Well an easy case in point is Amarillo from a few years back. It was on TV channels and all over the radio less than two weeks before release. And what happened? It sold near 250k two weeks in a row and went on to sell close to 1.2m. I know it's a charity single etc etc, but it's still an interesting point.

The mega amount of new entries is for one week only, as i've slightly amended the rules so that now a song can enter two weeks before its physical release - rather than the previous one - but even this can't dislodge Chris Cornell, who enjoys a fourth week on top. Following him in behind - for the fourth week running - is 'Knights Of Cydonia', the former number one from Muse, which enjoys the best opening to a chart run since - ironically - Supermassive Black Hole spent its first eight weeks at number one. Eric Prydz climbs six places to number three to become the highest placed dance track in a chart saturated by it. The early months of the year always seem to provide a plethora of dance tracks, and it's very welcome to blast away the post-Christmas cobwebs and the bleak January weather. Other high placed dance tracks include Sharam 'PATT' (6-5), Cascada 'Truly Madly Deeply' (7-7) and Booty Luv 'Boogie 2Nite' (13-9). A re-recording, and re-issue of The Automatic track 'Raoul' occupies the number four slot - ten months after its original release - and instantly beats its original peak of number nine by a whopping five places. It should climb in the coming weeks. Now to round up all the other new entries in brief; Evanescence enter at number six with the heavy 'Lithium', Just Jack makes a very confident debut on the chart as his track 'Starz In Their Eyes' enters at number ten, Amy Winehouse - with a little help from Ghostface Killah - debuts at number 15 with 'You Know I'm No Good' - and The View claim their third top twenty hit with 'Same Jeans', another track set to climb over the next few weeks. Other new entries include; Freemasons - 'Rain Down Love' (number 22), Jamie T - 'Calm Down Dearest' (number 25), The Ordinary Boys - 'I Luv U' (number 34), Meat Loaf - 'Blind As A Bat' (number 36), Guillemots - 'Annie Let's Not Wait' (number 38), Nerina Pallot - 'Learning To Breathe' (number 44), JoJo - 'Too Little Too Late' (number 48) - and Jarvis just misses the Top 50, with his track 'Don't Let Him Waste Your Time' lingering at number 51.
