liamk97's Favourite Records of the Week
:hi: Liam! Seems that you, like myself, aren't tiring of 'King' at all! I play that so much that I'm really putting myself in danger of going off it before it's even released but it's such an enjoyable listen that that's just not happening, thankfully! Seems to be universally popular on Buzzjack too which is nice for a male act (regardless of style/genre)! Wasn't too keen on 'Hold My Hand' on first listen and I haven't revisited. I hear the video helps bring it alive though so must check that out. I'm really liking 'Style' at the moment, especially the instrumental. 'Blank Space' is great but I can see 'Style' holding up better in the long-run for me as its proving more of a grower. I adore everything about 'What Makes a Man' (although I haven't been playing it much, strangely). Florence rarely disappoints me so I'm very excited to hear more from the new album. That's quite a run for 'One Day' :o! Can't say I'm mad on the track but it's a standout on the album certainly. Nothing could touch 'Iron Sky' for me though. EDIT: Just realised Florence's song is 'What Kind Of Man' rather than 'What Makes a Man' - didn't notice the error at the time! :drama:

Brandon Flowers - The Desired Effect
Nice album title! I am very much here for this.

BJSC LXXII - Final Results
Fantastic winner - well done once again, Cameron! I'm over the moon that 'TV' came second :cheer: (which is obviously Desbuanda's highest finish and points total :D)! Thanks again to everyone who voted and it's great to see I'm very much not alone in my love for the song . I was convinced the hype for it didn't have a lot of substance as it seemed to come from nowhere all of a sudden after the semis (although fair play to Rich for calling it early!) but it's nice to be proven wrong! Very happy that Persephonia and Daehun came top 5 (particularly to see the former outperforming expectations) and great that Terra Di Campioni secured a high finish too. Really love all three of those tracks. Also, wasn't too keen on the song but congrats to Danaelanda on the long-awaited top 10! Something nice for Dan to wake up to I'm sure. ^_^ Great teamwork on presenting the results guys and thanks John for all your work over the course of the contest!

Congrats Cameron! Loved your entry so it's a very well deserved win. :D Also thanks to Bignia, Sandénia, Numayania and #00274E for hopefully helping 'TV' secure that medal finish.

Nice to exchange top marks with you over consecutive contests, Dandy! :D Also yay for Cumulonimbia and Oslol points. :cheer: Hushkanukia pulling away from the rest now and really can't complain as I love 'St. Patrick'. EDIT: Also an Ultra-v point http://fun.resplace.net/Emoticons/Dead/DeadBanana.gif

BJSC LXXII - Final Results
Thanks for the 8's Kylienips and Singerpurear  Delighted to see Persephonia doing so well! I had thought it may be a bit of a dark horse (but I guess it's still early days ). Would very much like Terra Di Campioni back in the top 10 and for N-Lazone to get a move on, cheers. ^_^ Klum :o! Thank you <3

BJSC LXXII - Final Results
:hi: Glad to be here for this (although I do still think 'TV' has been significantly overhyped)! Was not expecting anywhere near a 12 from FSR Rontvia though - I believe they're Desbuanda's first ever Rontvian points, thanks! Belated thanks also to Terra Avium for the 12 :o and Unovia, Persephonia (I get the Lorde comparison as well!) Séyetana and D'yermak'er. :D

Kelly Clarkson - Invincible
I wouldn't exactly say she's on a 'slump' when her last studio album outsold its predecessor in most markets :P. Just the fact that she's still around and challenging the top 10 with a mediocre lead single 12 years into her career is extremely impressive. That said, I'm not expecting this album to return her to 'Stronger' levels of prominence or anything. 'Invincible' is indeed Sia all over but it's great that Kelly didn't end up emulating her vocal style as has been the case with others. Not the most instant track but it shows off her voice wonderfully and is definitely something different for her. Liking it a lot.

One Last Time • 4th Single
This song. Having not heard the album, I never would have thought anything on it could top 'Love Me Harder' but this is putting up a good fight currently. I just played it four times in a row and sat at my desk in a trance instead of doing my assignment.

BJSC LXXII - Grand Final
Votes have been sent after far too much indecision :drama:. Couldn't separate my top three - unfortunately nothing was absolutely outstanding in the context of the competition like 'Christine' was to me last month but I would have been happy giving top points to any of them. Very strong quality final for the most part. ^_^

Conor Maynard - Talking About
Ha, they were my thoughts exactly and prompted me to check out his Twitter to see if it was a one-off or not! I appreciate that it was probably said in jest but if that's his concept of humour and the way he talks to his followers then he's definitely not my type of person. I hate when popstars patronise their followers/casual fans as if they live and breathe for any updates.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 22nd February 2015
Well she did have a song named after her on the year's biggest selling album if that's any consolation. ^_^
-
Olly Murs - Seasons
I love 'Seasons'. Really infectious bridge and chorus. I've been playing it a lot over the last week or so and would love to see it do well. That's two excellent singles in a row after the underwhelming 'Wrapped Up'.

Conor Maynard - Talking About
His Twitter bio thing tells me everything I need to know about him. 'They say it's lonely at the top, that's why I plan to take all of you with me.' I vommed.

Tove Styrke 'Kiddo' · March 16 2015
Embarrassingly late to Tove having been introduced to 'Borderline' and 'Ego' a few days ago but I can say I'm a big fan of both tracks, the latter slightly more so. Really impressive stuff and she's very captivating onscreen - a real star :o. Looking forward to more.

Daehun's National Thread
Instantly hooked.

Do you think Sam Smith deserves his success?
I agree with all of this. I've never been able to buy into him as everything about him since late 2013 has seemed so obviously orchestrated. The 'male Adele'-esque trajectory he's followed with all the milestones along the way; Sound Of.../Critics' Choice awards, big emotional ballad for album release and its subsequent ubiquity, SNL and the huge promo push he got in America, prominence at the VMAs, Grammy nominations and wins, the upcoming BRITs...it's all seemed incredibly contrived, like there's a solid strategy in place and boxes are being ticked rather than him achieving things more naturally and based primarily on merit. There's always been a distinct lack of substance to 'Stay With Me' and it's annoying to see it get such massive exposure and acclaim as his signature song, especially when he has significantly better material on the album. I also get the sense that he's very much got a public persona for interviews etc. and could be quite different behind the scenes - there's just something quite disingenuous about his personality in general. So in short, no not really :D (though I do like a good few of his songs).

Desbuanda
Indeed and don't think it hadn't been noticed/appreciated :D. That's quite an impressive trend actually - of course it's very much helped by the fact that we haven't been in separate semis since the 'false start' (<_<) but still! And ooh, the return of Persbuanda is looking more likely than ever. :o
-
Desbuanda
True, I'd forgotten that.
-
Desbuanda
Reaching ?! Nah, all the signs are blindingly obvious! And thanks, appreciate it. This hype, it's all so sudden :drama:! Don't know what to make of it really as the song doesn't sound/feel like a big contender to me for whatever reason (despite loving it obviously)! Thanks though, we will see... Ha, cheers Callum, you have! You were there for 'You Always Know The DJ' when barely anyone else was - in fact I believe you were responsible for 10 of its 21 points! Glad you got the appeal.

YTD T40 Singles/Albums (with estimated sales)
Looks like this will be the week the sales of '+' are overtaken by those of its follow-up. Would have thought that would be too big an ask back when 'x' was released, let alone for it to be done when a fourth single hasn't even impacted yet! Ignoring the relentless popularity of 'Thinking Out Loud' when 'Don't' was struggling somewhat to take off and saving the push for it for the Christmas period really was a great (non-) decision on the label's part. Interesting to see Paloma and Paolo so close in overall sales, as the albums were side-by-side or thereabouts in the chart for months (and they were together last week too). Looks like they'll both hit double platinum the week after next. I'm sort of amazed The Script's album will easily surpass platinum. Its consistency in the top 20 over the last few months has been remarkable. I know they're MOR/mass appealing etc. but 'Superheroes' never felt particularly big and with Danny off The Voice, everything seemed to point to them suffering a severe sales decline ('#3' is on just under 500k) before the album's release. They're a much bigger chart force in their own right than I'd thought. Also still at a loss as to how Dolly Parton and Barbra Streisand have each sold nearly 400k albums in the UK in this day and age! Fair play to them.
