Elvis Remixes
Really enjoyed the mixes Carole...Ta for that. Wow Big Hunk... made No.12! Elvis sold around the same this week (8894) as last week so it seems his position depends on the sales of the songs around 16-11. I you remember about 3 weeks ago he only missed No.11 by around 300 copies. Sales are so close at these positions every week. Looking forward to the next few weeks. If I Can Dream's out next week!!!! :cheer: Catcha later Me :)

18 Singles And A Singles Box Set
Hi Carole, I found a great mix of "Clean Up Your Own Backyard" on Youtube. Not sure how to put it on the site but if you do a youtube search: elvis - clean up your own backyard (remix) It's great, Elvis looks fantastic! How can anyone be so cool!! :o

When did you first become a fan of The Beatles?
I was a late starter in music and was 11 years old when a song called (Just Like) Starting Over entered the charts. I had this small hand held radio and used to listen to Radio Luxembourg ('Cos they played chart countdowns at least twice a week in those days) in bed late at night just to to hear this great song. I didn't realise who the artist was until the day in December that year! It also introduced me to all the great bands of the era...The Police, Blondie, Abba, The Beat, The Jam....Need I go on? I instantly needed to know about John and The Beatles and have been a fan ever since. Just like "thisispop", John's "Imagine" was the first single I personally bought in January 1981...Never looked back since!! :)

US Chart Information - Singles & Albums
Hope it can still have a chance of reaching No.1 both in the US and here in the UK. I think it's a great track. I personally hate the negative press Britney's getting from all corners just now. She needs support in her private and professional life not constant criticism! Rant over!!!

Thanx for the info Carole, Just watched, yet again, the "Aloha" performance and Elvis seems to love performing the track. Don't quote me but I think I read somewhere that "Burning Love" is looked upon as a 1970's version of "A Big Hunk 'O Love". I DO see what they were getting at but I'm biased and love both tracks equally!! :yahoo: Gonna have to watch "Burning Love" again now! And I swore I would spend time working today and not getting lost in fab music and nostalgia!!

Yep Carole, "A Big Hunk O' Love", seems to have had a better start than recent releases but, on recent updates today, it's slipped to the lower end of the Top 10 so, as you say, a Top 15 might be the best we can get this week! ;) PS It's one of my fave releases of 2007 so far! A great uplifting track! :cheer:

18 Singles And A Singles Box Set
Yep, when you think about it, how long would it take for any artist or band to have 18 Top 20 hits? Perhaps 4 or 5 years?? Elvis could pull it off in 18 weeks, as he did in 2005!!

UK Top 40 on TV
It's great to have the music channels playing the top 40. Fond memories of Hitlist UK!! No Elvis!!! Not fair! :o

Snow Patrol: Chasing Cars - The Longetivity Survey
It was a bit of a scare last week when it dropped to 75 but I don't think it'll make 100 weeks. I still have a bit of a problem that the 6 weeks, when deleted at the end of 2006, don't count towards it's chart run!!

Was Elvis at No.1 on the day you were born?
I think Marvin Gaye was No.1 the week I was born with "I Heard It throughThe Grapevine" in March 1969. A great song but not as good as the song at No.11..Elvis "If I Can Dream" :naughty:

Hi Carole, Disappointed that King Creole only made 15 this week. So far we've had peak positions of: 11, 13, 14, 14, 14, 14, 15, 15... with sales averaging around 9000 copies. Let's hope we can keep hitting the Top 20 until December! :cheer:

It might be because only climbs within the Top 75 are recognised. Just an educated guess! Mikey may know.

Elvis Touring in 1977
I know it's probably been discussed before but, to this day, I feel so frustrated that Elvis even toured in 1977 (also '75, and '76). He was in such poor health I alway wonder why his large entourage didn't step in and say enough is enough. I think if Elvis had taken a break of 18 months to 2 years at this time he would still be alive today. He certainly couldn't have been touring for any financial reasons. All I can think is that he believed that touring and performing was what he was meant to do to and he didn't seem to see any alternative. I always find it heartbreaking watching footage of Elvis from the period 1976-1977 but vocally his performances are astonishing especially tracks such as "Unchained Melody" and "How Great Thou Art" Sorry for going off on one!!

18 Singles And A Singles Box Set
Hi Carole, "Don't" is still being listed as provisional Top 10 for Sunday but by Saturday most Elvis fans will have bought the single so it'll probably miss the 10 again! On Tuesday he was sitting at No.3 after 1 days sales which suggests all the fans buy on the first few days and taper off as the week goes on. Looking forward to the release of "If I Can Dream" in October. I've loved this song for years. Very poignant lyrics for the time it was written in 1968. Many peeps could have sung it but Elvis' performance and vocals on the track make it so special. Every line feels like it's sung from the heart with passion and truth in a way many artists might have failed. <_<
