  1. Great to see this back, Billy, and please feel free to do finish it at your own pace - I'd enjoyed reading it up to the break and was just being selfish! Can't say I share your pleasure, guilty or otherwise :P, for 'Trumpets' but I loooooove 'So Good To Me' and haven't heard it in ages. Interesting that you enjoyed it during the winter as I tend to avoid songs as inherently summery as it but it's definitely sounding great now that the sun's out. B-)
  2. Ahhhhhhhh what an exciting final and perfect winner! Many congrats Bray! 'Habib Galbi' was a strong contender for my 18 points and is still growing on me - was listening in the sun yesterday and it sounded better than ever . It's such a refreshing track, particularly in the context of BJSC as I haven't heard anything like it as an entry before, so it was amazing to see it surge to victory. Like Rabbit, I'm also psyched for another Persephonia-hosted contest in general but mainly for the return of the deathly red tide *.* Happy that CAPPA scraped into the top 20 (with exactly the same points total as Eves The Behavior, somewhat interestingly) as it was dangerously close to the bottom at the midway point. I had thought it'd be quite widely appealing and clock up more mid to low scores but instead it got five sets of 18, which really surprised me. Thanks to everyone for the votes! Well done Yu for a finely presented contest amid your busy schedule and also congrats for yet another medal finish :o (and with a song I could really get behind this time as opposed to last month)!
  3. I've always thought the same. Granted, she's never been particularly well promoted or prominent but it seems odd that the album probably won't outsell 'Little Red' for instance, as I would have thought that Jessie (and particularly 'Say You Love Me') would have a lot of MOR appeal to older demographics who buy albums. Great to see 'Tough Love' got a nice chart boost anyway as it's a very solid effort from her.

  5. Catching up again~ :D I think Danielle will go down as a classic housemate for me. Just a consistently entertaining bundle of contradictions and some of her reactions/sayings/interpretations of things were priceless, my favourite probably being the way she acted like Winston had written a heartfelt poem about her when he was basically just rapping about her tits. I really liked Josie at the start but she got increasingly unbearable once she realised how popular her shtick was on the outside, becoming quite smug, false and nasty at times, particularly towards Caoimhe due to jealously over her friendship with John James. I can see she was entertaining and probably a deserving winner in that series (which I didn't really enjoy) but she lost most of her appeal by the midway point for me. I loved Sara. She just kind of got on with things and seemed like a genuine, friendly, fun (and sane) person in that house who wasn't afraid to speak her mind and stand up for herself. I'd love if more housemates were like her.

^ Cheers for posting that, Kath! Very nice cover. Whaaaaaaaat?! I love the entire song but the chorus is outstanding - one of the most impactful of recent months for me! And although I slightly prefer 'Not On Drugs', I find it interesting to see people differentiate so much between it and 'Talking Body' as to me they have quite similar appeal and both have considerable hit potential (though I'd agree 'Talking Body' has more obvious and catchy hooks).

Voted in the early hours and was very pleased to have the expanded points format! In the end I had exactly 15 songs which stood some way above the rest so it worked out perfectly. Am really interested to see how this contest turns out as it seems wide open and I'd be equally happy with a number of potential winners. A country I think deserves a bit of hype is Ultraviolenceland - lovely little track and I could see it doing very well.

  9. :hi: Seeing this has reminded me to finally give 'King Kunta' a listen... ...and I can now say that that's a pretty stellar top 5 :music:! I shamefully don't know too much Kendrick (yet) but I definitely get the hype around 'King Kunta' and will be sure to give the new album a listen soon (and as it happens, 'The Blacker The Berry' just came up on autoplay and is sounding amazing :o). I've been loving Persephonia's last few entries and 'Habib Galbi' is no exception - the video is especially endearing. 'Lean On' is just so good and won't stop growing on me and I've always loved 'Distant Past' and 'When The Beat Drops Out'. I like a huge amount of the rest of the chart, particularly your BJSC highlights. 'U-Huh' is such a jam and was a potential for me a few months ago actually but I thought too many people would have heard it already for my liking . Very glad it's been entered though as I'm still a big fan . Great to see some love for 'Curtains', '7even' and particularly 'Hush'. Rooting for them all in the final along with A WA! ^_^
  10. Ah, intriguing . And I've always meant to check out 'Ray Of Light' actually so I appreciate the reminder, thanks!
  11. 'Tangled Up' isn't in your top 5 though.
  12. Bal, it's time I told you that I've never actually heard a Madonna album oooooooops. I did like the 'Confessions...' singles though so I wouldn't be against giving the album a listen. Will be sure to report back if I do. :D
  13. +30 Ellie Goulding - Halcyon Days (:kink:) +29 Lana Del Rey - Born To Die +28 Lily Allen - It's Not Me, It's You +27 Amy Winehouse - Back To Black +26 Katy B - Little Red +25 Ed Sheeran - x +24 Adele - 21 +23 Hurts - Happiness +22 Marina and The Diamonds - The Family Jewels +21 Rebecca Ferguson - Heaven +20 Little Mix - Salute +19 Girls Aloud - Tangled Up +18 Justin Timberlake - The 20/20 Experience +17 One Republic - Native +16 Katy Perry - Prism +15 Katy Perry - Teenage Dream +14 Lady GaGa - Born This Way +13 Taylor Swift - 1989 +12 Beyonce - BEYONCE +11 Lana Del Rey - Ultraviolence +10 Rihanna - Good Girl Gone Bad +09 Emeli Sande - Our Version Of Events +08 P!nk - Funhouse +07 Kelly Clarkson - Breakaway +06 Girls Aloud - Chemistry
  14. 'Peacock' is woeful and clearly the worst there so a very easy vote! I always quite liked 'Who Am I Living For?'
  15. Really liking a lot of your mainstream picks! 'Elastic Heart' (and I agree that the version with The Weeknd is superior), '212', 'Rolling In The Deep' and 'Diamonds' are all outstanding tracks and haven't begun to lose their appeal, the latter two being among my favorite smash hits of the last few years (and coincidentally, crossed the million mark in UK sales on the same week last year, which I always found apt ^_^). I appreciate being reminded of 'Mowgli's Road' as well! I remember being fascinated by that when I first heard it, before quickly becoming addicted. For me, one of the most effective introductions to any artist ever!
  16. The production on this is awesome. The song itself isn't doing anything for me though. It's pretty tuneless, which isn't necessarily a negative, but I actually got tired of it well before it finished and have no desire to re-listen. I agree with Umi in that the song+video combo seems to pretend to be more than it is. :/ Saying that, it wouldn't surprise me if it clicks and reveals its strength after multiple listens, much like a lot of Rihanna's more experimental stuff.
  17. Been loving this more and more since Nuggets! Such an anthem.

I'm well aware she was nowhere near as big as she is now! She was still a very successful artist and I clearly recall that performance gaining huge online attention very quickly, to the point where the song was nearly overshadowing the hype around 'Rolling In The Deep'. Anyway, I'm new to this so I'm sure there were much more veto worthy songs over the years.
  19. Noahspike posted a post in a topic in BuzzJack Song Contest
I would argue that 'Someone Like You (Live)' was massively veto worthy! Assuming it's the first performance Adele did of the song on Jools Holland in late 2010, there was a massive online response to that and it followed closely after the debut of 'Rolling In The Deep', which had huge hype from the off, helped by her having a near-million selling album under her belt. Anyway it doesn't matter now, belated WD Rob! :cheer:

74 Desbuanda has opted to go partying with the pop hoes this contest with a sugary, dreamy yet slightly deranged bop. um6tQALrev8
  21. Always great to see a chart of yours, Joe! I'm also far too lazy for a weekly one and can just about keep on top of my monthly one. Needless to say I'm liking a huge amount of this anyway! ^_^ Lovely to see 'Make Me A Bird' in another chart - absolutely sublime track. I'm still a bit in love with everything about 'Open Season' and I love the lyrics and production on 'The Heart Wants What It Wants'. That's definitely Selena's best for me (though 'Love You Like A Love Song' remains a major bop). :music: 'All Hands On Deck' is really growing on me now. I was blown away by Tinashe in the video :o. What a star - she needs to go places. I like your Marina picks, particularly 'Better Than That', but then I like pretty much every track on the album. Really enjoyed reading through your commentaries in the 'Froot' rate by the way! I appreciate all the effort that went into that so thanks. :D
  22. :hi: Rob! Very nice blast from the past there! I'd say that's my favourite Saturdays track - that, 'Up' or 'All Fired Up' anyway, and probably their best video as well. ^_^ Liking the entry of 'Shut Up and Dance'! Such an infectious track from start to finish. Really hope it does well in the UK. 'Big Girls Cry' is also a great new one to see. I love the way Sia took some time off after 'Chandelier' and people were getting agitated that there wasn't a follow-up single and then months later she impacts in a huge way, getting a new peak for the album, with the release of 'Elastic Heart'! 'Big Girls Cry' is of that same standard as the previous singles for me so I hope it becomes a hit. Great to see 'Can't Deny My Love' doing well. For me that's such a perfectly crafted song while not following any particular formula and still being experimental with its structure - it kind of reminds me of 'Rolling In The Deep' in that way. Anyway, the 'not gonna, not gonna deny' hook is just immense . A strong contender for my song of the year at the moment. :D Liking the rest of your top 10, particularly 'Lean On', 'Firestone', 'King', 'When The Beat Drops Out' and 'Cheerleader'.
  23. Hi Mango :D Big fan of that rhyming red herring of a subtitle! Nice work. :P Just checked out 'The One' as it's intriguing to see it doing so well on iTunes (currently #11 like whaaat) and I couldn't remember it from listening to the album a couple of months ago. I've always really liked the lead singer's voice and the song's very nice indeed - still a bit surprised it's turning into such a hit though. Regardless, it's always cool to see a good ballad, particularly a post-album release, unexpectedly catch on with the public. Don't really know why 'Seasons' did so poorly for Olly. For me it's one of his most instant, catchiest singles but there you go. 'Lean On' is just sooo good and I've a feeling it hasn't nearly stopped growing on me! The video is a spectacle and suits the track perfectly - well worth watching if you haven't seen it yet. ^_^ I'm not that big on Jamie T's 'Don't You Find' and I think it's because the vocals are very subtle and his accent isn't very strong on it, which must be the big selling point of his music for me! Some other great stuff in here, particularly the new entries of 'Cheerleader' and 'Talking Body'.
  24. Hi :D Yup, 'Talking Body' will definitely be making an appearance! Really hit me recently with the help of the video. I guess the fact that it's unexpectedly turned into a hit in America slightly makes up for the criminal handling and wasted potential of 'Not On Drugs'...I still prefer the latter though. -_- Ah, glad 'Hush' has grown on you, as it has with me. I still find it odd that you immediately described it as being like 'a distorted 1989 track' which was exactly my impression! Great to see it qualified alongside 'Dynamite' anyway, which was another grower for me so I hope it does well for you! Haven't heard Dawn Richard's album but appreciate the recommendation and would definitely be interested going off 'Tide'. ^_^ 'Jealous' hasn't got old for me, despite how it looks on the chart - been playing it consistently for the last four months! Just a great pop song with verses almost as catchy as the chorus. Still haven't heard the Tinashe remix but I've read good things about it on here (naturally) so will do so soon. B-) Thanks!

Video's out! 3O2qp-uKWlI Can't get enough of this at the moment! So infectious :music:
