I've learnt the hard way with these things so l'll only believe it when I see it. (wait) (jk yay ) And thanks for the sangs. Didn't think much of 'Something About You' but 'Oui' is a bit of a jam. On my second listen now~ :music:

Entry Reveal \\ BJSC - Buzzjack's 10th Anniversary Edition
'Killing In The Name' and 'Froot' were my rejected attempts so I was intrigued to see who got there first, not that I'm in any way surprised for the latter :P. Rather than go for something else 'Buzz(in)famous', I opted in the end to serve us all some lyrical ~home truths~ on this anniversary and stand up for the subjects of our keyboard wars lol. :funky: Hype for the aforementioned as well as the timeless classiques from Cher, Shaggy, Spice Girls and Robyn x2 (and Jordin Sparks if hers counts). <333

2016 Australian Chart Thread
Haha, I take it this is a reference to when Jameela used to always refer to '1000 Forms of Fear' as Sia's "forthcoming album", despite it having been released weeks/months beforehand?! I'd forgotten about that. Your commentaries are excellent by the way! I don't follow Aussie charts closely so it's great to get your insight. ^_^

US Hot 100 – 03/19/2016
Pleasing that Kelly got as high as #8 with 'Piece By Piece', thereby securing at least one US top 10 hit from each of her regular studio albums. I'm not that fond of the song and find some of the lyrics a bit jarring, but it's been great (and surreal) to see the massive impact a purely emotionally-driven live performance can have on the fortunes of a single, especially when the promo platform in question has been struggling for years to stay in any way relevant (and indeed to produce a star as big and enduring as her). Definitely a memorable chart moment in many ways. Yup, their fanbase's impact has been pretty remarkable. :o

Work From Home (feat. Ty Dolla $ign) | 1st single
Lol same. Just re-watched it and the whole thing really does seem more like a parody, in a similar way to 'Hard Out Here', than a genuine effort. The song's growing (:() and I agree that the production's the big selling point.

haiii :hi: Also quite surprised at that chart-topper but what an absolute beaut . Just did a quick check and it seems this is the first time we've shared a #1 :o (with three months in the difference for this one of course as I'm such a damn hipster ), though 'Hello' and 'One Last Time' among others came close, and 'Lean On' should by rights have got a month in on mine as it was a big fave for half a year, despite peaking at #5. Excited for 'Hands To Myself' to follow Adele's example and make its triumphant ascent to the top spot here by the end of April. :funky: I want to like 'Me, Myself & I' but I find Bebe's vocals in it really off-putting :/. Perhaps they're an acquired taste~ The verses and lyrics are pretty good though. I'm wondering how high 'Work' would be without Drake's 'twin' line lol . I'm kind of surprised how much I enjoy the song as objectively its vocal delivery is so lazy and just downright bad. Have you heard anything else from 'Anti' yet? It's quite surreal to see Mike Posner smashing charts internationally (again), and I never thought I'd be in any way ~moved~ by a song of his. Some of the most insightful/interesting lyrics I've heard in ages, and it's good to see the track clearly succeeding in endearing him to the public again. Quite a bit here I'm not familiar with. I've been in need of new music for a while now, so would be more than open to any recommendations~ Nice chart!

Tegan and Sara 'Love You to Death'
This is very exciting! Not overly familiar with their back-catalogue but 'Heartthrob' was a perfect pop album in every way . I'd probably end up naming every song as a highlight, and the singles were all particularly stunning. Just listened to 'I'm Not Your Hero' in anticipation for the new stuff. <3

Adele Discography Rate: Results
Aww, 'Lovesong' taking the wooden spoon is a bit of a travesty :(. I get why people wouldn't take to it as the whole thing feels quite bleak and lifeless and repetitive, but all of that really works with the song's sentiment for me. And I really like her verison of 'Need You Now' with Darius Rucker, possibly even more than the original.

Noahspike's Top 50 - February 2016
She's been in my top seven for three MONTHS though, and has four new entries pushing her down. And at least I embraced her bop of life from the get-go :kink:

Noahspike's Top 50 - February 2016
Indeedy, haven't heard anything else from Zayn as of yet but I really enjoyed Sia's album. Plenty of other gems. TY Hiii Mango :hi: Yeah 'Pillowtalk' is a really strong and smart debut. The production's the best thing about it for me. Love the chorus as well but it wasn't until I looked up the lyrics after hearing the censored version that I actually understood some of what he's singing about . Couldn't make out the line about neighbours previously and could have sworn he says 'my Ella' rather than 'my ally' lol. 'Jet Black Heart' is irresistible . Would love to have seen the outcome had it led the album. 'Move Your Body' really stood out when I gave 'This Is Acting' a listen a while ago (something I definitely need to do again). Such a massive banger and I can completely hear Shakira putting her stamp on it. And yep I like the Sean Paul version of 'Cheap Thrills' too, which is somewhat surprising as I find his voice quite grating most of the time~ Hmm I could name quite a few Beyoncé singles I'd rate lower, particularly from her earlier albums, but 'Formation' wouldn't be an essential for me (just yet anyway). I find the video and execution of the overall concept absolutely superb though. Thanks as ever for all your thoughts. :D Hey Harry! Great to see you liking some of my BJSC highlights in particular, as well as Katy B's 'Who Am I'. That seems to have received a very muted reaction everywhere, when I think of it as quite gorgeous :(. Hopefully it's just that it's a grower and needs more exposure to catch on~ Thank you ^_^ Hi :D 'Colorblind Cruisin' omggg <333. Been slaying me on the regular since the contest in a fashion reminiscent of 'Shade of You' . Solid potential for a Sofi swap-over of the #1 next month :o:o. And lol no chance, just been pushed down by an onslaught of new entries :P. Whispery sensual Selena swag is here to stay *.* (for now at least). Nope I wouldn't say it's more representative of my faves than my votes, just that it's a better reflection of what I listen to after/outside the contest. I'm not sure if I'm alone in doing this but I often enjoy listening to a BJSC entry and reward it accordingly yet have little intention to ever hear it again ('Free Tibet' being an example of that last month), whereas others could be catchy and very replayable but not as 'impressive' to me in the context of the contest, or just at the time. So I'd sometimes seek out the latter category even when they got lowish points, and that'd be taken into account here. /uninterestingramble And no worries, 'The Cure' is an absolute choon that deserved a lot better </3, and 'Blue Lights' was unlucky with me as it grew a little too late. -_- Yeah, I do like the way the vocals in '7 Years' get gradually more passionate and emotional throughout the song. Shame about the nonsensical lyrics/thought processes though! :') Ah, thank you! Clearly my attention span wasn't quite able for all the tedious aspects of the whole chart's presentation.

7's Singles Chart 04-03-16
'Ello Seven :hi: Cool to see Anderson .Paak at #1 :o. Listened to 'Malibu' a few weeks ago with BJSC in mind as I've wanted to send something of his for ages, but wasn't wowed enough by anything unfortunately. Still a great, sonically diverse album, with 'Am I Wrong' being an obvious highlight along with 'The Season | Carry Me', 'The Waters', 'The Bird' and 'The Dreamer' (dem definite article titles ). Have you heard it youself or checked out any of his previous material? My fave will probably always be 'Realla' with TOKiMONSTA. <333 Lots of stuff here I like (Wet's 'All The Ways' is just glorious - I've been forgetting to chart that for the last couple of months :/) and others I need to check out, namely new Chairlift, James Blake, St. Lucia, Gwen Stefani and The 1975. ^_^

Unknown Pleasures 21 - RESULTS!
Well done, Chris! 'LMHY' would've scraped my votes had I got them in so I'm pleased with the winner. Was ordering them a few minutes before the deadline last night when my friend called at the door and I decided not to leave her waiting outside in the cold for the sake of an online song contest . 'Holy Holy' lost out the most from her arrival/my lack of timekeeping so sorry to popchartfreak in particular! :/ Thought Litany would finish a bit higher without the deduction but I did notice it get a good lot of low points so I'm glad that a range of people seemed to like the song. Thanks Jordan especially for the high ones and RFC for all the work that went into this. :D

Many congratulations Ethan! A wonderfully unique entry and it makes for such a statement winner . Glad to see a 'risk' like it paying off so much. :D No need to! Liked your entry too but the other two made my votes :P. Well done on getting runner-up!

BJSC • 82 • F I N A L / R E S U L T • D A N A E L A N D A
Would be quite fitting if Dan is to hand Ethan his first win, especially with them swapping 18s just there. :o Backing Ethanola and Yehesi out of the contenders. :cheer:

Work From Home (feat. Ty Dolla $ign) | 1st single
I spent the entirety of the video trying to determine the self-awareness of their relentless porn faces/posturing...and am still none the wiser. (The song is shite, unsurprisingly, but it remains to be seen if it's the kind of soulless turd I can reluctantly come around to in time, a la 'Worth It'~)
-
Years & Years - 'Communion'
I'd love to see 'Ties' get a release and it strikes me as being a solid choice commercially. 'Border' is the other big fave of mine but I think it'd be better left as a hidden gem on the album <3. Failing that, a 'Take Shelter' re-release would always be welcome as that's the masterpiece. Not really feeling any other options.

Riser Recaps 2015
:hi:, here are some Saturday afternoon ramblings for chu. ^_^ Yasss crab, slay em' <333 'Night Changes' came on at work yesterday after having not heard it in ages and it sounded like such a damn classique , so much so that I momentarily forgot it was so recent/by 1D. I really liked it at the time of release but I'm not sure I appreciated it as being one of the band's best and most accomplished. It definitely has a timeless feel to it and I'd guess will be one of the go-to tracks for people/radio in years to come, despite not being among their biggest and most recognisable hits right now. Have to thank you for introducing me to 'No Way No' as there's no way no (:/) I'd have come across it otherwise. 'Rude' was incredibly instant for me (think I detailed that in my 2014 EOY ) but I think this one could have topped that. The band's just too good with melodies <3. Would have been interesting to see how their fortunes would've differed had this been the follow-up to their big smash. It was great to see Ed getting well-deserved Grammys acclaim for 'Thinking Out Loud' and I agree with you on it being a masterpiece and modern classic - thought that from the first time I heard it on Jools Holland. No obscene amount of radio plays can take away from that of course, but unfortunately it does mean I can't really enjoy the song anymore :/. I actually think of it as being bigger than Ed himself at this stage and find it difficult to rank it among his back catalogue. I'm sure it'll still be valued highly in decades to come so it's cool to have witnessed a song that like take off from the beginning. B-) Really hope the professionals got to treat yo scalp post-'Hollow'/'Let It Go' mash-up in time so as to prevent any long-term damage :(. I still haven't checked that performance out oop, but my expectations are sky-high. Speaking of Tori, I never knew you liked 'Should've Been Us' so much. :o <3 Completely forgot about 'Elastic Heart' finally getting boosted to #10 ! That has to have been my favourite chart moment of last year as it really felt like she'd missed her chance. I decided to omit that track from my own countdown as I'd loved it so much prior to 2015 but I'm kind of regretting that now, with its top 10 peak being such a defining chart moment. 'Focus' is k. Lovely stuff so far. :funky: (Ofc I mess up something and have to have an edit line ugh :))

US iTunes Top 100 [2016 THREAD]
11. Adele - When We Were Young Performed on yesterday's Ellen, so I hope that'll help push the song into the top 15 (top 10?) on the Hot 100 over the coming weeks. It's quite admirable that Adele appears entirely unbothered by singles' success and seems to perform whatever song from the album she wants or feels suits the promo spot/occasion, frustrating as that can be to follow as a chart fan . Interestingly though, she also performed 'All I Ask' on Ellen, so (with that, The Grammys and Carpool Karaoke) it's like that song's being treated as the current single (now at #7).

Desbuanda
82 In sending Batuk's debut single this month, Desbuanda has chosen to simultaneously channel the ethnic roots of its country name and pay tribute to the contest's host. A South African collective of producers and vocalists who fuse electronic with tribal beats, Batuk sets out its unique brand of afro-house with the thrilling and mesmerisingly rhythmic 'Daniel'. REGghJLvOtI ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Can't get much higher praise than that <3. I also don't listen to many BJSC entries after contests finish so it's really great to hear that 'Matadora' has made that impact on you :D. Happy that you're on board with 'Daniel' too - I did have a feeling you might be so was hoping Persephonia would be in the same semi like old times :kink:, but that wasn't to be. Yeah, I'm not anywhere near as confident of qualifying as with 'Matadora' (weird as that expectation was), but hoping it finds some fans, especially as it's in a similar vein to past qualifiers as you've said. Haha, I actually tried to enter another Paperwhite track at the very last minute (and yep, discovered 'Matadora' just before last month's deadline too) but clashed with Dan(iel) lol (I was obviously v busy on Valentine's evening B-)). Then spent about two hours the following day searching for something new as I wasn't fully backing any of my potentials, but knew from first listen that I could support 'Daniel'. Stressful as it's been, I kind of like this new strategy too!
-
Jack Garratt - Phase
I can't wait to listen to this, weirdly. Haven't been actively checking out his stuff at all but the few songs I've heard make me think his album will be something very special. I'd imagine the production is the real selling point so it's good to see a review to that effect. ^_^

BJSC • 82 • S E M I D R A W • D A N A E L A N D A
Ooh, a few familiar artists and songs here, with Daehun being a strong contender for my top points I'd imagine. I actually considered sending 'Come' but then saw that the song was currently #1 on French iTunes and has over seven million views on YouTube so decided against it. B-) (shade v much intended) Lovely to see the return of the showcase <3. Brilliant presentation, Dan(iel #votedesbuanda)!

BJSC • 82 • C O N F I R M • D A N A E L A N D A
Wasn't happy with my potentials this month so was searching frantically for something last night and found a song 20 minutes before the deadline (sending it at literally the very last minute), only to be told earlier that the artist's already been entered :drama:! My lack of luck continued over the last hour or so trying to get a replacement but I eventually settled on a song I'm confident will pass the veto and not already be taken and, as it happens, is a nice tribute of sorts to the host for all the hassle I've caused him~ ^_^ Sorry for holding things up but hopefully the semis can still go ahead tonight as planned!
