Nobody should need to care that The Voice Australia is back on TV, and while last week we had a gracious reprieve of Lewis Capaldi in the top 50, we can't always be so lucky so auditioners on The Voice covered two of his songs in two days. For the first time ever, "Before You Go" hit #1 on iTunes which is enough to get back into the top 50. They also covered "Bruises" which you might scarcely recall was also covered on The Voice Australia last year which is how it got its solitary week in the top 50 before. Despite the fact that this was on the Sunday of last week, the magic of streaming momentum means that he'll probably still be climbing again next week. As predicted, Billie Eilish leverages big vinyl sales to manage a 2nd week at #1. The highest debut of the week comes from Youngn Lipz, one of the bigger names in the modern wave of Australian hip hop most noted for the ARIA Charts' severe inability to keep up with it. Riding off a run of moderately popular singles, local singer MAY-A charts for the first time with an EP. A similar result with a different approach is true of Tom Cardy, who is largely famous for appearing on triple j radio to do song parodies. Lil Nas X interrupts the top 5 but might have trouble getting higher at the moment, in part because Billie Eilish looks to vault ahead with "Happier Than Ever", though in saying that, its longevity is not certain to me considering radio will hate it and Spotify is already withdrawing support. If you were just thinking to yourself 'how dare radio pay dust to Billie Eilish, I'd like to see what they think is more essential airwaves material, then I present you the next highest top 50 debut this week. Just this past week it posted the highest weekly airplay figure since Adele's "Hello", and it's Melbourne-based producer Jolyon Petch's blast from the past cover of...Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams", a song which is still in the ARIA top 50 right now. It curiously features vocals from Reigan Derry, who followers of Australian pop culture of the last 15 years might recognise from her stint on Australian Idol where she performed a cover of Karnivool's "Themata", as one half of pop duo Scarlett Belle who had some minor hits in the early 2010s, and then later in her stint on X Factor. In all honesty the cover isn't that bad and even has a low key "Blue Monday" vibe to it, but it's yet another case of the powers that be insisting that we pay disproportionate attention to FAMILIAR MELODY, as in the past year we've seen extended stints at the top of Hot Hits Australia for Brando's "Look Into My Eyes", Wiz Khalifa's "The Thrill" and now this, all doing the bare minimum in response to this monstrous leg up. Silk Sonic also return though are having trouble getting off the ground, while mixed in with a lot of Billie Eilish entries is a new entry for Shouse whose "Love Tonight" has long had streaming traction but is starting to blow up in part thanks to a David Guetta remix although the lion's share of its streams are coming from the 2017 edit. Billie Eilish had the best selling album of 2019 so it should come as no surprise that she scores her 2nd #1 this week. Curiously her vinyl sales don't seem to be counted yet so if they get added to the mix this week she likely will be able to retain the top spot. Prince scores a posthumous chart entry at #5 which is also his highest debut in nearly 20 years. Tasmanian country group The Wolfe Brothers score their 3rd top 10 album and highest ever charter at #6, which slightly surpasses the #7 peak set earlier this year by fellow members of our smallest state Luca Brasi. I also want to point out because ARIA album SEA stats are often impossible to make sense of that I noticed a decline for Pop Smoke's first album, which I attribute to "Dior" being re-allocated to "Faith", which I suspect will stay as such long term even though the former will likely long outlast the latter. Isaiah Rashad also gets his first ever chart entry here.

That'll probably change next week with "Industry Baby" which is Lil Nas X's 3rd top 10 hit and now Jack Harlow's highest charter. It's just ahead of "NOT SOBER" which will probably take a decent decline next week but it's not rapidly exiting the chart either. Or at least it doesn't feel like that but on the other hand, the #20-#50 section on the chart is remarkably close right now so who's to say it's not possible to have a sudden decline, like how "Motley Crew" was #50 on Spotify just yesterday. In another sense, this weird set up has possibly helped "Friday" now become the longest running top 20 hit without hitting the top 10, as it's spent the last 20 weeks between #12 & #20. Dave gets his first ever top 50 hit, and it's even Stormzy's equal 2nd highest charter behind "Ain't It Different". Sleepy Hallow gets his first top 50 hit though his name was misspelt on ARIA up until this week. "2055" will likely vault up the chart again next week. On the other hand, Camila Cabello's debut will likely not, seeming to debut purely thanks to inflated Hot Hits Australia enthusiasm which has toned down leaving it stuck just outside the Spotify top 50, possibly waiting for Billie Eilish to free up space. Conspiracy theory time, Spotify's Thursday night update was exceptionally late and who's to say that ARIA even got it. Probably not considering how steady the lower end of the chart is but either way, we have a new #1, with the dark horse prevailing and The Jungle Giants taking it. They'd previously not quite gone top 10 with their buzzy debut and super popular 3rd album (not the 'troubled' 2nd album). That 3rd album was so popular that despite having no charting singles, it's probably housing 4 different platinum singles. After that I got to see them play a free show near where I live which is pretty cool and they've since taken up the Tame Impala reins of scoring top 100 charting entries following Hottest 100 top 10 performances. Their two big Hottest 100 hits both feature on this album even though the first of them came out 2 years ago now. They beat out The Kid LAROI's re-re-release which only gets to #3 meaning that despite what I said last week, it's probably actually a victim of the streaming rules because it no doubt had high streams well deep of the 10 track stream limit. I also wrongly speculated Dave might outpeak KSI, where he does beat his latest album, but not his previous #4 peak, nonetheless Dave joins statistically elite company by reaching #5. Leon Bridges has a bit of a come down after two #8 peaking albums to reach #25, while Descendents get only their 2nd ever top 50 album, perhaps with this money Milo will be able to go back to cool leg. Next week is very likely to be Billie Eilish's #1 position for the taking, ahead of Prince, The Wolfe Brothers & Isaiah Rashad.

I've played so few actually new games that Kaze & The Wild Masks wins just by being a competent DK Tropical Freeze etc knock off. If we expand it to older games, then though I started it last year, Slay The Spire has had me hooked like no other game.
