  1. The drop was to be expected. The song isn't doing so bad on iTunes, but the streaming and lack of promotion are killing it.
  2. A bit of an overreaction from Howard. When there was the whole tax scandal and the media were trashing only Gary, he didn't hurry up to say "it's actually TT's scandal". I can understand that it's unpleasant when the press doesn't report facts objectively, but what if Tim Firth had reacted the same way, when everyone was referring to The Girls as Gary's musical? It's a bit unprofessional and it gives the impression he has something against Gary.
  3. I am a hardcore GB fan, but I'm almost jealous of how well everything is going for The Girls and I wish TT's new album got the same reception. You know it's not good when a musical gets more promotion than a new album. I hope Wonderland delivers, for me at least, just the way The Girls and FN did.
  4. There is seemingly an interview with Chris Evans on March, 31. That's another thing I don't understand - I'd have thought they would throw in all the big guns to promote the album before the release or during the release week, when most of the sales happen.
  5. Agree with MOTTFAN. But even admitting that BBC didn't allow them to perform Giants, there's still no excuse for the lack of promotion through other vehicles.
  6. Yup, whatever the reason, Giants doesn't seem to be getting any promo soon. Gary did say in an interview that he was anxious to get the new music out there and he couldn't wait anymore - maybe that's what happened - they hurried up with the single instead of waiting for March and that's why they didn't have any promo lined up. I'm still hoping that this was just a buzz single and they'll follow up with a 2nd one, right before the album release. Fearne Cotton was gushing about Hope - maybe they'll release that one as the leading single for the album.
  7. You welcome :) The acapella versions are incredible. Freeze sounds amazing.
  8. It's still working for me. Install Hola and set it for another country. It's working for the USA for me.
  9. I think I fell in love with the acapella version of Giants :) Gary's voice is soooooo clear and the harmonies are so beautiful, almost choir-like. Whoever did this is a genius: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIm8095LvmQ
  10. Looking at the sales climat right now, I'd say III did very well - it didn't do great by Take That's previous standards, but, when compared to most artists, it did amazingly well.
  11. Oh please, Elisabeth! Can't you just stick with Robbie's page for his praising?! Nobody is bothering you there. What promo exactly has Giants had, so that people had the opportunity to NOT GET the song? I'm more than willing to concede your point if Take That have an important promotion slot and the single does absolutely nothing. Until then, it's all supposition on your part and facts on ours. When I look at the main page on this forum, almost everyone who's heard the song likes it. Robbie may have shifted a few copies in other countries, but then again, he just came off a big international tour and heavy, heavy, heavy promotion. We're simply comparing what's comparable at this point: the situation in UK, period. And nobody was doing it to put down Robbie. We were just trying to emphasize the fact that TT have done decently with 0 promotion and bad streaming. As for LML beating Giants on iTunes, that's only due to PROMOTION - have you magically forgot a little show called THE BRIT AWARDS this week? I'd say that, for such an important slot, LML is actually doing pretty bad on iTunes. LML #33, after the Brits, Giants #37 after...NOTHING.
  12. It's pretty impressive that, in terms of sales, TT are not that far off from Ed Sheeran. Ed is staying so high mainly due to streaming. Take That were no 5 in the sales charts - that says a lot about how streaming is screwing them over. Although, if enough fans bought the single, streaming wouldn't have been important after all.
  13. Gary himself announced that the album would be released on the 24th of March...possibly because of Ed's release. I know that sales aren't great this time of the year, but if they could sell in 2 days with no promo more than others do in Q4, why can't it be the same with the album?
  14. The article and the headlines today are completely misleading. The guys were just joking around during a radio interview about the 25th anniversary and how they could end up celebrating the 30th anniversary if they were to wait for Jason....
  15. So far, given the fact that the single isn't a total disaster and has achieved, with no promotion, way better sales than Party Like A Russian, I'm hoping that the album too will have better opening figures than Robbie's. It remains to be seen whether they choose to promote the album or not.
  16. The only reason I can think of for this lack of promotion is that they're saving it for the album release. In the past, the album was released immediately after the lead single, which helped organize the promotion. Although, this could have been the perfect opportunity for them to release the 2nd single before the album and it wouldn't have impeded the Giants promotion.
  17. BBC R2 only gave it 6 plays this week - no wonder almost nobody knows about the song. Heart gave it the most spins, but there's no other major station playing it :( It would have been great if it had been playlisted by Capital. http://comparemyradio.com/tracks/Take_That/Giants
  18. It's getting more and more frustrating. Knowing that they're #4 in the midweeks doesn't help at all, cause it just emphasizes what a missed opportunity this is. Giants is heads and shoulders above Ed's new song and it deserved a proper promotion.
  19. Surprisingly, it's not streaming holding them down this time. Somebody on the main forum posted that Giants was #59 on Spotify yesterday, which has never happened before. I don't think the difference promotion could make is very small. With SOME promotion, they could easily go top 10, if not top 5. BUt this discussion makes no sense now anymore, considering they don't seem willing to promote at all. There was an interview on the radio yesterday where Gary said they don't care about charts anymore. Personally, I don't believe him, after seeing how much effort he puts into promoting The Girls and LIS- when he's doing a project, he's very passionate about it and he usually wants it to be successful. Something else must be happening. Maybe it has something to do with Howard's baby being about to be born, but in this case, why not postpone the release?!! I wish TT would be as good at promoting their albums as Gary is at promoting all his other projects. I agree with you, Gooddelta. Loving or Leaving isn't very original - it could have easily fitted on III, but it's a very beautiful song. It would have never worked as a single, but I'm fonder of it than of Giants.
  20. The SISYL era was truly the best one, in terms of everything :)
  21. Cry was no 5 on iTunes for a long time, whereas Giants is free falling. I desperately want you all to be right about Giants charting higher than Cry, though.
  22. Maybe it's just me, but, for a show about TT's music, I sure didn't hear many TT songs. I heard more TT songs in the background of the X Factor than on this show. I'm pretty sure the press didn't infer out of the blue that they'd be performing Giants on the show. The question is: what happened that they had to backtrack at the last minute? Maybe they do want to be careful with not being over-exposed by the BBC, but then they should explore other venues of promotion. This has never happened before, that the lead single gets absolutely NO promotion at all.
  23. Then why let it slip to the press that they'd be performing Giants tonight? Lots of fans were left disappointed. The Shine performance looked like it had been put together at the last minute and Mark sounded not good at all. I found the whole performance a bit pointless, tbh. If they can't perform TT songs on a show about a TT musical, then where can they? Most of the haters have turned off anyway, so the backlash wouldn't have been bigger than normally, imo.
  24. Before tonight, I'd have said top 10, but now, with 0 promotion, probably top 75.
