  1. If only Jordan ventured into Odds/Predictions threads before results occur - I'd imagine he'd be feeling pretty *.*.*.* http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ed2305b7.png *.*.*.* with this response to Harmonica's big comeback. :o
  2. Hi Joseph, feels like ages! Hope you're well. :D Great pair of Bieber features on top there, with both making for nice and easy summertime listening. Might just about prefer 'Cold Water' due to MØ's presence. Also a big fan of your #3 <3. Definitely the song with the most hit potential from JoJo's newfound freedom, much as I love 'Save My Soul'. Wiz's contribution complements seamlessly too, rather than feeling tacked on for much-needed attention. Hope it can fulfil some of its potential but even that's probably asking too much. -_- Yay for top 10 for Tove, and the 'Heathens' new entry too. :cheer: The Tom Odell album seems to have really delivered then? Haven't checked it out yet but will definitely get on it soon!
  3. Yeah, I can appreciate it for how great and inescapable it felt at the time, even if I'm not inclined to ever listen to it of my own accord. I remember hearing the Ryan Seacrest premiere and being instantly blown away by its sheer magnitude. I think the video really did that justice too.
  4. I hear (a more vocally powerful) Sophie Ellis Bexter, especially on 'in your way'. Wonderful stuff, as I've come to expect from Fljótavík.
  5. ^ Thanks! I'm really willing this to do well for him.
  6. My social life is at a complete standstill so I'm distracting myself from the fact I have no solid friends in this city to do stuff with on a Saturday by giving BJSC the care and attention it deserves. On my second listen-through and, as well as names I've already seen hyped, Usfland and #00274E are among the standouts. <3

I'm not about to compare it to her back catalogue just yet as it's still too new, but it's certainly a welcome addition. I get why it wouldn't connect with people because the chorus is kind of the definition of underwhelming. Passionless, monotonous, subdued, repetitive. I'm completely hooked though.

Always great when an undeserved flop is recognised as such and isn't forgotten on forums etc., especially when subtlety is central to the appeal of a song like 'In Common', and it could be seen simply as a failed attempt to chase trends. I completely agree that it's a career peak of hers, which is obviously no small feat. I'll always think highly of it.
  9. Oh oops, should've read properly. Good old price reductions. <3
  10. I was thinking along these lines too when I saw it struggling somewhat...but I just can't accept that it's anything but a smash when I hear that chorus. Completely undeniable, which is saying something about the song given his vocal limitations. Always felt like it'd deliver him with a career peak in terms of converging critical and commercial acclaim and, while that's probably a stretch, it's great that it's finally picking up on iTunes now (which is due to what, by the way? Pensmith where you at B-)).

This song is so impressive in general, but it was its sentiment that struck me the most. Cool to hear a song shunning the glory days of childhood/adolescence and celebrating all that's just as good about the present and future. 'Wherever I Go' and this have definitely grabbed my interest for the album.
  12. Sleigh Bells came close to qualifying but ultimately the Desbuandese public grew restless during the song and curious to know the whereabouts of their elusive C and D machines. -_- A 'Matadora' or 'We Can Go Blind' win would be just swell with us though. <3 ~ Currently finalising my Desbuonica votes, Jordan! I've listened through a few times but have decided to throw away all notions of songs' ~legacies~ and am simply going with what's connecting right now...which means there's definitely some surprises in store. Old staples underperforming and underrated gems getting their time to shine? :o :o :o Now hurry up and get back from holiday so we can settle this. B-)

  14. Hey Harry :D Excellent to see so much overlapping taste *.* 'Lost On You' was my favourite discovery from that contest but I never expected it to do anywhere near as well as it did. ;o Thanks!
  15. I felt like this originally and was a bit perplexed by the response on here, but I get its appeal now and hear the hit potential. Still, I definitely find it inferior to the majority of their output, 'Too Good' especially <3. Throwback R&B/garage is where they really shine. Surreal to see them finally getting their long overdue breakthrough though! Can fully support that regardless of the driver.
  16. Glad to see your recent return too! Now all we need's Ajanaeda for the full 65 debutants set. ^_^ No worries at all - was my own fault entirely!
  17. After coming last in 85 and completely forgetting to enter 86 (learnt the hard way about the reliability of Harmonica reminders~), Desbuanda has done the unimaginable and entered this contest *considerably earlier* than 15 minutes of the deadline. :o ^_^ Definitely mean business with this one so get excited *.*

(Who doesn't love a good BUMP just when you thought this ol' thing had long been dead and buried in the dregs of page 4 and your mind had shifted to its replacement! YOU ARE WELCOME ^_^) I really like that Adele gif! It appears the concept works way better in that form than as a full-length video actually :o. The song was obviously a great single choice but unfortunately deteriorated to my ear the way I'd anticipated and now I largely find it annoying :/. Odd for an Adele song as most of her output stands the test of time remarkably well. That top four consistency for Slaylessia (seriously, that girl needs to start slaying less) *.* 'Wild Things' has so much charm to it - rooting for an appearance for the even more charming 'I'm Yours' next month week. I don't know how this figures in our perpetual Selena opinion misalignment but I find the new single *pretty decent* :arrr:. I'll give it a bit before I totally go off it and balance is restored~ Just made use of your handy link and gave 'Unsteady' a listen...but found it a bit plodding and repetitive oops. On the bright side, it did make me revisit 'Renegades'! Was ridiculously late to get on that one, not unlike yourself with 'Gold' B-) (pretty sure mine's worse). Splendid new entries in 'Me Too', 'Sex', 'Into You', 'Too Good' and 'Hair' (Sean Paul's 'How you gon' get me out your hair girl when I bought it' has definite lyric of the year potential). <3
  19. Absolute triumph of a pop song, and easily up there with his best singles for the chorus alone. <3 I...actually think I prefer it overall to 'Run Away With Me'.     (and now I have an excuse for my impending megaflop in the rate :D) I inadvertently heard an Olly gig last weekend in Hyde Park when my friends and I were sitting in the sun outside, and the song sounded crazy good amongst his back catalogue given it was a first-time outing. Already felt like a signature smash/career highlight. :o

'Would you mind if I still loved you?' + tears  + slick choreography + some of his best ever vocals... This release deserves so much more attention <3, and it's wonderful to see him on top of so many aspects of his game so far into his career. I'm wary of comparing it to 'Climax' as that's one of the best mainstream R&B tracks of recent years and this one's been in my life for a little over 24 hours lol, but I just can't get enough of it. That pre-chorus melody especially *.*.*.*

Have to say, it's been somewhat 'relieving' (for want of a better word) in the aftermath of this and other mass shootings to attribute most of the blame for American gun culture to the NRA's current level of seemingly insurmountable power, with the sense that general attitudes are slowly changing and that lives of innocent people are starting to be defended and valued by society above any rights or perceived safety associated with guns (even if that means most of the population is now in favour of stricter background checks only). That way change and legislation seemed at least possible, even if it was to take years to come about. Hearing the anecdotal accounts of Facebook feeds etc. over the last couple of days, both the likes of Jordan's above and from Americans I know, is truly shocking and completely disheartening though. It's scary how educated and otherwise intelligent people can so easily excuse the availability of guns as irrelevant to atrocities like this, and worse still; that pro-gun rhetoric can be legitimately strengthened in response. "If people had guns to defend themselves, if elementary schools had armed security guards" etc... And that's without mentioning the blatant homophobia and racism that's accompanying this all too often. Extremely sad times. RIP to all the victims.
