HATECHART 2017 - VOTING
18 Ed Sheeran - Shape Of You (I define worst as being the song that makes me want to punch a wall the most. There were ‘worse’ songs this year in an objective sense, but in terms of my personal enjoyment, this gave me the least) 15 Kendrick Lamar - HUMBLE. (A mess, an absolute assault on the ears and done with the smug holier than thou attitude that has really turned me off Kendrick as an artist in the last few yeasr) 13 Sam Smith - Too Good At Goodbyes (I expected nothing less than tired, predictable drivel from Smith’s return. I’m not even happy to be right.) 12 KYLE feat. Lil Yachty – iSpy (It’s essentially a very cruel, misogynistic hip-hop version of What Makes You Beautiful) 11 Katy Perry feat. Nicki Minaj - Swish Swish (Perry used to be able to put her tongue firmly in her cheek without utterly embarassing herself and everyone involved. This is just kind of sad.) 10 Taylor Swift - Look What You Made Me Do (A song writer of Taylor’s calibre should’ve made something really special out of her theme and concept for this era, which I maintain is a good one, if slightly predictable. This is just kind of lazy which would be forgiveabe if it didn’t just sound so bloody awful. Ready For It is at least awful in a funny way.) 09 Jake Paul feat. Team 10 - It's Everyday Bro (This is everything that out of touch adults who think YouTube and its community is evil picture at night) 08 Drake - Blem (Never has an artist played to such extremes between awful and amazing) 07 Cardi B - Bodak Yellow (It was kind of fun for about a week. Her delivery is awful) 06 Sam Hunt - Body Like a Back Road (Actually really like the beat, but I spent the summer in the US and OH MY GOD was I absolutely sick of hearing this by the time I left. That he sang this to his wife at an awards show and she looked mortified speaks volumes) 05 Chris & Kem - Little Bit Leave It (Lower here because of how low my expectations were, as opposed to say Sheeran and Swift who are actual artists with talent, but it really is bloody awful. And I hate Love Island.) 04 Machine Gun Kelly feat Camila Cabello - Bad Things (Mostly I hate it just because it's reminding me of the fact I'm almost 25 and no longer really part of the youth zeitgeist. All I can think of when I listen to this song is how dumb these kids are....then I found out MGK is two years older than me. Eurgh.) 03 Maroon 5 feat Sza - What Lovers Do (It's nice to have tangible proof that Maroon 5 are now nothing more than the musical equivalent of dried paste I guess) 02 Ed Sheeran - How Would You Feel (Standard boring Sheeran filler. But that's enough to get it on here) 01 Liam Payne feat Quavo - Strip That Down (A good beat almost redeems it but I can't really get over how much Payne makes me cringe nowadays. He would really need the charisma of Justin Timberlake to pull this off and he just doesn't have it) To be honest, bar Bad and Boujee, I don't actually mind the rest of the songs here

I hope Taylor smashes with Call It What You Want, the first song from this project I've had any time for.

Been reading up on CNCO and apparently one of the band members was born in January 2001, which unless I'm mistaken makes him the first person born in the 21st Century to get a top ten hit. Willow Smith was born on 31st October 2000 but that's actually still the 20th century, the whole world just celebrated a year early for some reason.

Well, considering he's one of the UK's best selling male solo artists of all time, has like 4 albums with sales of over 2 million copies, has consistently sold out massive concerts for two decades now and is the most awarded artist of all time at the BRIT awards I'd say he's more than just a "showbiz chancer".

Well, aren't you a delight? I'm pretty sure all of them did it because they genuinely care about the situation and wanted to help. Of course the music was going to benefit, it was watched by ten million people, but I really don't think that will have been at the forefront of any of their minds. A very needlessly cynical view of a beautiful, unifying thing you've taken there. Oh and people often listen to songs because they like how they sound, and your opinion isn't an absolute.

I guess the current chart show format will be beneficial unless it goes top ten. They can just skip over if it's at #32 or whatever. Not like that Wizard Of Oz situation.

You know, with the exception of the Westlife collaboration and the rather by numbers Endless Love cover, I can't think of a single Mariah Carey release I haven't liked. No exaggeration.

Top 100 Best Selling Female Acts 1980-2013
Fight For This Love, Parachute, Promise This, Call My Name, Under The Sun and Crazy Stupid Love are all darn fine pop records. Cheryl's got her limitations as a singer, yes, but she's a hell of a performer and with such consistent output (though never reaching Girls Aloud's heights in my view) it's no surprise she turned into such a successful solo act.

Top 100 Best Selling Female Acts 1980-2013
Pixie Lott and Kate Bush are two I didn't guess when I tried to come up with the 44 remaining acts last weekend. Pixie was a genuine oversight, but Kate's sporadic chart appearances and lower peaks made me think she wouldn't have even made the Top 100. I knew Nicole would be in, though not this high.
