  1. Hi Mango! I hadn't noticed that similarity before but I think I get what you mean :o. And yep, I think 'Something...' would be the best choice for next single. Yeah, I really thought 'Stitches' would get a bigger push and make the top 40 at least as it's extremely radio-friendly. :/ Haha, I wasn't observant enough to notice the irksome instrumental in 'Kamikaze' either! Shall listen out next time~ Indeed I was late to 'Ocean Drive' - just clicked with me after hearing it on the radio a bit after it was released. Easily my favourite of Duke's too. :music: I agree re: 'Turn The Music Louder'. Always great to hear Katy's wondrous vocals grace a track though. 'Sorry' didn't make the cut last month but it's grown a bit since so could be in with a chance for the November chart. :magic: I'm not surprised that 'Better Love' did precisely nothing as it's all a bit too low-key and subtle to catch on with the general public. Still a shame though. I love how clear Dan's vocals are in the chorus. <3 Interesting that you can't get into 'Never Forget You' as it strikes me as the type of track that clicks instantly due to its catchy chorus but wears off after several more listens. That's certainly been the case for me anyway. -_- I think 'Perfect' is already quite a standout in their singles discography. I love how the song is such a blatant response to 'Style'/Taylor in subject matter and production, especially the lyrics of the middle 8. Been impressed with 1D so far this era but I'm yet to hear the album in full. I wouldn't mind seeing 'Kiss Me' top 10 or thereabouts post-X Factor performance. It's amongst Olly's better singles and he certainly needs a bit of a boost in some capacity after last weekend! Thanks for all the comments as ever, Mango! :D

Just finished my first full run-through of the standard version and enjoyed it a lot more than I'd thought I would. Was underwhelmed overall by the songs put out over the last few weeks ('Something In The Way You Move' very much aside) and, in light of this being a key point in Ellie's career, I guess I unfairly anticipated that the length of the album and different styles/influences present would make it feel like a dragging, incoherent mess of ideas. As it happened though, nearly every song that was new to me clicked to some degree, and everything else sounded fitting in context. I still wouldn't say it flows particularly well (though a song as recognisable as 'Love Me Like You Do' put right in the middle was never going to help matters in that regard) but the production is consistently great and the varied vocal effects/layering keep things interesting throughout. There's plenty of innovative pop music in a similar vein to her past stuff on here so I definitely agree that it's far from a sell-out, and that the 'Halcyon' purists like myself should be at least somewhat pleased! 'Aftertaste', 'Codes', 'Holding On For Life', 'Don't Need Nobody', 'We Can't Move To This' and 'Devotion' are the big new discoveries for me. 'Around U' is the obvious dud, at least at this moment in time. 'Something In The Way You Move' for next single, but I think quite a few could work well. (I'm actually kind of relieved I like this as much as I do! :D)

Never heard Bars & Melody's offerings and I'm not about to put myself through them for the purposes of having a more exhaustive list as I'm quite enjoying my night so far, so they've been spared. ^_^
  4. Woah, that was a seriously successful night for Chris Stapleton then :o. One week he's struggling to push his six-month-old debut album over 100k sales in the sub-Billboard 200 abyss and the next it's at #1 accompanying his three new CMA trophies! Also, it's nicely apt that the CMAs were responsible for ending the top 10 run of their former sweetheart's pop opus.
  5. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2015/11/08/23/2E3FE1C100000578-3309475-Flower_power_CeeLo_Green_put_on_a_hilarious_display_when_he_camo-a-5_1447024062741.jpg 'Music To My Soul' is the lead single of Cee Lo's fifth studio album; 'Heart Blanche', which was released on November 6th. The song's currently riding high on UK iTunes following his performance on X Factor over the weekend. u3-k-5KOduE I hadn't been anticipating new music from Cee Lo so this took me completely by surprise on X Factor and now I'm a little bit obsessed . A wonderfully melodic, uplifting track. Really love the pre-chorus especially. Any other fans?!
  6. Will do! And I'm afraid I don't have any particularly strong thoughts on 'Sax', other than that it's the absolutely perfect debut single for her and is really impressive in that sense that she/her team got her first artistic statement so spot on. I do like it as a stand-alone song too but then I'm not overly keen on big instrumental choruses so I think its appeal is limited for me. Her performance was awesome though! She's a complete professional - it's like she's been a star for years. :o

Saw this over the weekend and enjoyed it, and only partly due to all the amazing food featured throughout . Haven't read any reviews in full but I see its doing badly with critics, which really surprises me. I loved the insight it gave of the world of posh restaurant kitchens/Michelin star-chasing, with all the cooking techniques, teamwork, pressures of the workplace, competitiveness, tactics, tip-offs etc. I thought Bradley Cooper's character and his backstory was really interesting, if a little far-fetched with regard to encountering all his former enemies/everything from his past resurfacing at once. The acting was solid (and in Cooper's case really impressive), I believed the chemistry between the two main characters and there were a lot of funny moments...so overall I can't complain. ^_^ Judging you x
  8. 'Ch-Ching' is so infectious, but in quite a subtle way. Love that chorus. The video looks like it took a few cues from MØ/'Lean On'. :o
  9. Every element of Seann's performances throughout the competition (song choices/hand gestures/outfits/clarity of his voice/big money notes/longing looks into the distance) is theatrical. His entire style personifies theatre (unlike Anton...and...Lady Gaga for instance :magic:, who have other things going on) which isn't a negative except in the context of a show so geared towards finding a mainstream commercial talent. I think the 'critique' is completely warranted, especially as he's done very little to show any versatility or stray from his comfort zone. It has irked me in the past though how the 'more suited to theatre/musicals' label is emphasised as such a negative on the show in general. I could see Seann having a very successful career in that kind of field. ~ As for Kiera, it's a real shame that the star quality she exuded in her first audition and subsequent rounds never translated to the live shows -_-. She reminds me of Rachel Adedeji in that way because I remember seeing such potential in her at Bootcamp and was really rooting for her to bring it again, but it wasn't to be (although of course she did go on to produce the life-defining 'Follow The DJ', so chin up, Kiera)! Have to say the opposite (of Keira) is true with Louisa for me. Both her live show performances were outstanding and I'd never quite understood the hype around her up to that, or saw much potential. I still find her tone quite unpleasant and her vocal acrobatics don't do much for me but she's clearly a technically excellent singer, and a decent all-round performer with it. Ché's just unreal - so in control of his performance and comfortable on stage, and his voice is flawless. I feel like there's no real room for him to improve, other than to make sure to change things up a bit every week. Other general comments/observations: - Rita forgetting Monica's name in her intro and trying to cover it up with 'It's M..........yyy girl..........*terrified smile*' was the most entertaining moment of the weekend. - I didn't get why reinvention week was continually deemed a difficult theme by the judges?! Seemed vague/easy to me, and it's not like 'you made it/didn't make it your own' doesn't get wheeled out at least fifteen times any other week. - Monica's boobs. - I actually preferred Cee-Lo Green's song to Fleur's lol. The latter was still great though and she performed the absolute bejaysus out of it. :o
  10. Hey James! Yep, I haven't heard the full album yet but I much prefer 'Something In The Way You Move' to the singles and instant grats. A real shame that 'Delirium' is shaping up to be quite a regression from 'Halcyon' but I'd hope there'll be a few more gems to take from it at least, given the length of the tracklist! :o Haha yeah 'Fuel To The Fire' is my favourite of your entries, and possibly my favourite BJSC entry of the year in fact! Looove the vocals and it just doesn't seem to get old the more I hammer it. I agree about 'Hello' - it took its time to connect (for an Adele track). I'm still not completely sold though and don't imagine I'll ever value it as highly as some of her past hits. Ehhhhh I don't know, sorry. Ask Ethan or Dan! :magic: (Wharra choon tho :music:) Thanks for commenting! Hiiiii Ooh, by all means check out 'Hello' by the singer; Adele :o. So glad I could return your Kacy recommendation with one of my own. B-) 'Kamikaze' just gets it all so right . Been growing on me too~ Yeahhhhh I really don't like to admit it, especially as I haven't yet heard 'Delirium' in full, but it's all quite a marked step-down in quality (and that's allowing for the fact 'Halcyon' is one of my favourite ever albums/set an extremely high standard). 'On My Mind' is enjoyable enough in the moment (in studio form only of course!) but is so far from Ellie at her best. -_- Haha, thanks again for that - I still play the EP regularly :D. And indeed, I'd imagine Kacy's appeal would translate incredibly well to a full-length album. Yep, I think 'Player' does its job very well in commercialising Tinashe while remaining interesting. Also, it's just a huge jam really. :music: 'Kiss Me' is pretty good but that's about it for me. I don't really feel Olly's produced anything essential thus far, but he's got a lot of solid tracks and I agree 'Dear Darlin'' is the big standout. <3 Ah, I still haven't checked out V V's last album properly () even though I adore 'The Apple' and remember liking some others (not to mention I've seen you give it high praise a few times)! Must get around to that and the new one. ^_^ Thanks Bal! You must have impossibly high standards. Thanks for commenting, Aaron! :D
  11. Yay, the correct winner - nice one Buzzjack! Catchy as it is, 'Black Magic' winning wouldn't have felt right as it's little more than a faceless attempt at a radio hit done right, whereas 'Move' was inventive and made a statement about the group's sound, while being equally as infectious in the process. I agree with Joe that the song just doesn't seem to age, and I imagine its appeal will hold up better than most of their back catalogue in years to come. A very strong top five and an enjoyable rate overall. Cheers for doing it, Joe! :D
  12. I refuse to get excited until the title's corrected to 'Every Day...' <_< Wooooo *.*.*.* !!!!!!!!!! :w00t:
  13. Oops, please delete. B-)
  14. Hi dhwe, hope you're well! Have to echo Seven's appreciation of those wonderful graphics - admired them when you made charts several months ago so it's especially great to see you back here. :D I've been pretty much hammering 'Hello' since it premiered and after taking its sweet time it's finally properly clicking with me now. There was always something stopping me going from a detached admiration for how utterly massive-sounding it is to actually connecting with the lyrics and sentiment, and I love that the whole thing can be interpreted in several contrasting ways. That all said, I can't see it challenging the first three '21' singles and a couple more Adele tracks in my affections any time soon, but that's an extremely tall order so I'm definitely satisfied with its dominance everywhere. ^_^ 'Wildest Dreams' has really grown on me recently too, with it initially suffering from my bias against any new '1989' single by virtue of not being 'Out of the Woods' (which I see is Bubbling Under here ). That's really crying out for a release to extend a rather excellent singles run. I'm so conflicted on 'Focus' lol. The chorus is objectively horrendous, derivative and gimmicky but I'm somehow quickly finding it tolerable in spite of myself :arrr:. At least I'm sure the song will never touch the post-album singles of 'My Everything' no matter how much it grows, which is a huge relief. B-) Nice observation re: the reference in 'Toxic' by the way! Had never noticed/known that either. :o

(Meant to respond to these over a week ago but never got around to it oops. Might still be of interest anyhow!) I remember reading in an interview with the head of her label (I think!) that the original plan was for 'Set Fire To The Rain' to lead the album, but Adele wanted 'Rolling In The Deep' (and even considered naming the album that), which took a lot of convincing as it was seen as a risky choice in terms of commercial radio getting on board (lol). 'Someone Like You' wasn't technically made the second single until it blew up so much right after the BRITs (or possibly just beforehand due to the hype around Adele's performance?), where it was seemingly chosen as the track she'd perform so as to showcase the album/create a big moment rather than as the next single, as RITD was still going strong. So it replaced SFTTR, which was pushed back again. The original rough plan was that 'Someone Like You' would be saved for a release at the end of the year, as its potential was certainly recognised (albeit significantly underestimated like the entire campaign). I'm nearly sure everything I've said is correct, but is likely pieced together from different interviews/sources!
  16. Congrats guys! As Iz said, producing a Multichart every week seems like quite a laborious and thankless task so it's great to see y'all get some well-deserved recognition for all the work and thought that goes into the forum. :D
  17. I would say to bear in mind that 'Halcyon' + its expanded form sold over a million copies in contrast to 'Salute' only scraping platinum, but considering Little Mix have never had the level of momentum they currently have, together with 'On My Mind' not exactly smashing or appearing to lend itself to album sales, I think it'll indeed be a close one. I'd still expect Ellie to get her best ever opening sales given her high-profile promotion this week (Children In Need, Graham Norton) and I'd place my bets on her narrowly getting the #1. It'll be an interesting battle for sure.

Her X Factor performance last night has only reinforced my feeling that 'On My Mind' wasn't a good choice of lead single (of course saying this without having heard the rest of the album). Not only does it translate poorly live but it seems that a lot of people aren't keen on the song itself, which doesn't surprise me, and it's not like it could be considered an album seller either. It's a bit like 'Anything Could Happen' in that it's not a particularly accessible or safe lead and is somewhat divisive, except that was much more inventive/interesting and seemed to be a grower for most (I personally adore it by the way), whereas this feels a bit throwaway and certainly underwhelming. The single definitely wouldn't indicate that 'Delirium' is up to the standards Ellie set with 'Halcyon', and I think the album's opening sales weeks won't fulfill their potential as a result. 'Army' getting some exposure will help but I'm not completely convinced on that one either. As for 'Lost And Found', it's nice but a bit corny for me, so overall I'm not as hyped as I'd like to be for the album. :/ (Meanwhile, 'Something In The Way You Move' remains glorious <333)
  19. Just read through the thread after catching up with the results earlier. So relieved Kiera was saved as she has so much potential and it'd be a real shame to have lost her based on one underwhelming performance. Alien Uncovered were impressive last night but it was always going to be an uphill battle for them as everything about them isn't suited to the show/its voting demographic, so I'm not too fussed and certainly not surprised to see them out early. And poor aul' Bupsehhh. :( Nice work! :magic: Very late response to this but I took all that talk to be in reference to a comment Simon (?) made during the Six Chair Challenge about them singing American songs/not feeling like a British act. Your interpretation may have been a factor too though (unfortunately). -_- I really don't think it was the song that was the problem for Kiera. With a simpler arrangement closer to the original and less going on with the staging/styling etc, I don't see why it couldn't have worked wonders for her. She's got such a strong, clear vocal and the song seems perfect on paper so it was a real disappointment that it didn't all click. I really hope she and Rita/the producers sort out her artistic identity this week because she really has all the makings of a viable popstar. -_-

Hello It's me I was wondering if after all these chart comments you'd like to read ...another chart comment  That's a brilliant #1 :D and I appreciate you indirectly introducing me to Kacy's EP. Everything I've heard from her thus far is so well crafted and shows such variation - will certainly be watching out for more from her! The lyrics of 'Arm's Length' in particular are absolutely superb, saying so much so effortlessly. <3 'Sorry' is a really solid and clever follow-up to Justin's big breakthrough, but I'm finding the chorus a bit whiny right now. Think it's just that his reliance on repetitive choruses doesn't quite work in this case/for the word 'sorry', but I'd imagine I'll get over it and be bopping along in no time. :music: Your #3's nice x Ooh Alex Winston :o. I liked 'Careless' a lot and considered it for BJSC several months ago but haven't heard this one yet. ^_^ Need to get around to checking out the new Hurts album. Like what I've heard so far from it but haven't been blown away by anything. How did you find it? Seems like 'Nothing Will Be Bigger Than Us' is a major highlight anyway, which I shall duly note. :magic: I also like other songs in your chart and would like to say more but cba really :). At least I can say that I've tried. :) Also, it's no secret that the both of us are running out of time. :) Goodbye from the other side! :hi:

  22. Some interesting stuff here, ML Hammer! Quite a few I'm not overly familiar with but recall being good, and others that'd be major favourites of mine too. Nice to see mentions for underappreciated gems like 'Walk', 'Cheating' and 'Thank You' (I love Q-Tip's verses on that). 'N*ggas In Paris' and 'King Kunta' are also particularly awesome and refuse to get old. :music: SO great to see some love for Frank Ocean's 'Lost'...that song is justtttt . Can't really describe it but some of the lyrics and the whole melancholic/nostalgic vibe of it cut deep. <3 Looking forward to what's to come!
  23. Delighted that Kiera, my favourite act at this stage and the only one I see brimming with potential, is performing one of my favourite tracks of the last few years . Quite an inspired choice (though less so given Chloe introduced it to producers at auditions) and I can imagine her voice really doing it justice. Genuinely excited to hear her take on it! :D Ché's 'Tears Dry On Their Own' also seems like it'll work extremely well, and 'Sorry' sounds perfect for Mason - it should give him a great shot at bolstering a (young) fanbase after all the controversy surrounding his return/selection. I'm actually quite intrigued by Max doing 'Someone Like You', as he'll probably give it a more laid-back/reggae-inspired spin rather than going the obvious route with it. ...So entirely suitable for her in a 'This Is Me' themed week then.
  24. Noahspike posted a post in a topic in Pop and Country
Liking this on first few listens. It seems she's adopted more of a storytelling style for this album, what with the wordy verses in this and 'On My Mind'. Love the explosion of backing vocals towards the end - reminiscent of the highs of 'Halcyon'. <3
  25. In fact, nothing can be 'over-exaggerated'. It can be exaggerated though. :magic: And while I'm here, it's shoo-in and not the widely used 'shoe-in'. :magic: bai
