Gonna come back for this one! been meaning to for a few months but life's been busy and my atrocious time management skills I was known for haven't improved much with age  But I finally have some time and a good entry too (drum & bass from the 90s)

(also I should've joined last month to spare cece natalie the fate of getting 21st - she's a friend of mine and her album is fantastic so everybody should stream regardless x)

Finally confirmed - was stuck between a few options but decided to go for another Spanish-language bop. I really really appreciate all the support that 'COLMILLO' got last month by the way!! I didn't get the chance to say anything about it last contest. ik I'm often late to vote/don't vote but this was one time I really was determined to before the flu killed my brain cells for the voting period :arrr:

Omg my first top 10 in a couple years and my first time getting 9th place - thank you so much to everybody who supported Adonia this time around! Our entry this time around was out of left field (and I think our oldest by like 30 years lol) so I had no idea what to expect. Thank you Pestolia for the last minute 18 that gave it the final push too ^_^ edit: Just saw the spreadsheet and I completely glossed over Jupiter's 18, thank you so much as well!

This was a really engaging results show if a bit chaotic (tbf I enjoy that anyway); thanks Harve for putting in the work and sequencing the votes in the most dramatic way possible

  5. Omfg if someone has gazzumped me to a no.1 winner I will quit bjsc forever

Unf***inbelievable!!! Iw as gonna send it next bloody month!!! Thid id Higher all over again

this just brought up traumatic memories of being the first person to send 'Raindrops' in 72 before it got vetoed due to multiple confirmations just for it to get sent the next month and win  Cannot believe it's been (almost) 9 years

  6. Incredibly pleased with how this is going so far!! tons of high points that I am very grateful for (special thanks to Zanmatony and Doctor Blind for the 18s & much love to Blind for highlighting that message from Gaza </3). These results have been a blast to watch - I’m afraid of POPHub continuing to slip away but very impressed and happy with its performance!

I know the Scotland 2 entry has already been discussed in detail but I'm very familiar with this mix and am in disbelief it was sent  I followed the TwerkNation collective before they stopped producing for various reasons (mainly out of respect for Jersey Club because they felt it was overshadowing more serious producers in the genre) and they had some great remixes of individual songs but the megamix sent is definitely one of my favorite things they produced. I agree with the decision to include it in the contest because the entire mix has the one Imogen Heap sample as a base and each of the producers spend a minute or two riffing on/remixing the sample.

I'm also happy to see some discussion about my entry this month already! I wanted to do a complete 180 from last month for the sake of it and also because this year hasn't been too great for me BJSC-wise (I think I've only qualified 1 or 2 times?). I noticed that the title is listed as 'Les Fleur' in the OP - I filled out as 'Les Fleurs' on the form because that's the title on streaming but it was a bit confusing. I looked on Discogs and 'Les Fleur' was the title on the original pressing of the single/album and was only changed to 'Les Fleurs' on streaming and the latest repress of the LP (the 2017 version has the 'Les Fleur' title without the S as well) so good catch!

  9. Doubting the legitimacy of these XG streams - the only other country it's charting in is Japan, which makes a lot more sense because they've had several hits there (they're a 'K-Pop' group with all-Japanese members under a Japanese label that sing in English, quite confusing). I haven't seen a K-Pop song crossover to the west without any presence on Spotify charts in SE Asia either.

    who's this Kenya person!

Looks like she's a Tiktoker who gained some momentum with this song (seeing a few teasers with a lot of likes, the most having 700k+) and got a distribution deal with Warner. The song itself is pleasant & mellow dnb - it sounds like something that would've done the rounds on those dance music aggregate YT channels a la MrSuicideSheep 10 years ago

  11. I was gonna try sending Addison Rae but it released globally at midnight EST so I didn't have a link to send in before confirmations closed  Fair play.

Also re: last contest - I was moving during the final results last time so I wanted to (very belatedly) thank y'all for the support x

I got home from the New York show a couple hours ago - it was absolutely incredible!!! The setlist was very similar to Sydney Pride + 'In Your Eyes'/'Love At First Sight' (both welcome inclusions). There was a good sized crowd (I'd say around 6k?) considering Kylie was easily the main draw out of the performers and the show was pretty far away from NYC! (my train + bus took about 2 hours). I'm too tired to go into more detail rn but I was so incredibly lucky to be able to see her in my home state and my fellow fans here really showed out. She kept stating how much she loved us and you could see the genuine shock in her face when the crowd was singing along to songs that didn't impact the US like 'Spinning Around'

I won't be able to vote (to nobody's surprise). I came down w the flu a few days ago and haven't been able to focus on much of anything so I've been in a state of delirium watching Family Guy (and am now heading back to bed). Rooting for Life in Mono (thought of sending that once but assumed it was more popular in Europe being a dance-oriented track, turns out it only charted in the US!), Frost Children (they put on an amazing show), and Snow Strippers (whom I was supposed to see last night here in NY but couldn't for obvious reasons :arrr:)
  14. Oops the Asian racism. Lexie is the second of my top 10 from semi 1 to miss out (7th for me) :'( but not too surprised, she had another great song before that DNQed too.

Up to 2 incorrect Q predictions now as well.

I also sent the other Lexie song in question - that and 'Fortuna' were two of my favorite songs of 2021 and 2022 respectively so it's a bit of a let down but happy some people enjoyed the discoveries! #Justice4Trifoski now and forever but at least we're together in DNQland
