Unfortunately, streaming will always be an issue for TT from now on. The majority of their audience are no longer teens or young adults; elderly people are not very familiar with technology or how the charts work, unfortunately. The true test is the album sales, that should give us a hint of TT's popularity. I so want III to make it to double platinum; if need be, I'll make a transplant of toes and fingers to have more to cross :P

Me too :) They're amongst my favorites, alongside with 6 in the Morning Fool. I'm not really a fan of We All Fall Down, but that might be because I have trouble understanding the lyrics and because Mark's voice is not my cup of tea.

I must be the only one who adored I'd Wait for Life. That's one single I regret not making the top 10.

From what I remember, it was a bit mid-tempo, but it didn't have an electronic sound at all - that's exactly what made me like it instantly. Gary's voice was sooo clear, it almost sounded acoustic. Of course, there's no way of knowing how the final version sounds like, but I hope they haven't altered it much. To this day, I regret not downloading that snippet when that studio guy posted it :(

Based on sales alone, TT would have grabbed another top 40 :( Streaming is really damaging them. It's strange that Hey Boy doesn't appear on the physical chart. Is it possible that those sales weren't added last week? If TT manage to get a slot on Strictly or XF, I so hope they won't be performing Hey Boy. Choose anything else - HTH, Carry Me Home, Into the Wild or anything else, just not Hey Boy!!!

Can't believe I'm saying this, but, for once, I agree with you :D (aside from the part in bold). Gary appears to be credited (wikipedia says "by MO HD and TT - I assume Gary comes with the "TT" part, but it is weird that these 3 new songs are not all simply by TT. We have to wait for the cd to see the actual credits).

Tbh, after having heard Hello in full, I only like the verses. I find Adele extremely shouty on the chorus and the chorus lacks something for me. She also benefits, atm, from over-hype. It remains to be seen if, in 25 years time, she'll enjoy the same success. I admire TT for releasing the same day as Adele. Even if they won't get to no 1, they're not running away from tough competition like most artists do. Success or no success, I'll support TT as long as the music is good. I have hopes that with the next album they'll deliver and Hey Boy is just an one-off. Mark and Howard definitely have to take the lead from Gary when it comes to sound. There's a reason SISYL sold and TAODN didn't.

We could compare how many times Perfect has been played on the radio to Hey Boy's airtime. Hey Boy has, at best, been played 3 times/day by Capital, whereas Perfect has been played at least 8-9 times/day. Adele is rumoured to release her album on the same day as TT release the new edition of III :( Another no 1 that eludes them :(

I don't think you can buy the dvd separately. Anyway, I imagine it would be at the same price as it is now with the audio cd. Hey Boy has been A-listed by Radio 2 and it continues to be on Capital's playlist. Let's see if increased airplay can help the song a bit.

If the music for The Girls is as beautiful as the one for Finding Neverland, I swear I'll swim to UK and strangle Gary personally for OK-ing Hey Boy :P How can the same person who wrote the lyrics for The World Turned Upside Down, for instance, sing now "Hey boy, don't leave me on the phone"? Even so, I'm still sad to see the single flopping. But maybe, like Jay and dylandog said, this will force the boys to reconsider their moves and return to the music that made fans fall in love with them. I remember Gary in "Open Book" saying that, if one day, he'd be feeling like experimenting with music and write jazz, for example, he'd do it for himself, but he would not put it out for fans, because artists have to be considerate with what the fans want and find a middle ground. Now it would be a good moment for him and the other boys to take this advice. Even if they feel like moving forward with their music and keeping up with the trends, they should also remember that they're doing this for the fans and the fans want a certain sound.

Combined with the Amazon and physical sales, it could end up in top 30, maybe even top 25. It all depends if it stays in top 30 till Thursday. I think it's performed quite decently, if I'm honest, considering it's the 1st time TT have gone for the on air/on sale strategy and that only Capital has playlisted the song. If Radio 2 playlists it next week, the song may not fall out of top 100 just yet. I have to admit it's started to grow on me a little. I still detest the lyrics, but the music is quite catchy. #20 in the midweeks

I don't think there is anywhere a snippet of Carry Me Home. I said I'd have liked it to be a single because, when it was leaked at the beginning of the tour, I liked it a lot. Unfortunately, the guy who posted the snippet then deleted it after a few days. But I think you'll like it, because, at least in that snippet, Gary's voice was sooo clear and it didn't seem to have been distorted by electronical sounds.

I've just heard the first snippet of Adele's new single. I'm not a fan of hers, but I have to admit that's the sound I would have wanted from the boys this time. I wish they'd have chosen Carry Me Home to promote the new edition of III.

The Graham Norton radio show didn't help the single at all. It climbed 2 places last night, after TFI, but it fell down to 17 this morning. However, it did help the album, as III is currently the no 1 bestseller on Amazon. I'd like to see III reach double platinum this year, cause, regardless of my feelings towards Hey Boy, I'm still loving most of the album.

Sorry to say this, but, if it weren't for Gary's vocal control, that performance would have gone downhill.

I'm not holding out much hope for the other 3 tracks. 3 out of the 4 new tracks are credited to Mark and Howard. Bird in Your Hand is "co-written" by Michael Corson - a fan's dead husband. he suffered from alcoholism and depression. After his death, his wife sent to TT some lyrics her husband had written. Mark was touched by her story and decided to incorporate some of the lyrics in the song that appears on this new edition of III - apparently, he's the one singing the song. The only track I'm holding a bit of a hope for is the one credited to actual TT. I don't know why Mark and Howard are leading the influence of their new music, but what I've heard so far is not to my taste. If this continues to be the case with the new album next year, I might cease to be a TT fan. I agree with dylandog: the rationale part of me wants Hey Boy to flop so that things have a chance of returning to normal. Of course, there's that nagging hearty part of me that doesn't want that to happen, because a flop now could mean a series of flops in the future and I don't want a potentially good album to flop because of one crappy song.

No. I pre-ordered the 2015 edition of the album, but, for the 1st time, I didn't buy the physical single cd. Maybe I'll download it from HMV later in the week, if there's any sign that it could chart, but more out of loyalty than out of desire. I don't really understand this release strategy. The single is available as an album track only, there's no iTunes banner like 1D have, the video hasn't been released...What are they waiting for? How are people outside their hardcore fanbase going to know there's a single out? As much as I hate the song, I don't wanna see it flop. Although...it may teach them a lesson: that this isn't what people wanna hear from them.

Agreed :( When I think back at the snippet leaked at the beginning of the tour and how promising it was sounding, how TT it was sounding and now we get this.... I still don't understand what Howard was so excited about. Luckily, from what I've seen, it's just a promo single. I want them to stop with this electronical and dance tendencies. Gary has such a lovely voice and it's in a better shape than ever, why distort it and make it unrecognizable? And lately, his lyrics have been so mature...what's with this teen non-sense? I don't want them to sell out just for the sake of commercial success. Of course, now that the song is childish enough, Capital seems to be on board with it <_<

I'd be happy if the new single can reach top 50, never mind top 10. They wouldn't go to no 1 even if 1D didn't release the same day. Without the backup of Radio 1 and Capital and a major tv performance, I can't see it being a hit. If it can sell the album and help get to double platinum, I'd say the single has fulfilled its purpose and I'd be satisfied with that. I so hope that, for their next album, they return to their classic sound.
