Shawn Mendes - Opinions On: Oh Cecilia (Breaking My Heart)
I don't mind but I *hate* Shawn's voice on it, especially when he first comes in - it truly sounds like nails down a chalkboard, and it was my first introduction to him as well so it's a minor miracle I've become as big of a fan as I have. Brad Simpson's nip slip at the start of the video is the best part of the whole experience.

Which Spawn Of Satan do you prefer?
Based on Clean Bandit team-ups, Jess wins by a country mile. Rather Be is one of the few perfect pop songs that 2010's has produced. Solo-wise, I'd say early Anne-Marie was better than Jess overall. Do It Right, Alarm, Ciao Adios and Heavy were all strong releases but her single post-2017 have been truly terrible. 2002 is awful, Perfect To Me is bland and there's no excusing that Rewrite The Stars cover. Her featured work hasn't been great since either. Friends and Don't Leave Me Alone are both really grating. Jess's solo career is bland but at least consistent, I don't viscerally hate any of her songs like I do some of Anne-Marie's. Hold My Hand has been fully killed off by Jet2, but I never liked it much anyway.

Shawn Mendes - Senorita (with Camila Cabello) | 4th single
Seems like if anything's going to knock Old Town Road off the top of the Hot 100 anytime soon, it'll be this.

Shawn Mendes - If I Can't Have You | 3rd single
Beating his previous best debut by 20 places! King! This song is going to be huge isn't it?

Spotify Chart Thread [May 2019]
Delighted Shawn has managed to creep into the Top 10! Hopefully If I Can't Have You manages to have a decent run for him and ACR won't kill it off as dramatically as it killed In My Blood (that 38-88 drop makes me cringe)

Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber - I Don't Care
I actually don't hate it, which is rather miraculous as I am still on major Sheeran/Bieber burn out, but it is rather generic and doesn't seem to have as much of Ed's typical writing style. Honestly, I would not be surprised if this was massive for three or four weeks and then quickly faded away. It's not very catchy.

Shawn Mendes - If I Can't Have You | 3rd single
I'm the complete opposite - I like it more and more every time I listen to it. I did also listen to Stitches after this once and to say his voice has improved in the last few years would be an understatement.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 3rd May 2019
Nice to see Shawn at #2 already, hoping this can be a big hit for him!

Shawn Mendes - If I Can't Have You | 3rd single
To be fair, as an in-between albums single, I don't think it really needed to be a 10/10. It'll do well enough on radio and streaming to keep his name out there whilst he goes on tour. It starts off really strong, but starts to run out of ideas about 2 minutes in.

Shawn Mendes - If I Can't Have You | 3rd single
oTJ-oqwxdZY Not quite as immediate as TNHMB but a lot more energy than anything in his last era. I like it a lot. His arms are incredibly distracting however.

Me! (feat. Brendon Urie) • 1st Single
It's nice enough, I guess. But it doesn't feel like something that really grabs you. Shake It Off & Look What You Made Me Do made the world sit-up and notice, for better or worse, but Me! is fading from my memory as soon as I'm doing listening to it. If it is an *event* it's an event because Taylor is the biggest pop star in the world, not because the song provokes any real discussion as was the case with her last few lead singles. I guess there's an argument somewhere that it shouldn't necessarily need too but I've become accustomed to that being the case whenever Taylor starts a new era. She's become very good at setting a tone for her era's with the first single. Shake It Off introduced us to Pop!Taylor, who was evolving and evaluating her own image within the industry and started a somewhat meta approach to her own style which we saw analyzed and turned to 11 with Blank Space. Look What You Made Me Do cultivated an image of angry, revenge driven Taylor that offered further deconstruction of her good girl image throughout the Reputation era. I liked that the era ended on Delicate, which seemed to strike the balance between old and new Taylor. The most I can say about this one is....it's nice, and I don't hate it. I might even grow to quite like it. But it feels very pedestrian. I could see Camila Cabello or Bebe Rexha producing this and it going utterly ignored because they're not big names. But if it's setting a precedent for this new era, then I guess we're going to be getting a lot of nice if uninspiring and slightly insipid pop music? Not the worst thing in the world, but it feels like a bit of a downgrade to me. I may also be one of like...4 people in the world who doesn't like Brandon Urie all that much which obviously isn't helping the case. I do like the music video though, and I love the imagery of the snake at the beggining turning into a hoard of butterflies. Very clever.

Shawn Mendes - If I Can't Have You | 3rd single
Very exciting news! Hope it's good, he's been nothing if not consistent with those writers and producers for a few years.

Shawn Mendes | 3rd album
He's gonna be knackered poor lamb! I'm guessing there's *something* new must be on it's way what with him going on SNL a week on Saturday.

benny blanco, Selena Gomez, J Balvin - I Can't Get Enough
Hated this at first but it’s really grown on me in the last few weeks!

Top 100 Sales Hits that failed to Chart Officially
Hi, does anyone have a list of the singles that have made the Top 100 Singles Sales Chart but failed to crack the official Top 100 since 2014? A big ask, I know, but I would be quite interested in seeing a full list.

Joseph's Hit 300 | Year-End 2018 **FULL LIST PG 15**
James Bay, Christina Aguilera and Mariah Carey are the only albums I've listened to fully out of those so far. A very mixed bunch. I mostly enjoyed Mariah's and Christina's but James's was a bit of let down (and I'm one of the 3 people who actually liked Wild Love!)

How long have you been following the charts
14th December 2003 was my first chart show. That was the week Rachel Stevens crashed out at #26 with Funky Dory, Madonna missed the Top 10 with Love Profusion and Ozzy & Kelly Osborne reached number one with Changes.

Ava Max - Sweet But Psycho
Really surprised this has already managed to climb into the Top 20, thought it'd take until January
