    Got a random notion today to do a personal chart for the first time :o. A weekly chart seems too ambitious for me so I'm hoping I'll be able to keep on top of a monthly one (although I'm already late for October :drama:). Please feel free to comment!

    and oops at a fair few of us predicting Ed Sheeran underneath Coldplay and Paolo Nutini....

    Indeed :drama:. Back in April I was convinced that 'Iron Sky' would be the smash it deserved to be. Probably the most disappointing underperformance of the year for me (thanks, streaming).

    Fair enough! I should have mentioned also that I admire her for trying with these acoustic performances - she didn't have to do them and it can't have been easy for her (even though by rights it should be as a professional singer but whatever)!

    If conveying the emotion of the song means closing her eyes throughout and demonstrating through her incompetence that she's only human, then yes she did that very effectively! :kink:

     

    (For the record, I think her 'Crazy Stupid Love' performance was her best.)

    Haven't a breeze what I'll be sending. Would like to go female (:o) and possibly down-tempo for variety but so far I only have a male-vocalled R&B/rap song which I've been contemplating sending for three contests now, so not ideal. :drama:

    'Counting Stars' was technically post-album, was it not?

     

    I really think 'Thinking Out Loud' is the most impressive one of all those mentioned in recent times though, considering the high sales of the album, it being the second post-album single, the lack of remix/gimmick and lack of featured artist which would widen the appeal. I guess 'The Lazy Song' and 'Meet Me Halfway' were similarly impressive under (most of) those criteria.

    There isnt a formula for getting airplay, otherwise everyone would use it! Ghost is a great song, that probably helps.

     

    Exactly. A large part of why 'Glow' didn't do anywhere near as well as 'Ghost' is simply because the latter is an obvious smash in every sense of the word (incredibly catchy, instant, radio-friendly etc.) I sometimes think that's overlooked when people are analysing Ella's chart success/prospects.

    The idea that the album is being delayed because she wants to perfect it/January feels like the 'right time' or for any reason other than the fact Calvin screwed up the release by taking his songs back and The Voice airs in the new year is laughable! It would be so refreshing if popstars were allowed be honest about these kinds of things.

    I was obsessed with this group as a kid. Watched their TV shows religiously, played their albums on a loop on my discman, had random merchandise, went to their concert with my mum and brother and it blew my nine year old mind! Hannah was my first crush and I fell hard :heart:

     

    Can't help feeling this reunion will be tragic in every respect though :unsure:

    Interesting observations:

    - Terra di Campioni are certified Desbuanstans :cheer:, giving us maximum points in the two finals we've contested since they joined :heart:

    - Other notable loons are Séyetana, Zechonia and Greenfroze, who've sent points our way in all three of our finals (although we've only returned the favour to Séyetana so far :unsure:)

    - We've voted for Trifoski 4/5 times.

    - It seems our consistent FSR Rontvia and N DNTN love is unrequited :drama:

    - Persbuanda is not only an actual thing now, it is in equilibrium :banana:

    - Desmark is also in equilibrium :o

    - Republic of Adonia is the only of our one-pointers that's received further pointage from us.

    - Utopia like to drip feed us.

    - I must remember to get a life one of these days.

    I find the whole scenario of Cheryl having an acoustic jamming session with an array of musicians and soul singers and it being presented in v authentic black+white quite amusing but actually, that arrangement of 'Crazy Stupid Love' worked pretty nicely, well, until she attempted some 'belts' at the end :o.

     

    I hope they did the title track and it's released soon :w00t:

    I'm inclined to believe it wasn't premeditated murder and indeed a case of grave misjudgment/negligence/paranoia-fuelled stupidity. That said, he deserves to do jail time for it and it's a relief that he will be, given that that was in question. Five years is quite lenient though.
