  1. It's actually Irish for Tim, funnily enough! :o
  2. Really impressive show. I don't think I've ever heard her sound that good, particularly on 'I Kissed A Girl' and 'Firework'! She definitely did herself justice. Great setlist too - even the inclusion of 'California Gurls' worked well. :o

I think I might know who/what you're talking about. Colour me intrigued anyway, especially as I love your last entry. :D
  6. Came across this a week ago and have been completely hammering it since! I was immediately struck by the lyrics and I agree that they help set the song apart from the norm of the genre. It has real hit potential too so I hope that's realised (in her native Australia at least).

  8. Same! Such an outstanding athlete and I've always liked her personality, despite some questionable incidents. (Love Venus more though ). I can only really see Williams taking it but it'd be great to see Sharapova manage it too.
  9. Celebrity Juice is the definition of guilty pleasure. Veeeeery questionable humour, often full of attention-seeking Z-list guests (not to mention it's the means through which Jedward have managed to avoid plummeting into obscurity) but somehow the formula works quite well overall!
  10. Fair enough if people don't like it for whatever reason but I completely fail to understand how 'Take Me To Church' can be described as 'dull' given its lyrics and the passion in its vocals. plz learn new negative adjectives, thx.

That is quite a spectacular cover! Who knew that song could sound so beautiful. :o Thanks for posting (:))

Wassup! Ok you were right, I definitely didn't see that #1 coming whatsoever :o. I was initially indifferent to 'Real Love' but it's worked its magic on me since. Great production and lovely, simple lyrics - definitely a case where repetition enhances a song, rather than detracts from it as can often be the case. I heard that Maroon 5 song the other day for the first time and the song ended up being very much secondary to my viewing of the video. I've no idea if it was good or not but I remember hearing the 'Birthday' similarities at the start that everyone talks about! You seem to be coming around to sombre Selena slowly but surely! :cheer: Also love 'Pretend'. I've never quite understood how/why '2 On' gets so much attention when that's far superior for me but there you go. And finally, die waves die :puke2: (:o :()
  13. :hi: 'Blank Space' still utterly slayin' it, I see :o. That's had a much slower burn rate than its predecessor for me. A really effective, high-quality pop song. Interestingly, my first and second listen of 'Experience' constituted perhaps my biggest turnaround for a song in BJSC ever! I found the vocals so grating at first and couldn't see past that. Luckily I gave it another go because it's a real gem and unlike anything else I've heard. Interested to see what else she'll come up with. Also great to see 'Christine' getting rewarded here after growing on you too late for the contest! Really love 'The Heart Wants What It Wants'. A perfect song in every way for Selena and possibly my favourite of hers, although there's tough competition with 'Love You Like A Love Song'. A shame it's set to under-perform in the UK. Will have to check out Unknown Pleasure's 'What Could It Be' :o. Never heard of them or it - sounds v intriguing.
  14. Hi Mango! Don't think I've ever commented on a chart of yours but I've generally got a sense before from your charts and elsewhere that we have a lot of overlapping taste. ^_^ Adore your #1 . Still sounds amazing despite its age. Also excellent to see Ellie climbing high - that song's really grown on me too so I'll be happy to see it potentially become a 'Burn'-sized hit for her. Nice to see that Kodaline song in your top 10! Fantastic comeback from them so I hope it'll do well. There's a part of it towards the end that really reminds me of 'Mr. Brightside', which is no bad thing. I keep forgetting to check out that Tourist ft. Years & Years track. Have always liked the former and am loving everything I've heard from the latter so I have very high hopes for it! :D
  15. The lyrics are lazy for the most part. 'You're a different, different kind of fun', 'I got pins and needles on my tongue' (is this possible?!), But I never would have had a doubt/If I'd have known where I'd be now (Of course you wouldn't have had a doubt if you'd known - that's how it works :drama:), the whole 'up up up all night long' hook. It's all a bit basic and beneath where she should be at now. Come on now, Kelly. :/
  16. Hi Rob! Nice climb for 'Lighthouse' there! I'm getting concerned it's not going to do much which is a bit surprising given the overwhelmingly positive online reaction to it and its video, not to mention the fact it sounds like a big radio hit on its own merits (to me anyway). Got my fingers crossed for it anyway. There's a lot of stuff here I need to check out such as Vance Joy's 'Mess Is Mine' and Echosmith's 'Come Together'. I'm not a fan of 'Cool Kids' but I can see they definitely have potential and 'Riptide' never gets old so your inclusion of their follow-ups bodes well!

Hi Josh! Fantastic to see 'Elastic Heart' so high despite being so ancient! I hammered this when it first came out and then forgot about it for most of last year and I can't get over how fresh it manages to sound now! Possibly her best ever for me. That's some nice longevity for 'You & I (Forever)'! It's really grown on me since being made a single, making it's almighty floppage all the more frustrating :arrr:. The video is just as lovely as the song so it's a real shame the release was so overlooked. A lot of other great stuff here - particularly love that Lapsley song at the moment which I only came across the other day.
  18. Never has my desire for a song to do well been so at odds with my appreciation of said song! :drama: Kelly's a great personality and popstar but this is so amateur, uninspired and got boring incredibly quickly :(. Her talent should be being heard on much better material.
  19. I don't know about that, personally! The format of Alan's show works because he gets an opportunity to make it all about himself, which isn't necessarily a criticism - his self-deprecating humour is entertaining (but does often come across as obviously scripted to me). Graham's strength is in allowing the personalities of his guests shine, despite them being grouped with others they seemingly have nothing in common with, and then providing the laughs himself when needed. He's very skilled in his role as the whole thing feels way more natural to me and he manages to get more out of guests who are often very guarded in other show formats. So yay go Graham etc. :cheer:

I am completely obsessed with 'U-Huh'. Her delivery is everything. chiddybangbangchiddybangbangchiddybangbangchiddybangbangchiddybangbang :music:

Don't really follow the show but just watched Esmée's bit out of interest. I would have originally thought this but I actually think it makes quite a lot of sense from her perspective and could work. She's working in a frozen yoghurt shop and is (supposedly) back at square one. She's had moderate success in the UK so it could be an effective platform for her with casual fans of hers likely to immediately get behind her, helped also by the sympathy aspect of her story. If she does prove popular on the show, still has contacts and releases something quickly, there's a chance it could catch on. Unfortunately for her though it seems her personality and interpretation of Ricky's comments rubbed a lot of people up the wrong way and now she's being deemed arrogant, affected by fame etc. I don't get it at all - she's a confident person and was clearly having a bit of banter with him but it seems on these shows you have to be noticeably humble and unassuming to make a connection with the general public. People are far too quick to judge. :drama:
  22. Slightly off my tits but just finished catching up yay. :o Very much approve of the winner, obvious as it seemed from the start - congrats on another victory, John! Delighted for Fljotavik! A real dark horse obviously but I was always surprised by the low predictions/odds. Definitely up there with my favourite BJSC discoveries! Also chuffed to see Harmonica and PRoJ outperform expectations in style (a great first final result for the former) and Trifoski continue their top 10 run (even though I didn't like the song much but that's irrelevant at this stage cos obviously amazing chart runs >>>>> songs!) Aside from that, most of my faves flopped but what can you do. -_- (Yay Daehun top 10 though!) Also, well done Math! You did an excellent job and I really hope you can relax and recover properly from your sickness now. :D

I won't be here as I'm going to a Burns Supper house party, whatever the hell that entails! Calling a semi-shock Daehun win. :o

A younger Shakira? I know what you mean and it's annoying me too now!
  25. 'Ceremonials' was always a more impressive album for me with it being much more cohesive (as I guess a lot of second albums are due to debuts often being a mishmash of styles over a longer time period) while 'Lungs' is hit and miss but has her best songs. The whole thing is comparable to Marina and the Diamonds' album trajectory actually - hopefully she'll bring back the quirks of 'Lungs' with the precision of 'Ceremonials' and deliver her 'Froot' (- hope I'm not speaking too soon on the latter though ).
