Steve "Silk" Hurley's "Jack Your Body" might never have officially reached number 1. According to Wikipedia most of it's sales were from the 12 inch. The total running time of the 12 inch exceeded 25 minutes and technically should have been classifed as an album. The chart folk hadn't noticed this until the track was already number 1!!!

Should OCC find another Radio Station
I don't have a problem with the chart being on Radio 1 but the format should be changed and a better presenter is a must! Reggie is an entertaining presenter and has his place and audience but I don't think it's for the Top 40. He just doesn't take it very seriously and, when listening to him, he doesn't really seem to care. Often he doesn't even confirm if a track's climbed or dropped. I prefer the format where earlier presenters eg. Tommy Vance, Bruno Brookes or Mark Goodier (Showing my age again) would play the Top 40, giving concise chart details and information about the artist and songs without having to resort to the likes of the cringy chart numbers game or the general pratting around! Nothing worse than when you look at the clock and realise it's around 8 minutes since the last track was played.

Really difficult to cut this down to a Top 10. December 1980 (I was only 11 years old) was when I first started writing down the chart each week and recording the Top 40 on a Sunday night! +15 John Lennon “(Just Like) Starting Over”<<<John's comeback single charted just a few weeks before his murder hence the bizarre chart run: 30-20-13-8-10-21-1-2-2-5-5-15-22 +12 Olivia Newton-John and Electric Light Orchestra “Xanadu” +10 David Bowie “Ashes to Ashes” +08 The Jam “Going Underground/Dreams of Children” +06 ABBA “Super Trouper” +05 Blondie “The Tide Is High” +04 ABBA “The Winner Takes It All" +03 Blondie “Atomic” +02 Dexy’s Midnight Runners “Geno” +01 Barbra Streisand “Woman In Love” -02 St. Winifred’s School Choir “There’s No One Quite Like Grandma”<<<Kept John Lennon from the Christmas No.1!!! Nuff said! :puke:

Pleased with the results overall....some fantastic songs from a great era! Cheers for the time you put in Daniel! :)

Whats your favorite decade for music?
Well I'm one of the oldies! I first got into the charts at the end of 1980. I was 11 years old. Every Sunday I wrote down and recorded the Top 40! I carried this on until the mid 90's. I love the 80's but the period up until '95, '96 still had high quality. My musical taste changed from the 80's New Romantics with acts like Duran Duran, Human League and Spandau Ballet to the Dance/House/Rave era of the late 80's into the early 90's. Then I discovered Indie!! Early Indie bands such as Lush, Curve, Ride and The Charlatans took me to a different place! Fell in love with bands such as Oasis, Echobelly, Sleeper, Salad and Blur. I still check Buzzjack for every chart update and listen to the Top 40 every Sunday and there's loads of great stuff charting but unfortunately, as a 42 year old, Reggie doesn't quite cut it with me! His inaccuracies, dreadful chart "games" and interviews with his mates every week are aimed at 8 - 14 year olds! I mean what the heck's that chart numbers game?? I've heard him say it's his highlight of the show. I think that says it all! <_< Oh, and if he does that thing when it comes to J-Lo and plays people singing Lambada ending with the line...."official chart" I'm seriously gonna punch a wall!!!! Hey, as long as Buzzjackers (even old ones) can have a wee rant it can't be all bad! :)
