else.
  6. Okay, everything but Cut the Crap. In fairness, I think even the Simonon has denied it's existence. I usually go from Combat Rock to the Mescaleros.
  7. Totally forgot about these guys! 8. Not sure if it was her doing the vocals on this track or not, but Kim Shattuck from the Muffs is filling in for Kim Deal on the latest tour. It;s not the same without Deal, but she seems like an interesting fit.
  9. Another vote for Public Service Broadcasting. I think Jake Bugg seems like one of the more obvious choices this year. Which could hurt his chances. Everything Everything on there would be nice as well. F**k Buttons would be amazing, but I can't see it.
  10. Has anyone listened to the new John Grant album? Only recently discovered him and this has been one of the best albums i've heard all year. GMF's one of the best singles I've heard in a long time. (I can't like to any videos as I'm still new and could be a bad spammer)

I wouldn't be surprised to see him move onto some solo work

This is a band I haven't listened to in years. Need to get caught up what they've been up to. Thanks for the reminder!
  13. I imagine he's been mentioned, but there's a large J Mascis-shaped hole in that list as well. He's guitar work is incredible.

I loved the firsts eries (big Ianucci fan), but still haven't seen the new episodes. How do they hold up?
  15. I was the same as grebo at the start, just couldn't connect with it. But as with most of big albums this year, it took a few listens. I'm now head over heels for it. Fairweather Friends has become one of my favourite QOTSA tracks. The personel list on the album is insane, (' Trent Reznor – vocals (tracks 6 and 7), kick and snare (track 6)' from Wiki).

Season 4 was a mess. It was just unoriginal re-hashes of what they did with the first 3 season, missing the point entirely. Harmon back is great news, it really shows how influential he was when it comes to the shows vision. Donald Glover leaving breaks my heart though. I respect his decision, and it's come through in his music before that he'd want to move away from the show ('My clique should be cancelled, Freaks and Geeks'), but still. Not going to be the same without him crying.
  17. Wasn't sure how I felt about Bagboy at the start, especially with the 'Kim-a-like' vocals in the chorus. But it is a great track. So happy to have them back. Gutted I didn't get a ticket for any shows though
  18. The guy from Sum 41 is one obove Jeff Hanneman from Slayer. Someone is having a laugh there. Randy Rhodes really needs to be in that top 10.
  19. Missed them the last time round Leeds, intend to correct this in November. For me the album is on par with All Hail Bright Futures by ASIWYFA for album of the year. Vinyl has barely stopped playing in my house. Even got the housemates addicted!
  20. Melon Collie needs to be on that list. It was the first thing that popped into my head. Blonde on Blonde and London Calling top that poll for me though. \m/ Probably not worthy of the title 'greatest', but I love Yellow and Green by Baroness.
