  1. Tbf it is a little bit sad to take really good singers and do this kind of chipmunk to them. But hey $$$ It does make Ella’s position a bit confusing though, what do you expect to hear if you go to one of her gigs? Ballads, pop, soul, gospel, dance, chipmunk??
  2. Got to admit this is slightly growing on me, don’t tell anyone …
  3. I think Joel Corry is the only one left on the Ella collab bingo card now. It’s coming just wait…. Quite like this (even though he’s a Villa fan).
  4. I guess he wanted to try Ella but added Becky for more sales appeal. It’s pretty dreadful but I can always get something from listening to Ella’s voice (I like Becky as well but she is kinda non descript on this)… I guess it’ll be a minor hit.
  5. Does sound interesting. How they blend those voices. Ella and Becky seem to be friends. Insta friends at least ….
  6. I think they are scared of her going with a classic piano ballad. But it is by far the best song on the album so they should run with it. I think ugly is one of the weakest songs.
  7. Absolutely. A fantastic ballad.
  8. No. Not yet.
  9. Usually reliable ‘Ella sources’ say it’s Ella. Then again with those studio effects it could be me….
  10. Ella has a new (voice effect) single out with Nathan Dawe soon… Sounds good tbf…
  11. Charted at #8 so at least she made her top 10. Pleased for her. Hope she can focus down and produce a few top quality songs for the next one…
  12. So Ella made #8 on albums. Not too bad. Especially as for me it really isn’t that good.

So I guess #6 is Ed Sheeran. Just a bit odd having to deduce that. But hey whatever floats your boat.

    Except Monday didn’t do that…

Is #6 on albums missing -_-

Well she’s certainly between 6 and 9 given those latest figures…
  17. Ella and Becky Hill have gone down the ‘feat dance route’ to earn a living. Maybe Becky will have more freedom now but these are working artist who need to earn a crust.
  18. In the end, Ella is well liked and respected for her voice, her only ‘image’ is herself as a down to earth girl next door northerner. She, in many ways, is ‘older than her years’. I doubt that ‘image’ (although laudable) is particularly highly appealing to the mass music market. Her biggest problem though is lack of clarity on her musical style. She has recorded pretty much everything besides rock and people just don’t know what she stands for musically or what to expect on an album. Sure many really like her voice, but I’m not sure that is enough on its own to generate a wider fan base or sales. She needs a much more focussed approach, probably working only with a small production and writing team. She needs song quality not quantity [obviously not an easy task!] Can she achieve that at this point in her career whilst also earning a decent living as a jobbing artist?

I think Ella’s team missed a trick in not pushing other formats, there is no vinyl release at all, and they haven’t added any other signing events to those already planned. She’s just put a promo on her insta and seems really happy with the #7. I guess putting it in context a couple of years ago she was without a contract only doing some side work with Rudimental…. I really hope she gets top 10.

It would be: “She sold 46,000 albums last time and now this!! She’ll be working on the Toby Carvery sliced beef and gammon counter before Xmas”

Ive no idea on the typical balance of album sales these days. But Ella has been top 3 iTunes for 4 days, top 10 Amazon and top 12 AM. She has also done a few record shop physical signings and has a largish sales oriented gig tomorrow night. I’d be very surprised if she doesn’t make top 10…
  22. This album has 13 producers on it! She has moved from MOR pop, RnB, Soul in Chapter One to MOR pop, dance, country on this album, with some gospel round the edges! The country oriented stuff was a surprise but I kinda like it. I’m not sure where she’s heading but I think the scattergun approach is a problem. I personally think Chapter One was a better fit, but see what happens. Has this album helped solidify her career?

Ella now #1 on iTunes, holding up well and a sizeable gig on Tuesday to boost sales. Should make a top 5(?)…
