Cheryl - Only Human
^ That's a real shame, especially as it's head and shoulders (/l'oreal shade :o) above the other two singles, which got support. If only she cared enough to promote post-album singles and it'd stand a much better chance of catching on despite being snubbed. -_- I'm still loving it anyway. :music:

Noahspike's Top 50 - February 2015
(dancingman) I did not know this . You have 24 hours to rectify that horrific situation of yours and report back or I'm cutting all ties. :bounce: Yeah, strangely I wasn't initially inclined to re-listen much, despite it leaving a big impression from the off. I've since been playing it a bit though and it's still growing. Gahhh, the video is too much of a masterpiece to avoid . Just avert your eyes for a few seconds around the 2.40 mark and you'll be grand! Yes indeed, Jake on plug.dj @ 4.30am ha impact to be specific! Ahhh, delighted you're a fan of 'Not On Drugs'. Sublime song and one of my favourite choruses of the last while. Thx :D Hi James, thanks for commenting! Nice to see we've a fair bit of overlap! Yeah I'd love 'One Last Time' to do well but I'm not holding my breath after 'Love Me Harder' underperformed. -_- Ha, yeah I adore 'Out of the Woods' (and I saw it was a #1 for you as well!). I'm impatiently awaiting the single announcement. :arrr: Cheers Martin! :D Thanks for all your comments Josh! Interesting you say that re: 'Perfect Ruin'. It wasn't at all instant for me but lately I've found it incredibly impactful, especially the way it builds gradually throughout and the final chorus is awesome . I'm sort of at a loss as to why I haven't seen many other fans of it but perhaps people need to give it time. -_- I don't know what the hell they were going for with the 'One Last Time' video and don't really have any desire to watch it again but it helped the song make an impact on me so job well done I guess! Ha, glad we were close to finally getting a point or two from Ajanaeda anyway! The song and Eves in general are quite Lorde-esque to me so I guess it makes sense that you like it! And thanks, coming second was very pleasing. :D I completely agree about Florence. It's amazing that she's still so fresh and exciting as an artist (reminiscent of when she first emerged on the scene, even) despite having achieved such mainstream success for a considerable time. I listened to about half the Olly album (think I had to go out and never played the rest rather than getting bored!) and 'Seasons' was the clear highlight so yep, I'm happy with the choice! 'Touch' took me massively by surprise and I'll admit I had a bit of a preconceived notion of what his stuff would be like prior to listening. Ended up as my favourite entry of the contest. :o Yeah I'll definitely be looking out for more from Jack Garratt too. ^_^ Thanks again!

Josh's Top 50 | 01/03/15
Hiii Josh, hope you're well :D Excellent #1! I've been anticipating the return of Florence and 'What Kind of Man' ticks a lot of boxes for me. Outstanding video in its own right but the perfect accompaniment to the track (and especially to that chorus ). Very much liking the direction the album seems to be taking. Interesting to see 'Lay Me Down' so high here. How would that rank against the rest of Sam's singles for you? I unexpectedly really liked the sound of it during his BRITs performance, having been indifferent to it previously. Will probably get tired of it soon enough though :drama:. I'd imagine the single choice is highly unlikely to quieten his rampant hate brigade on here given it's not exactly showing a different side to him! Nice to see you supporting our fellow BJSC 65 debutant there with 'Make Me Feel Better' :cheer:! Very happy to see that set to do decently on the official chart. 'One Last Time'. That's been hitting me hard of late and when I try to anayse it, I don't really understand why . Whatever, I'd love to see it go top 40 officially and avenge the criminal flop of 'Love Me Harder'! Really like your BJSC standouts! 'Somebody' narrowly missed out on points from me while 'Touch', 'Steal My Attention', 'Tide: The Paradox Effect', 'St. Patrick' and 'Avenir' were my top 5! :o

Mango's Top 40 (02/03/15)
:hi: Mango! I feel like 'Sia later' was a missed opportunity for your thread subtitle (or not, depending on your tolerance for shit humour). :magic: Same #1 :cheer:! Loooooove 'King'. Still not as good as 'Take Shelter' for me but it's such a standout pop song in the current musical landscape ^_^. I'll be very happy to watch it blow up everywhere over the next while. 'Champagne Kisses' is slowly growing on me thanks to the unexpectedly great video. Still nowhere near the best on the album though IMO (that'd be 'Tough Love'). I'm interested to see that The Vaccines are in your top 10. Really liked their debut album and some songs from their second but haven't heard any of the newer stuff. Your approval bodes well though. :D 'Heartbeat Song' suddenly sounded very good to me the other day :o. I hadn't thought much of it before, despite being a fan of Kelly, mainly because the lyrics really stood out to me as being below par but it's an undeniably catchy track regardless. I've always loved the bridge. 'Make Me Feel Better' is a real gem. Listened to it for a bit months ago and had largely forgotten about it since but now that it's been released I'll happily revisit. B-)

Conor Maynard - Talking About
@ Haus I'm the exact same with regard to my basic 'enjoyment' of and tendency to re-listen to a song - that would be unaffected. In this case I don't really have an inclination to listen to the song again as it didn't leave too much of an impression but if it did, the artist or anything else about it wouldn't prevent me from doing so. I guess it could potentially be a guilty pleasure at worst but I'd still listen to it. I had thought you were referring more generally to the criticisms/evaluations when you said 'view' and not just to people's enjoyment of the song being influenced so I may have misinterpreted that. :D

Conor Maynard - Talking About
This is an interesting point and having thought about it, I don't think that allowing a particular artist's history/trajectory/past material influence your judgement on a new track is necessarily a bad thing. There's different ways you could evaluate a song, or any piece of work, and judging something based solely in its own merits and isolated from the artist in question and wider context isn't always satisfactory. When you feel there's a significant amount of rebranding and trend-chasing behind a comeback single, as it seems a few people do in this case, I think it's fair to take that into account and I guess to allow it 'tarnish' your view of the single campaign to a degree. If this same song was released by Jess Glynne, for instance, it wouldn't feel as contrived to me, mainly because it's the kind of sound she's made her name on and genuinely seems to like (and I know there's such a thing as musical progression etc. but it just doesn't feel like that's as much the case here)! As I said before though, I do think the song itself is good but the overall package seems entirely unconvincing, at least right now. By the way, I'm sort of thinking out loud here and not saying you're wrong with what you said - I just found it interesting and am a bit bored!

Conor Maynard - Talking About
I just watched a Conor Maynard video in which he's on full-on forced cheeky chappy mode like never before and I survived the whole way through. :o That said, everything about the song+video package takes unconvincing to a new level (and that was always his forté). It's a decent enough track if you remove all of the context though.

Riser Monthly
Hello to (no idea what this means/where it came from but it seems to be the new hip way to greet people on here) ^_^ Your #1 . I remember both of us were put off somewhat by Kanye's verse at first but I quickly grew to love it and it seems you did too. A bit of a masterstroke of a comeback single for Rihanna and it worked incredibly well at the Grammys with all three of them on stage - one of my favourite Grammy performances ever, I think. Really liking 'Sugar' these days, although the chorus still grates a bit for me. I'm amazed that it's doing so well everywhere. Really shows the power an inspired music video can have when it catches on (assuming that's the main reason the song's become such a big hit and I'm not missing something). We have matching #8's for Eves! Actually, I'm surprised it's there at all as I wasn't sure you if you tend to chart BJSC songs/discoveries? I listened to it today and it's never sounded better. Would love it to do something commercially. Hopefully Australia and New Zealand will be kind at least, knowing them (currently #155 in Oz :cheer:). That's quite a fall for 'Blank Space' :o. Its appeal has worn off a lot for me now but I'd probably still see it as the best single from the album so far, though 'Style' is currently growing on me a lot. I presume your favourite is (still) 'Shake It Off' overall?

New Tkay! ILTathezSyc Not quite as strong as some of her others for me but another solid track. This girl is very special. In other news, the 'Brontosaurus' hook tends to be in my head for at least 20 minutes every day.

Jay's Top 40 (#530)
Hi Jay and belated happy birthday - hope you enjoyed! Your #1 seems very popular on here but I really can't get into it :drama:. The production's great but I just find the lyrics far too repetitive and the song generally unexciting. Don't really know why because repetitive lyrics are pretty much irrelevant to a track like 'Doing It' but it irks me unfortunately. -_- I adore 'One Last Time' - gorgeous track . It's grown so much on me over the last few days, having found it pretty unremarkable at first. Ariana's really bringing it with the post-album singles. Great to see 'FourFiveSeconds' climbing nicely! I recall you not being a fan at first. It seems the video and then the Grammy performance (unsurprisingly) converted a lot of people. I still find it hard to compare the song to Rihanna's other lead singles - it needs to sit a while yet, but I could see it being up there with her best in time. Love her delivery on it in particular. Really like 'Somebody' by the way! Not enough for points in the contest as the overall quality was so high but it was great to see you finish top five with it. :D
