New Album 'III', lead single 'These Days'
Now that Amazon has withdrawn all dvd-s, the sales will really take a tumble :( I agree with you, dylandog. I really love TT and I'll support them for as long as they make good music, but I want them to get recognition as well. I hate seeing comments like "they are has beens", "they should retire" and so on. The label should really put more effort into the promotion, because TT are one of their biggest acts, not to mention their most profitable probably - I don't know that many acts that pay for their own tours like TT are. The labels are the ones investing in tours and getting their profits afterwards, but, since their return, TT have been paying for the staging of all their tours, which is a lot of money. Given all that, Universal should get behind the boys more and, at least, get the dvd-s right and some important tv slots and advertising. I would love to see a performance of Will You Be There For Me on the X Factor. At least then I'd know that both the label and the boys are making an effort into turning this era into a success. I don't like Jason very much at the moment, but I wouldn't be opposed to his return to TT as much as I would be to Robbie's - although I can imagine Robbie returning more than I can Jason. He took what he needed from his time with the band and that's it, he's moved on.

New Album 'III', lead single 'These Days'
This is getting very depressing :( I may be selfish, but I'd rather TT kept selling low than see Robbie or Jay return. If it's one thing I dislike in life is disloyalty. I want to see what TT as a trio have still to offer. At the end of the day, it's their music I'm listening to, not their sales. I, for one, couldn't put up with another album of Robbie leads; if I wanted that, I'd be buying his records. It's obvious that the news about the dvd being damaged has spread quite fast and fans are weary of buying it till it's fixed. Beside, there's been no advertising of the dvd being out, as there usually is, so most fans probably aren't even aware. I doubt there are many fans who went to see their tour who wouldn't want the dvd. Universal really has to step up their game and get the boys more promo slots - tv slots, not radio.

6 in the midweeks is encouraging, but the sales are atrocious. They should promote as much as possible to capitalize on the Christmas sales.

8 Brit Awards, 6 Ivors, 45 million copies sold - it's definitely TT :) If we want to laugh instead of crying, the tax scandal took care of their reputation. A fur coat won't do much more damage :P I'd have loved a performance of WYBTFM - I can even picture the dancing on that song, it would have been mesmerizing. But, what's done is done and, at least, we know that Hey Boy is not their new direction, but just one isolate episode. To be fair, the general public has better things to do than post on twitter stupid comments. Those posts belong to the haters and they would have posted them no matter what. Hey Boy is now 41 on iTunes, which means some of the audience must have got the humour and enjoyed the performance as such.

I think the boys knew they'd get a lot of heat from those who don't follow them constantly, when they decided to go for the 70s outfits and for that dance routine. We should be glad they stood away from jello this time :P I'd love it if those rumours were true, dylandog. I don't want them to go away on a long hiatus again until the next album. I've watched their performance a few times and I still can't make up my mind. When I look at Gary, I can swear it's live, when I look at Mark, I can swear they're miming. When I hear Mark's voice on the 2nd verse, again I could swear it's live. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iD7nBnwtwzk There was a snippet posted yesterday by someone who was in the audience - in that video, you could clearly hear it was live, I almost couldn't hear the music. I doubt they'd have rehearsed it live and done sound checks if they intended to mime. The performance seems to have had an effect on iTunes: the album jumped from 76 to 45 in the past hour, let's hope it keeps climbing.

Oh, it was camp alright :) But I'd rather it was silly than serious. Can you imagine a serious performance with such lyrics? :) I see quite a few persons accusing them of lip synching, but I couldn't tell. As you pointed out, they were shot from the distance and always mingled with the dancers and it was hard to tell. What made me think it was live was the 2nd verse - usually, you'd only hear Gary's voice, but, this time, Mark was doing some harmonies and something didn't sound quite right. And I think Gary even got some lyrics wrong, but I can't be sure. Even if they had been miming, at this point, I find it ridiculous for some people to throw it in their faces. TT have proven time and time again they are a great live act and such isolate episodes have no reflection on their singing capabilities.

God, I hate that song, but that was a brilliant performance on Strictly. Glad to see they went for the funny, energetic approach.

As far as I know, Adele sold 300.000 copies on Friday, which means she'll easily outsell Progress. But, then again, with the hype that surrounds her, I wouldn't be surprised. Although I'm not a fan, I kinda feel sorry for her, because the hype that ensures her success now will eventually lead to her downfall. Nobody can live up to such high expectations forever. Hello is a good - not great, but good - STUDIO song. Adele's 1st live performance of the song outlined her voice's weakness when it comes to the upper register - she was literally shouting to reach those notes. I'm one of the few that find When We Were Young beyond boring. I did like A Million Years Ago; I felt it was quite personal and heartfelt, good melody, good lyrics, I prefer it to Hello. I don't know how objective I am, but, for me, III has better songs than the few I've heard from 25. Unfortunately, in this industry, sometimes the name/brand sells more than the quality. My DVD will probably arrive just in time for Christmas, although it was dispatched on Wednesday. I keep my fingers crossed it's not faulty, cause returning it would be a full headache.

Does anyone know the midweeks yet?

Without exaggerating, I think I've listened to WYBTFM at least 20 times per day since Friday, that's how much I love it. I only did that with Dying Inside and Without You (Harry Nilsson's version, not Mariah's). I like Carry Me Home too, but I only listened to it a couple of times - I agree, it's not single material. I have the same aversion towards Hey Boy as you do, dylandog :) I think we're gonna get banned if we keep repeating it :) Something must be in the air: first I agreed with Kath and now with elisabeth :)

They could make WYBTFM non-eligible to chart and, that way, they'd protect it from criticism. Having it released as a single would mean exposure for the song: a video, airplay, maybe a few live performances. This is so tricky: on the one hand, I don't want to see it flop either, because it's a stunning, stunning song, on the other hand, I don't want to see it remain anonymous, known only by a hand of hardcore fans - that's as bad, if not worse, as it flopping.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't care about sales anymore - how I wish TT could sell 300k in 1 day like Adele!! -, but, right now, I'm so happy they've finally produced a song that lives up to the TT standards that the sales and the charts come second place. Going by the album's position on Amazon and iTunes, I think they'll be lucky if they make top 20. Does any of you think there's a chance the boys would do a live set on Radio 2, so that we get to hear the new tracks live? I'd die if I heard an acoustic version of WYBTFM - a guitar and Gary's voice, that's all I ask.

Tbh, I didn't have the patience to listen to Mark's song in full, although I had liked the snippet. I'm simply in love with WYBTHFM and, if we lived in a fair world, it would be a bigger hit than Adele's Hello, imo. I know some of you might not agree, but, for me, WYBTFM is up there with RTW and Patience - lyrically, it's even better.

Will You Be There For Me is STUNNING, there's no other word for it. If they performed it on Strictly, they'd have no problem reaching double platinum.

I love the 3 new songs, especially Will You Be There. I liked better the demo of Carry Me Home, but I still enjoy what I hear. Any of these 3 new songs would have been a better single than Hey Boy, imo. WYBT would have sounded so lovely on SCD, with a pair dancing on it.

Yes, great vocals - but that is a common occurrence with Gary :)

So far, the video doesn't have many views and the comments are all hatred spewn at Michelle Obama. We live in a strange world. The performance at the WH wasn't one of the best, in my opinion, but charming enough that, if people are watching it, might persuade them to go see the musical. I saw the video of Gary singing Yorkshire last night. I almost laughed at how nervous, uncomfortable and small he looked on that stage. But then again you all know, all those things make him very endearing to me :P

They're releasing on Friday. I'm hopeful they'll go top 5. They've been in top 40-60 on Amazon for the past month, so that should help a bit, plus they have the SCD performance on Sunday.

TT are doing Hyde Park next summer. Is that a big event in UK? I'm glad you liked Yorkshire, Kath. I'm gonna have to familiarize myself with ELO, since I know almost nothing about them - nobody here does, if I'm honest (well, from Kath's post, I realized I wasn't even born when they were already touring, so people here might have known them back then). Reading other people's comments and posts, I've inferred that they are very respected artists and very successful in UK and TT have quoted them several times as an influence, so I'll have to broaden my musical knowledge.

I absolutely loved Yorkshire, dylandog :) And Gary's voice sounded fabulous. After listening for 2 hours to all that Radio 2 music, I was afraid I'd lack patience and I wouldn't like the song, but it got me hooked instantly. Sadly, I'm loving more Gary's musicals than TT's music at the moment :( For the next album, maybe the boys could split the work in 2 halves: one half for songs in the vein of FN, BW, SISYL and one half for their more experimental music. That way they could keep both the fans satisfied and challenge themselves. For those who haven't heard the song yet, here's the link: http://picosong.com/6Ufv/

New Album 'III', lead single 'These Days'
After hearing Yorkshire today, I'm missing even more Gary's songwriting talent on the TT singles lately. I realize that is a musical and the song is adequate, but it strikes me that the same person can consent to the lyrics of Hey Boy and, at the same time, create something so beautiful lyrically as Yorkshire.

You're probably right. Even if the boys are not directly responsible, they should have demanded answers for the handling of the singles campaigns; therefore, they share the blame as much as the label or their management.
-
New Album 'III', lead single 'These Days'
I wonder who shares the blame for this disastrous promo, the boys or the label? If they want the album to do well, they have to push all the promo this month, considering next month Howard will be having his baby and I imagine any TT activity will cease for a while.

Wow, the video has had quite an impact. 53 on iTunes currently.
