  1. Yeah, I don't think Trixie is the worst winner we could have an I actually feel kind of sorry for her today because so much of the drag race alumni seem to be saying "justice for Shangela", and there's loads of articles about how the fans aren't happy etc, which can't be nice when you've just won and want to celebrate. I think people would have found it easier to swallow if Shangela and Trixie were top 2 and Ru chose from those two, so it feels somewhat rigga morris that Shangela was pushed out of the top two by a very...odd and nonsensical twist. It makes you wonder if it was done by the producers so that Ru had to choose Trixie, who is kind of a figurehead for the show from her amazing work outside of it. Now I do think Trixie did well in the show, she was better than Roxxy for example, but I don't think she did that much better than Kennedy (who I like a lot too). The two challenges Trixie was top 2 for were two of the most underwhelming challenges of the season.

This was the most liked post of the day on Popjustice and it really rings true to me:

I've said it once and I'll say it again, I don't understand the need to give Trixie a crown for what are essentially off-show achievements when it never translates into anything particularly noteworthy on-show. She is devoured by the format; her performance this season was middling, she was lip synced into oblivion... but there's already a Pop figure with her name on it (pretty much the only distinguishing feature since they all look the f***ing same) so I guess she needs the clout of being a winner despite the fact that all the clout she has was gained away from the show?

Like, it's whatever. Good for her for having carved a massive career for herself independent of Drag Race. It shouldn't be a reason (along with surviving production stunts) to win Drag Race. She didn't need this win, and she certainly didn't deserve it either.

  2. Well it's top 20 on iTunes already so I'd say it's set up to be at least a bigger hit than Best Behavior.

It's quite alright this, possibly the best song of her solo career (i.e. excluding 'Tears') but that isn't saying much.

BB got to #18 on the first day I believe!

  3. Trixie fans are deluded if they don't think this whole series was set up for her annoying, rude, untalented ass to win. I can't even be bothered to watch the finale now. Kennedy to win!

I don’t even think she’s untalented. She’s had a decent enough run and would have been a good top 3. (Behind Shangela and Bendela) But realistically she never really popped on the show, even on the tasks she won, bar some nice runways. But yes, she was always going to win. I feel like VH1 plays up to what the younger, more vocal fans want more than the show used to.

It’s funny that a twist of a lip gimmick won the queen the crown in the last season and this season a twist gave a queen he crown that’s lost every single lip sync she’s done.

    05th: Lonely Together

    13 Votes

Coming in a respectable 5th is 'Lonely Together', Rita's collaboration with Avicii, which was a bit of a surprise hit last year. Avicii threw out two tracks in a time where he's not the hot, in demand dance producer he once was, but he probably didn't realise that Rita would be his hot ticket to another hit! (Neither did any of us). But it was Rita's performance on Strictly Come Dancing which has the song shooting up the charts and the rest was history. 'Lonely Together' is a bit marmite with fans, mainly for the reason that Rita doesn't sound all that much like herself on the track due to the pitching. I like it a lot though! A fun bop.

    Results so far:

    05th - Lonely Together

    06th - Black Widow

07th - How We Do (Party) (Round 10)

    08th - R.I.P. (Round 9)

    09th - Doing It (Round 8)

    10th - Radioactive (Round 7)

    11th - Poison (Round 6)

    12th - Coming Home (Round 5)

    13th - Body On Me (Round 4)

    14th - Hot Right Now (Round 3)

    15th - Shine Ya Light (Round 2)

    16th - New York Raining (Round 1)

17th - Lay Down Your Weapons (Round 1)

  6. Hello Louisa! What’s happening?

Well, I’ve got a fan gig on Thursday so I’ve been rehearsing. It’ll be the first play of the new song! It’s very exciting.

What if they don’t like it?

Oh God! Well, I’m pretty positive they’ll like it…

AS YOU SHOULD BE because this track is very, very strong.

I’m very excited about it. We’ve been holding it back for a long time so it’s about bloody time we get it out there.

Just to be clear, I’m not just saying it’s good in the way journalists always say the new single’s good at the start of an interview before moving on to proper questions. It’s important that we’re on the same page here, this is a really good single.

    Thank you!

When and where did the song happen? What’s the story?

I’d come back from a holiday and I was feeling creative and inspired, as you do when you come back from holiday, and I was getting back into the studio. I went for dinner with Camille, who’s done loads of stuff for Little Mix but has also been a good friend since I was in X Factor. And we went, “oh, f*** it, let’s just get drunk.” Which we did. And then we spoke about everything we wanted to put into a song! It just happened! I blurted out everything I wanted to say, the style of music, the beat, everything. Then she went into the studio and came up with this amazing song.

You see people say alcohol’s bad for you but when it saves your career it can only be a good thing, right?

Well it worked out alright for me!

At what point in your conversation with Camille did you use the words ‘Christina’, ‘Aguilera’ and ‘dirrty’?

WELL. I’ve always loved Christina and I’ve always loved that song. That song just makes you want to take your clothes off! At the moment there’s nothing that makes me want to strip. And I wanted something that made me feel sexy and empowered. I wanted a big song! I wanted to have a big sing! I said to Camille, ‘I want to be a Christina, not a Britney’.

    CAREFUL!

(Laughs) Yeah, I know, right? But you know what I mean.

If you were Syco would you have given this song to you, or would you have kept it for Little Mix?

Oh my God I WOULD HAVE KEPT IT! Yes! YES! I’m not giving this away for nothing!

What’s 2 Chainz doing on this track? Has he been wanting to work with you for a long time or did you just chuck him some cash?

(Laughs) Well I put the song out to a couple of rappers — we were quite careful with who we picked. We wanted someone iconic and I think he’s pretty up there with some of the best rappers. I felt really lucky when he came back and said he liked the song. He was the first who came back and we decided to go with him because… Well, he was the first to come back and say he liked the song.

The single’s a bit like being punched in the face. What’s happening in the video?

I’m not sure how much I’m supposed to give away but I’ll just tell you anyway: it’s a big party which starts off like a very classy and sophisticated dinner party. Then I come in and dance on the table, and the video loops around three times and each time the party gets worse and worse and there are fewer and fewer clothes.

They're certainly hyping this up...a lot. I feel like anything less than 11/10 is going to be a disappointment,

  7. I am not sure where the confidence is coming from, how's the pre-order going?

Pre-order isn't doing too badly at all! She's 38 on Amazon, and the 10th pre-order on iTunes. She was really high on both after the SNT promo so I'd say she's built up some decent numbers, and her album release week promo will make sure she's sorted throughout the week. I think she should do about 20 - 35k in opening week.
