    Might get some more Beyoncé tomorrow seeing as Radio 1 posted a proper playlist update today. To be fair, there's a lot that needs to be removed from this playlist so I'm reckoning tomorrow could see some significant change!

     

    EDIT: I tell a lie, maybe we won't be getting another playlist this week. Will check the official website on Monday to make sure :)

    New single from Stylo G called 'Move Back' follows 'Badd' and 'Soundbwoy' (which reached #18 in the charts in June last year).

     

    The song has a catchy Dancehall vibe and I can see it doing quite well with the right backing! :P

     

    What do you guys think?

     

    I'm not sure if they're doing the New Music week next week where all the evening/night presenters take over daytime. They normally do the first full week of January.

    Just wanted to post this from Compare My Radio (http://bit.ly/KbFBnF) following on from a few posts about 1Xtra playing more and more Urban Dance.

     

    Find it quite interesting that in the past month the top 3 tracks played are from Gorgon City, Sigma and Sub Focus!

     

    Not sure what the rest of the year has been like but I have to reiterate that I think it's brilliant they are not shying away from playing dance-like songs. I know many of you have said that this has been the case in the past but it just seems surprising to see it supposedly being preferred/played over the typical R&B/Hip-Hop!

     

    Not complaining or anything though :P

    Trevor Nelson played Tinie's new one yesterday and it does sound good on the radio but I would've preferred Mosh Pit or Don't Sell Out as the next single, though it'll probably be Someday if we get a fourth single.

     

    Have to say I'm also quite pleased about DJ Fresh, Clean Bandit and Katy B (and Disclosure moving to the A List), it's been great to see urban music move to embracing some good dance this year and I hope it continues for quite some time :D

    It is quite similar to Radio 1, especially in terms of popular tracks.

    Stuff like Busta Rhymes, Giggs, P Money and even Timbaland these days tend to just appear on 1Xtra and climb up the playlist.

     

    Also many tracks tend to have more longevity on 1Xtra's playlist.

    I believe this is Week 12(!) for Breach, Week 11 for Storm Queen and Week 10 for All About She whereas these artists will probably only appear for a few weeks on Radio 1 at most.

     

    I think there's a good balance between popular but also specialist stuff on 1Xtra which is what makes it so appealing :)

    Heard this new song 'Cinnamon' on Zane Lowe again and Phil and Alice.

     

    Probably quite specialist I know, but not unheard of :)
