OEkvC7-24Nw BIO Benjamin Steel may still be new to the general public, but he has been a respected name in the music industry for over 10 years.Having been taught piano by his grandmother, Benjamin wrote his first song aged just 7. By 15 he had mastered the guitar and landed his first record deal.Whilst this may have not immediately lead to superstardom due to a personal tragedy within the band, Steel simply dusted himself off and started again. Penniless, and living in a friend’s shed, Steel remained focussed on his musical ambitions. Soon enough he was working in a local studio, writing for local bands and artists. Before he knew it, he was fronting ‘Visitors’, a band championed by BBC 6 Music as One To Watch for the future ahead of their performance at Ibiza Rocks. ‘Visitors’ led to Howe Steel, an EDM based collaboration, which saw Benjamin make a name for himself on the DJ scene and remixing for luminaries that included Rihanna. While Steel enjoyed all the experiences he had garnered, he knew in his heart of hearts that he had to follow his initial goal – the writing and recording of a solo record that would set him apart from his contemporaries. In 2013 he made the journey to Milan where he made his way through all the songs he had ever written, recording them as demos and sending them to record labels and producers in blind faith.

Just checked out 'Temporary View w/Sampha'. Now thats more like it, such a banger and very similar to his earlier stuff! Saying that 'New Dorp' is growing on me...

I second you on that.... such a beautifully crafted track! Just brought the album now, FKA you have my full attention! Anyone else think she will smash and grab the Mercury prize award and we'll end up seeing Damon Albarn sobbing away in the corner?

A few new producers ive recently discovered. In love with Sam Gellaitry's production on 'Reflections' Bearcubs x Tom Misch

The video is great, but the song/production is so soo so tight! Always admired Booka Shades studio skills! managed to see his live show at Sonar festival (Barca 2010) and was completely blown away.

The production is really tight, love how simple the track is but still so effective with the choise of sounds and layers! Think Kygo will be one to keep a close eye on for sure :)
