I'd like to think we're underestimating the voting public in automatically thinking Ashleigh's a goner. After years of losing big, entertaining characters to more bland housemates, I'd imagine it's gradually changing voting behaviour. Nobody can disagree that Ashleigh is infinitely more entertaining and valuable than Marlon (it's actually impossible - I think even Calum would struggle) so I think there's actually a decent chance of him going. Marlon is often arrogant and vulgar when he's not busy being an utter non-entity. Helen is still fairly unpopular and Ashleigh is her only remaining enemy. Toya and Matthew had a lot of fans and they were clearly losses to the show so hopefully people will think a bit more about who they're voting out. I caught a bit of yesterday's BOTS and it was pretty pro-Ashleigh. There is hope!
  2. ^ Ha thanks! I had to pause and rewind when I heard him come out with that last line !

Yeah I agree, they're very entertaining together and Ashleigh is definitely a unique housemate whose eviction would be the biggest loss to the show. I'm thinking Marlon has a good chance of being nominated as well and may get enough votes to be evicted over her (hopefully anyway).

Just caught up with the last three episodes. So annoyed with Matthew leaving - he was easily one of my favourites and I didn't even think the controversial/negative aspects of his personality or behaviour in any way justified him being evicted over Ash. I think there was a bit of an anti-Ashleigh element to his vote that I hadn't anticipated as I was sure Ash would go :arrr:. Chris was right in saying he'll be a huge loss in terms of varied conversation and social intelligence.

Danielle and Winston are absolutely hilarious together :D. I love their bizarre, confused chemistry that seemingly came out of nowhere over the last few days. I properly lol'ed at Danielle recalling Winston's rap about her big tits like it was some sort of deeply sentimental and profound piece of poetry ! Also the way she was making out that she'd got loads of love letters and poems in the past but none were as special as Winston's?! And telling him that she's never been in a bed with a guy? The girl is such a bundle of contradictions and is clearly a compulsive liar but she's so entertaining and endearing!

  4. the video helps, I know it sounds stupid but the lyric video with the actual trumpet pictures made them seem much worse, still not keen on those bits at all but it's such a tiny portion of the song!

Yeah I can't believe how the song sounded so cheap and almost like a joke when watching the lyric video but now sounds so much better with the official video. Never realised quite how significant visuals can be!

  5. ^ Disagree. Kvitova was phenomenal and would have beaten anyone the way she played today. Absolutely spectacular performance. Unfortunately the score doesn't reflect the fact that Bouchard played very well and it wasn't a case of underperforming or being overwhelmed by the occasion - she was just completely dominated by Kvitova and wasn't allowed to get a look in. It wasn't a good match at all though.

On another note, I really don't understand all the criticism* Bouchard seems to get about being arrogant and self-obsessed. It seems to stem from the fact that she's quite businesslike in interviews and for example, answers questions about whether she's surprised to be in the final with 'no I'm not surprised because I put a huge amount of work in...' rather than the more typical 'yes, it's a dream come true...'. She's confident, ambitious and matter-of-fact, qualities which some people continue to confuse with arrogance, especially when expressed by an attractive young woman. Hate to go there but it just grinds my gears! There are also mentions of the amount of publicity around her being the new glamorous face of tennis (not her fault), Laura Robson and herself not being friends anymore (understandable considering the high-pressure, competitive environment they're in) and taking a lot of selfies (she's 20). Give the girl a break :arrr:.

    * I'm aware that the Daily Mail comments are not a place to find measured opinions but I can't believe that every mention of Bouchard was in the vein of 'glad to see her taken down a peg or two'.

Ash hasn't been too awful this week, a part of me quite likes him, but only a very small part. He's the worst of who's up though.

This is exactly why he needs to go now IMO - unfortunately he's managing to grow on me! He has been made very aware by BB (via the Danielle task) of how badly he's been coming across, which, combined with the bad boos and head-to-head with Toya, has made him heavily tone down the arrogant, laddish side of him. While this is good in a way, I don't like it when housemates' behaviour is very influenced by viewer perception (i.e. Mark but at least he's funny!) and he seems desperate to stay so I can only see him managing to win people over if he's allowed to continue his reinvention. He'd be no big loss anyway as I don't think he's particularly entertaining.

  8. Sounds absolutely ginormous. Would probably have done better a few years ago but I can still see it being very big indeed. I immediately thought of 'We Can't Stop'/'Wrecking Ball' in terms of a one-two punch of massive hits from a child-actor-turned-popstar-seeking-mainstream-success but the 'Climax'/'Scream' comparison definitely works regarding the songs themselves.

 at this whole article and the way they make it seem like she booked an interview just to spill the beans on Cheryl's career! Oh Kimbo. Bit unfair as I'm sure she was actually there to promote the single but the fact that she talks about Cheryl so much is very Sinitta-esque.
  10. Strong females attract most hate (as in people want to spend money to vote to evict a loud female) and we're running out of them. Ashleigh might be next :( If in 2012 they had vote to evict then Deana would probably be gone long before the final as well. And Ashleigh would've stayed for much longer if it was a vote to save this time.

    Stupid people.

The thing is though, strong loud females are always popular with die-hard fans and forum dwellers (to the point where sometimes I think there's double standards that favour them but that's off-topic!). I think Jack made a point recently about forums now having more of a say in evictions with viewership and voting numbers on the decline, which I think could be true with the evictions so far (Toya was very polarising). I think as it is, Ashleigh has a lot of good/entertaining qualities that may have more of a chance now of translating into votes for her competition when she's up for eviction.

  13. Really really gutted :( I have no idea what even happened, Murray just didn't turn up at all today. It wasn't even a close match. Credit to Dimitrov that he did play well but there's no ignoring that Andy Murray just didn't bring his game at all. Such a shame, going into that match, he looked just about the best player in the competition, but it really didn't happen for him today. Not even close *sighs*

Yeah I think he may have come into it slightly unfocused as he hadn't really been tested in his previous matches. It seemed that he didn't come out fighting, in stark contrast to Dimitrov, and it was an uphill struggle for him from the off. Shame that he didn't even give the crowd a good match though. Interestingly, Dimitrov just said in his interview that he sensed Murray wasn't on his game during the warm up.

Anyway, I wish that pairing hadn't happened in the QF as I would have ideally wanted them in the final but regardless, I'm delighted for Dimitrov.

  15. Are they Irish chart runs? Where does one get them?

Yeah they are and I'm not sure if you can get them anywhere. I just did them up from the Irish chart thread (which was quite laborious given TMTC's longevity!)
