Rugby World Cup 2015
Ireland really pulled it together in the second half :D. Delighted they won the group! Fingers crossed Argentina won't prove too much of a challenge.

POPCORN
Is butter popcorn not really a thing in the UK? Growing up, the only option in most Irish cinemas was whether or not you wanted hot liquid butter poured all over your tub of popcorn. (lol sounds so nasty but omfg) Anyway, popcorn is an absolute must for me when I go see a movie, to the point that I justify paying ridiculous amounts for it every time by the fact that I don't go to the cinema very often (but actually I'm going this evening, yay :D). It'd feel like such a waste to get nachos or something instead when there's popcorn to be had. <3 Never been a big fan of sweet and would always go for salted if that was the choice, but I recently got a mix for the first time and was pretty impressed. Haven't tried the toffee variety in years and the thought of it does nothing for me. I'd be really interested to try alternative (savoury) flavours though, like the ones John mentioned. :o

Breaking Bad is by far the most gripping series I've ever watched so I hope it does very well here. Also oops @ me forgetting to nominate/vote for The Office (US), one of my absolutes faves. :(

Desbuanda
79 Increasingly fed up after sending a steady stream of flops over the last several months, the Desbuandese have opted to take comfort in the BJSC-friendly genre of RAP to return the country to success. B-) Fx8jPmrIb-E That final minute though *.*.*.*.*.* <33333

Kelela - Hallucinogen EP
Was impressed with 'A Message' and 'Rewind' when I came across them the other day. Stereogum did an interesting write-up on her album, saying her sound and style take several cues from Janet Jackson. Official video for 'Rewind': py6PgXq0yDM

Mango's Top 40 (05/10/15)
Hey Mango, hope it's not too late in the week to comment on your chart (and don't worry if it's too much hassle to reply)! I can definitely get behind that #1 - it's clicked so much with me since the video release. Also love your #5, having only realised it's a Duke Dumont track the other day. I must have heard it somewhere a good while ago and it subconsciously made a big impression because it felt so familiar when I heard it in context (I'm not explaining this well at all but the whole thing was quite a weird revelation as I didn't expect to know it)! Anyway, the song's so melodic and I love the vocal delivery throughout. That's a nice steady climb for 'Downtown' into the top 10, and it definitely deserves to get there officially too. So many great moments in that track. :music: 'On My Mind' still isn't quite doing it for me, but I've become a little obsessed with since checking it out earlier. Would highly recommend! Great to see Little Mix, Foxes and Nothing But Thieves entering. I find it interesting how recognisable Dan from Bastille's backing vocals are on 'Better Love', yet it really works and doesn't distract from the song/make it jarring at all. Nice chart. :D

The Apprentice • Series 11
Funnily enough, I recently looked up Róisín's website and it turns out she's still pushing on with those low-calorie noodle ready meals which use that secret ingredient every other manufacturer had already heard of . Lord Sugar's loss for sure. </3

US Hot 100 - 10/17/2015
Delighted to see 'Stitches' become a top 10 hit :D! An undeniably catchy, well-executed pop song from a fanbase act that seems to have gained momentum and pushed through to become a mainstream hit on its own merits - kind of reminds me of 'Jealous' for those reasons. I remember Shawn getting a #1 album felt like an anomaly to me back in April, so it's good that its lead single (?) has belatedly kind of justified that achievement more, and is keeping the album steady in the top 30. Interesting to see how 'Writing's On The Wall' is doing in relation to 'Skyfall' (though it's not really a fair comparison with Hot 100 formula changes and Adele's huge level of hype etc.), with the latter having debuted at #8 and the former hitting #71 and out of the top 100 on iTunes already.

Delirium | 3rd album
Yeah, I know from first listen that I can properly get behind this <3. As has been said, it's a great big pop song which, crucially, doesn't compromise Ellie's distinctive style and quirks. 'On My Mind' is enjoyable enough but still feels a bit jarring/awkward to me. I agree that this is way more polished and actually I think it'd have worked better as the lead single.

Runnin' (Lose It All)
Agreed that this is a very special track. Every element is so on point and manages to elevate the whole. The lyrics really cut deep, and both singers deliver them with the sincerity and emotion they deserve. The production is also completely wonderful - I love how it picks up so much in the first chorus to complement the repetition of the lyrics, all of which is perfectly fitting to the subject matter. <3 On another note, I was late for an optician's appointment today and I feel that having this playing as I was rushing across town genuinely made me run faster.

Selena Gomez 'Revival'
I saw that performance of 'Rude' and her voice was shockingly weak, especially considering the song isn't challenging in the slightest! She's an extremely limited vocalist - no real power or range. Her tone can be quite nice though.

Noahspike's Top 50 - September 2015
Hey UV (OMG @ this essay )! Yay for Naughty Boy making the official top 10 *.* Ooh, I quite liked 'Wonder' as well and yeah 'Runnin'' is very Emeli Sandé-esque, unsurprisingly. In fact, my brother (whose knowledge of music is quite limited) asked me if it was an Emeli song when it was on the radio earlier . I love Arrow's vocals too - just an all-round awesome track in every way. <3 That's good to hear you approve so highly of the CHVRCHES album and only makes me more excited to listen for myself soon! I've high hopes based on everything from them so far anyway. Yep, Hailee and Shawn slaying the UK would be great to see. Both are acts I wouldn't generally be interested in much but they've really struck gold with their respective singles. :D The other two JoJo tracks are worth checking out but pale in comparison to 'Save My Soul' IMO. I think 'Magnets' has become my favourite of Disclosure's new stuff too but I'm yet to hear the album in full. I'd recommend V V's 'Lazarus' as well as 'Shift' (but again I haven't heard the album yet). Ah, I remember being a fan of 'Shark In The Water' too - need to revisit that. My favourite of hers is 'The Apple', and it'll have to take something very special for it to be overtaken. <333 I kind of feel the same about 'On My Mind' - something's stopping me from really enjoying it, though I love the verses. And I agree with you about 'Love Me Like You' too - made a great initial impression, and repeated listens along with the excellent video have only helped it grow (so it's a fairly safe bet to climb here)! 'Wildest Dreams' is another that'll get a boost next month I'd say. I agree about the video - it really enhances the song and made me pay more attention to the lyrics. I haven't heard 'Honeymoon' yet (sorry :drama:!) but I'm determined to get around to it very soon! I'm not completely convinced on 'Alive' and would certainly put it behind her big hits from the last album as well. Thanks for all the comments! Hi Josh! While I don't find 'Runnin'' boring in the slightest, that's interesting what you say about the vocal performances. Struggling to think of a recent hit song with more impressive vocals so I'd have to agree with you on that! And yeah, it's nice to see Beyoncé still getting top 10s after all the attention being on her albums for the last few years. The chorus of 'Downtown' took me a bit of getting used to (as did the disjointedness of the entire song, but to a lesser extent). I think you should give it another shot though, Josh - the verses and video are majorly entertaining. :funky: I've seen it said that 'On My Mind' is obviously a response to 'Don't' and works perfectly etc...but is everyone ignoring the lyrics of the chorus?! The verses are completely fitting though, and are really catchy with it. I'm not surprised it hasn't caught on as well as Ellie's past lead singles - it's a little awkward as a song and neither particularly accessible or inspired/interesting. 'Anything Could Happen' is soooooo much better IMO! Haha, Stooshe + Christmas + musical theatre is a pretty good description of 'Love Me Like You'! I really feel its festiveness will help ensure it blows up properly over the coming months, with building airplay and big promo, so I wouldn't worry if I were you. :P That's interesting re: your feeling (and your dad's :kink:) towards 'Alive'. I wasn't keen for ages but the unpleasant sounding vocals on parts began to matter less and less the more I listened. It's pretty good but I imagine I'll tire of it soon and it won't hold up against Sia's recent singles. Thanks! And I hadn't seen the Nothing But Thieves artwork but definitely agree with you . Hopefully it'll mean more sales from consumers who appreciate horses good aesthetics~ ^_^ Hi! Surprised you didn't go with A-dawg tbh :') Haha, thanks! Well considering the ~monthliness~ of your chart inspired mine in the first place, I thought it was only right to borrow another aspect of it ^_^ (Nah, truth is I didn't think a random picture of Naughty Boy would really do the song or its appeal justice  and that part of the video ties in nicely with my subtitle etc., so it just felt right this time. I'll downgrade back next month)! Oh and Illuminati would explain that ofc. :magic: That's great that you like 'Eyes Shut', and yeah I'd imagine the apocalyptic video would have suited the occasion perfectly (</3). I remember you saying you're not too keen on Olly's vocals in general but they're a lot softer on 'Eyes Shut' (and 'Take Shelter', come to think of it) so it's interesting that those tracks appeal more to you. Erm I am automatically better than the Hot 100 because I don't change the criteria of my chart every five minutes :) (but yeah, poor Shawn getting overshadowed by Justin, though I think the tables will turn next month :o). Well if you're not here for 'On My Mind' shade, don't (omg 'Don't' lololol :/) read my other replies in this post B-). I do like it a lot overall, I'm just a little underwhelmed. 'Wildest Dreams' will very likely climb next month - a pretty gorgeous song that's grown a lot on me. Lol that's okay, even I haven't experienced it properly in aaaaages! Must find myself a reason to walk briskly out of darkened woodland sometime soon~ Rationale and Big Data would have likely done very well among the Desbuandese, but I never got around to listening to the full final/your semi so I can't say for sure. Will have to do that soon too :drama:. Indeed, 'Fuel To The Fire' is utterly awesome <3. Would love if it had been my own entry, and actually Rationale was a potential of mine a few months ago with 'Fast Lane', so I wish I'd checked up on their newer material! Haha, that was long enough thanks, especially following the other two above! Need a lie down after all that tbh. -_- Cheers Jord! :w00t:

Voted a little while ago. My top pointer ended up being the only track I'd known previously. Not a stellar contest but made a few good discoveries anyway. :music:

Katy Perry Singles Rate 2015: RESULTS
'This Is How We Do' is a bit of a cult favourite here then . In the video thumbnail it's almost like Katy's taunting Froot via her watermelon for his efforts to keep the song out of the top 15. ^_^ 'California Gurls' rightfully out early :D. Trashy and soulless - it wasn't even fun at the time.

Rugby World Cup 2015
Indeed, much closer than anyone expected really, which is a real credit to the Italians' skill and determination. Very thankful for O'Mahony's try-saving tackle :drama:! I hope the match has given the Irish lads a minor shock so that they prepare themselves properly for this weekend, as there's no way they can put in a lacklustre performance against the French and expect to get away with it. Would be amazing to finish top of the group and not have to face New Zealand in the QF.

The X Factor • Series 12
The only way I can watch X Factor these days is by recording it or on Youtube for these reasons - I have no patience anymore. Interesting to read people's opinions here. I don't find Monica unlikeable at all, but I guess I can kind of see where others are coming from with saying the public mightn't take to her. I just think she was absolutely desperate to get and hold on to her seat (as shown by her overly honest reactions to the other girls' performances!), which was a result of her massive drive and nervousness following her experience last year. Her performance wasn't outstanding but I think she's more interesting than the likes of Louisa, who's clearly very talented but shouts and oversings her way through every song. She hasn't shown a hint of the versatility needed to last in the live shows and comes across as quite a bland type of act in general - I don't get the huge fuss with her (other than that her voice is far beyond her years and doesn't match her looks whatsoever etc.) Kiera really impressed me once again. Her voice is beautiful and she always seems very comfortable on stage and in control of everything, despite any nerves. I think she has real potential to be an all-rounder and I can easily envision her being successful after the show. I'm undecided on Lauren in that regard as I agree that she seems a bit dated, like one of those acts who'll do well on the show but have no clear direction afterwards. Her rendition of 'Say You Love Me' was great though - I was relieved that someone chose to showcase their talent on a softer song after all the diva impersonations. As for the others, I love Chloe's tone but wasn't mad about her performance this week, and I've quite a soft spot for Havva. I think she could be great with some much-needed guidance. Would have been nice to see Sharon get a chance but it's a solid top six anyway. My picks would be Kiera and Chloe as of now and I'm undecided about the third.

Rugby World Cup 2015
Have to say, I felt quite sorry for England earlier, especially with the fans walking out early and booing during the post-match interviews. What a complete disaster to be knocked out at this stage, and with one match still to go (not that they deserved to beat Australia with the way they played or anything). Anyone else think Burgess' high tackle (which was also off the ball) was just as bad, if not worse, than the one Farrell deservedly got a yellow card for?! Couldn't believe he got away with that. :o Looking forward to Ireland v Italy tomorrow. :cheer:

Noahspike's Top 50 - September 2015
TY Tomboo  Hey James :hi: Yeah I'd probably count 'What Do You Mean' as Justin's best single too. I loooooove 'Fuel To The Fire' <3. It's only got a low position here due to not being in my life long enough. It's one of my favourite BJSC entries of the year so thanks for the discovery! And I'm excited for your next one based on that description. :o Thanks! Hi Mango! Ah yeah, Beyoncé sounds awesome on 'Runnin'' (but everything about the song is pretty much flawless to me). Ooh I'm delighted you're liking the Kwabs album, and particularly 'Look Over Your Shoulder'! That track stands out to me a lot but I'd thought I was alone with that one based on comments in the album thread and elsewhere. Great to see it appreciated. :D Shame 'Downtown' just missed out on top 10 but I very much doubt #11 will be its peak, so nothing to worry about. I adore some of the lyrics in the verses. <3 Interesting that 'On My Mind' is growing on you as I think its doing the opposite for me and I haven't even heard it that much. :/ Indeed, the 'Trip Switch' chorus is quite a moment, and yeah I'm a big fan of 'Wake Up Call' too. Fingers crossed their upcoming album does something. I instantly preferred 'Love Me Like You' to 'Black Magic' too...and 60s girlband/doo-wop (or whatever) isn't exactly my thing . I still think they're at their best with 'Move' and the style of other stuff on their last album, but they're a lot of fun as a group and I'm looking forward to seeing this track doing well over the coming months. 'Wildest Dreams' is excellent - a real classy, slick affair. It's probably my third favourite '1989' single currently, after 'Blank Space' and 'Style', but that could change. ^_^ Thanks. :D

Your favourite film you saw this week?
Nice idea for a thread. :D I saw 'Boyhood' for the first time a few days ago, having meant to do so for absolutely ages (mainly because of its intriguing concept/how it was filmed). Have to say it was a little underwhelming in feeling too dragged out and uneventful towards the end, but the acting from everyone was superb throughout. I found it interesting in hindsight how Mason was such a mellow, passive character yet had a real charisma and never felt 'boring'. Also loved all the Noughties (hate this word :puke2:) cultural references, as well as the soundtrack. As usual with me and US coming-of-age type indie films, I spent pretty much the whole time wishing I grew up in small town America and could go on road trips in my truck at 16 etc. so the movie was worth it for all the feels. <3

Riser Monthly
Heywassuphellooooo, Very nice #1! Love the way the production's so explosive and frantic in the chorus - really fits the ~self-confidence~ in the lyrics. (I just had a thought: imagine the amount of abuse this song would get if Jessie J released it ). I unashamedly love 'Today's The Day' and actually I wouldn't have a problem with it being a proper single apart from the 'I get so vicious when I don't feel delicious' line :/, even though it's a little clichéd and all. ^_^ Great to see 'How Deep Is Your Love' climbing here - it's fast becoming one of my faves from Calvin, which is surprising as I found it a bit repetitive initially and he has such a strong discography. 'Lean On' is the current longest runner on my chart as well (after 'Open Season' finally dropped out this month lolol). Really hasn't aged for me either after six months. Its runs in our charts are actually quite similar, with mine being a few/several spots lower than yours each month: [2-1-3-9-9-15] v [05-06-06-12-15-22]. :magic: Nice debuts for 'Omen', 'Good For You' and 'Downtown' in particular. Macklemore rhyming 'Tiramisu' with 'tearing my suit' is one of my musical moments of the year. <3 Speaking of Disclosure, have you heard the ? Think you'd like it. :D gr8 chart baiiiii

JoJo - When Love Hurts
Observations: - At times she looks like Perrie from Little Mix with bigger boobs ofc. - The hand scenes remind me of Rachel Adedeji's 'Follow The DJ' video  (what a tune <3). - The song's still good but 'Save My Soul' should be getting the single push instead.
-
Tinashe - Player (feat. Chris Brown)
That's excellent - love the verses and the chorus (when it eventually hits) is completely undeniable. She'll surely go mainstream with this, but I can't help thinking the whole thing does compromise what makes her special in the process, albeit not overly so. Undecided on that but it's a definite smash. ('See you later, alligator' though :'))
-
Desbuanda
Ah, good to hear, and obviously it needed all the support it could get :drama: so your points were much appreciated! Of my last five entries, I'd probably rank 'Can't Have' second after 'Calling Out', but it may well overtake that in my affections soon enough. I love 'Virtual Paradise' by the way - would have got big points had I voted so it was great to see it go top 10 without my help. :D Haha, great observations on both counts! Must find my own elaborate ways of commenting on your entries without revealing whether I like them or not. That's very high praise :o - thanks Totto! I love his voice as well but have only heard one other track of his (can't remember the name), which didn't do much for me. I believe his debut album's just come out, which I'll have to check out sometime anyway. And thanks for the 18 points! I'm delighted you made such a discovery in it. :D

BJSC 79 | GREEN ROOM
Assuming it's official, just wanted to say thanks to those involved in communicating/deciding this. I do have some potentials, one of which I strongly feel is a smash but it isn't quite doing it for me (yet), another I thought I was set on but I've weirdly gone right off it tonight, and a third that's amazing but probably too subtle to qualify and I'm a little fed up of sending flops, truth be told. May have to go back to the drawing board if things don't improve. -_- (Also, belated congrats to James/Mulgracia - I adore 'Fuel To The Fire').
