I agree they don''t necessarily need to go the duets route, and a Beautiful World-type album would be a good step in the right direction, but I think that maybe they simply cannot recreate the magic anymore. Most very successful bands and singer/songwriters reach a peak of their creative talent that they are unable to recreate, in fact, nearly all of them. Maybe collaborations is the key for them to break out of their box.

Yes, duets is a good idea. They need a new dynamic. I am really a TT fan as a result of Gary Barlow's first solo album, but by the second album many songs were too MOR, boring, lacking originality. I feel the same is happening now with the three of them. They could do with some fresh blood.

Thank you for your reply Pippa. I am very disappointed with their last few albums. I actually thought the Gary Barlow solo album was the best recent work. Maybe there is just too many other projects. The songs feel like maybe they didn't make the cut in previous albums. Yes, I agree they have experimented, but maybe they need to collaborate more to get back their groove.

I say this as a big Take That fan. Unfortunately they are not producing anything that is going to sell particularly well. Their music is not exciting or moving. This is the band who gave us great songs like Rule the World and Back for Good. Why would anyone other than existing TT fans buy their new music, even after they have had millions of pounds worth of free prime time publicity? Of course, music making isn't all about making hits. It's about making music. But I feel they are now just going through the motions and their hearts aren't really in it.

They weren't doomed. They just aren't making good music anymore - good as in having wide appeal. So, yes, I agree that Giants wasn't the right song, but they are about the most famous British band, second to the Beatles. They have only themselves to blame if they have lost their ability to make a song that people get excited about.

Despite the poor sales, it was good to hear TT do something different. I hope they continue to try different sounds and different collaborations.

I am glad you and many others enjoyed it. I didn't see anything original. It sounded like a hundred other generic musical numbers. Not the kind of song people are going to be singing the next day after hearing it. Maybe that was the intention. I don't blame Gary Barlow. T.he production of it and the performance could have moved to the next level. It reminded me of a school production.

I agree. Howard may not have a great voice, but that is the case with many singers in successful bands, including some lead singers. A song can be written and produced that allows for a more raw vocal. I remember GB saying he wrote The Day After Tomorrow for Mark and took into account Mark's limited vocal range. A jerky kind of thing to say to the media, but Take That as a threesome looks stupid if it looks like Gary Barlow and two backing singers.

It seems that way, but I am sorry if I offended anyone. I thought I had made it clear numerous times that I am a GB fan. In fact he is the reason I am now a budding songwriter. If I created a problem or any bad feeling, I am sorry.

That was also suggested in the documentary. 4/ Maybe I heard a different song to you.:P 5/ I don't think that is the issue. 6/ AKA demotion!:P 7/ I doubt Gary is too timid to insist his bandmates' backing vocals aren't drowned out. 8/ I agree. Personal insults and unsubstantiated allegations are not acceptable.

Take That are still seen by many as uncool - a manufactured band or a gay band, and so it might be a way of looking cool or non-gay to criticize TT/Sigma. But at least things have improved from the early TT days when the core fanbase consisted of teenage girls and gay guys. Not that there is anything wrong in that, but songs like Back for Good, Patience and Rule the World really expanded the audience, and those teenage girls are now in their thirties. Robbie Williams, during the peak of his solo career, appealed to all generations, and that helped. However, that broad span of Take That audience has been shrinking in more recent years, largely due to the choice of music.

I could not agree more Delta, but some people just enjoy complaining for the sake of it. If Take That had teamed up with any act, there would be those who would moan about it.

No, I wasn't paying GB a compliment. I don't give GB any leeway in how he conducts himself simply because I think he is one of the best ever songwriters and a very good vocalist. I am not an obsessive fan who thinks he is beyond criticism..
