Yep Mikey, And remember when Bruno and Mark presented they actually played the Top 40 and didn't need all the gab and competition hoo ha! I really liked it when Tommy Vance (RIP) was the presenter in 1983! :)

Yep, Elvis sold approximately 9000 every week and almost all sales were physical. Hardly any were downloaded!

Hi Simon, Of course there are more important things to get annoyed over such as war, poverty, crime etc.... but this site is relevant to the chart and it would be better if Radio 1 could hire presenters who know what they're talking about!
  7. As far as I'm concerned as long as people are purchasing a song it has to be registered in the Top 75. It's daft to say "Oh it's been in the chart too long so we better get rid of it"
  8. I can never resist "She's Not You", the first Elvis song I really loved!
  9. If we had the old chart rules Chasing Cars would have only made 17 weeks before becoming chart inelligable. Thank goodness for the new rules and bless all the Downloaders!

I love listening to the chart every week as I have done since 1981. I'm probably nit picking but Fearne and Reggie are doing my head in with silly chart inaccuracies. Last week Fearne "informed" us of Rihanna's "11" weeks at No. 1 and that Kate Nash reached No."3" with Foundations. A few weeks ago she also said that all of the Elvis Presley re-issues were on download only. (Almost all of his sales were physical) Last night Reggie enlightened us of the "fact" that Kate Nash reached No.1 with Foundations. I wonder why Radio 1 choose presenters who know (or care) little about the chart! Rant over!!!
  11. Mmm, On the basis of that it looks good for Mark and Sarah. I guess it'll boil down to who's hanging around at No.1 the previous week!!
  12. Mmmm, "I Just Can't Help Believing" ;)
  13. Wow, I've adored Sarah Cracknell's work for years. :yahoo: St Etienne were fantastic and I think I was the only one who bought her solo track "Anymore" back in 1996...(Casstette single...oops!). I think this can get to No.1 depending on the competition that week.
  14. I'm gonna guess Top 10 but hope it goes higher. I really like The Feeling! :D
  15. Hi Carole, I've been getting all Christmasy. Jackie's (Youtube person) compilation of "If Every Day Was Like Christmas" is fab! ;)
  16. 1 Slade "Merry Christmas Everybody" 2 Kate Bush "December Will Be Magic Again" 3 Mariah Carey "All I Want For christmas Is You" 4 Elton John "Step Into Christmas" (How could you leave this song out??) 5 Wizzard "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day 6 Pogues/Kirsty "Fairytale Of New York" 7 John/Yoko "Happy Christmas (War Is Over)" 8 Jona Lewie "Stop The Cavalry" 9 Wham "Last Christmas" 10Paul McCartney "Wonderful Christmas Time" 11 (If Elton doesn't count....Laurel And Hardy "The Trail Of The Lonsome Pine"...Oops, that's not on the list!) 12 Dana "It's Gonna Be A Cold Cold Christmas"
  17. It sure is a great way to end the year! It's great that Elvis is in the record books again!!!
  18. Hi Carole, How great was that chart run over the last 4 months!! :yahoo: You can also add "My Baby Left Me" which was released as an "HMV only" limited edition (although not part of the boxed set). It was released, I think, somewhere between "Suspicious Minds" and "Blue Suede Shoes". I was lucky to get my copy at the time! It's chart run was: 19-67 So we DID actually have 18 consecutive Top 20's!!!
  19. It's number 85 this week. If it wasn't for the Crimbo re-entries it would be No 73!! -_-
  20. "Burning Love" looking good for another high entry for Elvis on Sunday. I'm judging this on the Friday chart updates. By Friday, Elvis has usually slipped to provisional Top 15 and for a couple of releases this has meant an official peak just outside the Top 15. Last week, "An American Trilogy" was still provisional Top 10 on Friday and ended up finishing an amazing 12!! "Burning Love" is also still sitting provisional Top 10 on the Friday update!! Fingers and toes crossed!!!
  21. Hi Jack, I didn't know this song so checked it out on Youtube..It's really good fun and I'm sure it could have been a big hit! :cheer:
  22. How great would that have been!!! :yahoo:
  23. A great song! Another one was All About Eve's " December"
  24. I think Jona Lewie's "Stop The Cavary" was stuck at No.3 for 5 weeks at the end of 1980. John Lennon was dominating the top of the chart for obvious reasons! :( St. Winifrids also had a hand at keeping Jona at 3!!! :puke2:
  25. Wow, "An American Trilogy" went in at No.12! All set for an easy Top 20 for "Burning Love" next week! :cheer:
