Josh's Top 104 Movies of 2017!
101. Free Fire I didn't hate this at the time either but in hindsight I do recall being really bored whilst watching it. Non-supernatural action films aren't really my thing and this just feel like watching gunshot after gunshot with not really storyline to it. It was entertaining enough for a little while but it became very samey and I was struggling to pay attention to who was shooting who and what the reason was for. There were also far too many characters so it was difficult to even keep up with who was who (especially the actors I hadn't seen before). There were some good parts though - Sharlto Copley was hilarious as per usual and I enjoyed Brie Larson's fierce character too but overall I did feel it dragged despite a very short run time which can't be a good thing. 100. John Wick: Chapter Two I can basically say the same for this as I said for Free Fire... moderately entertaining to begin with but action scene after action scene with very little dialogue or plot just made me switch off completely. This gets a slightly higher position because the incredibly brutal fight scenes were fun at times so I can see why these films are so popular but personally it just wasn't my cup of tea. I know a fair few people are fans of Keanu Reeves too but I find him pretty boring personally and rather lacking in charisma - the film would have benefitted greatly from a more likeable lead star in my opinion. 99. The Snowman This was probably the messiest film of the year and it rightfully got panned by all the critics but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't entertained during some scenes so it manages to avoid the bottom five for me. The trailer seemed very intense and it had me hyped as it seemed pretty similar to The Girl on the Train which I absolutely loved but the finished product was terribly edited and I wasn't surprised to hear rumours that some of the footage had been left on the cutting room floor as it did feel very disjointed. It also did the cheap twist where the murderer ends up being someone who is barely even a character for the majority of the film so the big reveal doesn't feel all that earned. It became even more stupid when the 98. Transformers: The Last Knight Eh, we're already out of the really bad films and into the more mediocre range where there are things I both liked and disliked about the movie. I've never seen a Transformers movie before so I'm not the most clued up on the lore of the Transformers movie universe but I managed to dive in pretty easily and get the gist of what was going on. Mark Wahlberg provided buckets of charisma as usual and was a lot of fun to watch as the lead character. Cogman was very cute too and made me laugh a fair bit - a bit of a C3PO rip off perhaps but he definitely added some good jokes into the mix. On the opposite side, the runtime is far, far, far too long and I was dreadfully bored in the third act which is obviously supposed to be the most exciting/big finale part of the film. The dialogue also made me physically cringe a couple too many times and the script definitely could have done with a re-write (the annoying kid characters could have been scrapped too, they were pretty irrelevant and just ended up being annoying). 97. Smurfs: The Lost Village Smurfs wasn't really all that bad and I'm sure I would have massively enjoyed it if I was a bit younger but I guess there is just an age everybody reaches where some children's films just don't appeal anymore. I'll still sit and watch a Pixar film or Disney film and have a great time but these sorts of animated films have very little for adults to enjoy and are definitely more aimed at younger audiences only. I much preferred the live-action/animated hybrid film from 2011 to be honest but I'm not sure if that's just because I was obviously much younger when I saw it and so the juvenile humour was much funnier to me back then. I did appreciate Hank Azaria as Gargamel in those films and I do think his presence was missed in this. Fully animated Gargamel just wasn't as compelling for me.

Josh's Top 104 Movies of 2017!
I spontaneously went to see Jumanji today with my cousin so this has been changed to a top 104. Thankfully it was pretty good so the bottom three have just been bumped down a spot each... It's certainly in contention for the crown this year!! Gah at you hating on the Marvel movies though - I'll have you know that all three from last year are right near the top !! *.* Thanks for commenting Jack!! Daniel is a fave but I'm not sure it'll quite be battling it out for #1 :P Stay tuned though and you'd be stupid not to fancy at least one person from my #1 :P  Thank you for commenting Grant!! I certainly wouldn't recommend either :heehee: Most of the bottom 10 or so are all pretty terrible in my books :P Thanks Jonjo <3

104. Happy End There isn't really just ONE film that stands out as worst of the year material like 45 Years or The Big Short in previous years so here is a batch of three that are all just dreadfully dull and uninteresting and I would not recommend sitting through. I think they're all pretty much equal on the boring scale but I've put Happy End right at the bottom as it is freshest in my memory. Happy End is fresh on Rotten Tomatoes and is directed by the critically applauded Michael Haneke so I'm probably just not intelligent enough to really get this film but I didn't really have any clue what was going on for the whole run time. It actually reminded me a little of the aforementioned 45 Years where it just felt like watching footage of people go about their day to day lives with little plot to actually make it interesting. The acting was strong and was probably the only thing I enjoyed in the film. The immigration social commentary seemed a bit forced in and the ending just left me a bit puzzled really so it felt like a waste of two hours sitting through it. 103. Rules Don't Apply Rules Don't apply was actually a big disappointment for me. I was expecting to enjoy it a lot because I always like films about Hollywood and the Golden Globe nomination for Lily Collins had me even more excited to see the film but it ended up being a total bore. Alden Ehrenreich was massively charismatic in it so he managed to keep me entertained during his scenes (I can't wait to see him as young Han Solo - I think he has exactly the right amount of charm to nail that role *.*). Annette Bening was fab in her little cameo too but instead we had to put up with a really unlikeable Warren Beatty character as our lead protagonist which just made it a chore to sit through. A film centred solely around Collins and Ehrenreich may have been far more entertaining but unfortunately Beatty forced him self in front of the camera too and his plot completely ruined the film for me. 102. Gold I don't even have much to say about this one. It's just so mediocre and uninteresting that it became bad. I didn't even hate this whilst watching it but it soured in my memory just because it was so dull and uninteresting. I found the characters very unlikeable too so never really enjoyed watching the actors on-screen aside from Bryce Dallas Howard who was easily the best thing about the film. I guess the shock where you find out the was a bit of an unexpected twist but I had lost all interest way before then and I was just glad when the end credits finally arrived...

RESULTS: Buzzjack's Top Musical Films Of All Time
Those results are in the hands of Sam! I've seen about three horror films in my entire lifetime so I'd be useless at counting those down  Was just seeing if there were any suggestions for another genre countdown that I could host myself like this one as I quite enjoyed doing it ~~

Love, Simon
Finished reading the book in under a day earlier this week and thought it was really sweet - it had me guessing who the anonymous e-mailer was and had a really lovely ending too which was nice. Nick Robinson is a very good casting choice for how I imagined Simon when reading the book so I'm very excited to see the film now, the book captured really nicely a lot of feelings and inner worries/thoughts that I've definitely had too growing up with my sexuality etc. x

Versus: Daniel Day-Lewis vs. Meryl Streep vs. Jack Nicholson
I've seen way more Meryl films than films from the other two so she is the obvious choice for me. She has some absolutely killer performances - Sophie's Choice, Silkwood, Doubt, Mamma Mia, Kramer vs. Kramer to name just a few. Always impresses me how she can do comedy so well too (Death Becomes Her, Devil Wears Prada etc.), I wish she did it more to be honest  A bit ashamed that I've actually only seen ONE Jack Nicholson film (Terms of Endearment) so I must change that in 2018. I have Chinatown on DVD so I'll get around to that one first at some point !!

Favourite collab with... Ariana Grande
"Hey Mama" deserved better in the last round :( It's not quite as amazing as "Turn Me On" which rightfully walked it but it really is under-rated on here, it BANGS at parties every time!! This round was super tough for me as Ariana & Nicki seem to work so well every time but I think "Side to Side" narrowly edges it for me just for it's pure damn sexiness. The other two are 10/10s too though - bit of a dream team are these two girls *.*

RESULTS: Teenage Dream vs 1989
20. Circle the Drain 42 points (Biggest fan: HarryEzra - 18 points) fpTbnrxMs_Y 19. Hummingbird Heartbeat 43 points (Biggest fan: Joe - 13 points) vpoSwO4pnr8 Another two Katy tracks drop out in this batch meaning she has lost 9 tracks so far compared to just 7 for Taylor :o Hummingbird Heartbeat is FAR too low and really should be competing for top 10 in my opinion, it really is the single that never was and it's such a shame she never pushed it as I'm sure it would have been yet another worldwide smash for her. Circle the Drain has a banging chorus too so I'm glad that has made top the top 20. Both of these would be higher in my own personal rankings than the likes of "All You Had to Do Was Stay", "Style" & the Kanye version of "ET" which are all still yet to come :( So far... 19. Hummingbird Heartbeat(43 points) 20. Circle the Drain (42 points) 21. Wonderland (38 points) 22. Part of Me (33 points) 23. I Wish You Would (28 points) 24. Peacock (22 points) 25. RESULTS: Beyoncé Singles Rate
13. Countdown Average - 7.91 Lovers (10 - PAJ88, Joe, Blacksquare, Theo, Cremey, Euphorique, Riser) Haters (0 - Nick F1 // 2 - Cameron) 2XY3AvVgDns Countdown is one of those songs that I really was not expecting to come this high and has done massively better than my expectations :o I never used to like it all that much as I used to think it was a bit messy due to its odd structure but now I do really, really like it and it is a proper party tune so always sounds good when I'm getting ready to go out somewhere. I still wouldn't rank it this high personally but it seems to have loads of big fans here receiving an impressive seven 10s in the rate! 12. Best Thing I Never Had Average - 7.98 Lovers (11 - Cameron) Haters (3 - Davidson // 4 - Nick F1) FHp2KgyQUFk Another single from '4' drops out next in the form of single 2, "Best Thing I Never Had". This was far more instant for me and remains one of my favourite Bey singles of all-time. It has some really uplifting break-up lyrics and feels super good to sing at the top of your voice in a FUCK YOU kind of way. Bey does the very same on the actual track showing off her incredible vocals, especially towards the end of the track. I always feel this is pretty forgotten nowadays by the general public so I'm glad it's still loved here on Buzzjack.

Molly's Game
Ehhhh, to be completely honest, I found myself being really bored after a little while. Jessica Chastain was incredibly watchable in this, Idris Elba has some really impressive big shouty scenes and I did find the snappy Aaron Sorkin dialogue pretty engaging for a while but the 140 minute runtime really begins to show in the final act and I found myself thinking about what spread I was going to have on my toast when I got back home during the final act. A few of the poker references were completely lost on me too so maybe a bit more of an effort to explain those would have been nice too...

'The Greatest Showman' | Jan 2018
Really had a lovely time watching this - there were some really nice scenes and I warmed to all of the characters massively too. As Jonjo says, Zendaya is so charismatic and watchable so I can't wait for her to properly transition to the big movie star she deserves to be. Keala Settle was my other big highlight from the film - THOSE VOCALS (especially in "This Is Me" which is completely amazing *.*) are incredible. Wouldn't say it's one of my all-time favourite musicals but it was very enjoyable and all of the songs were very good too - I can imagine a stage show version of this being completely amazing!!

RESULTS: Teenage Dream vs 1989
22. Part of Me 33 points (Biggest fan: Joseph - 12 points) uuwfgXD8qV8 21. Wonderland 38 points (Biggest fan: JohnJames - 10 points) HjdplfcjlIw Oops, we have our first single fall out now as Part of Me fails to even make the top 20. It seems to be pretty disliked on here for a Katy Perry song which is a shame as I've always quite liked it - I was OBSESSED with it when it first debuted and although it admittedly hasn't stood the test of time as well as some of the Teenage Dream singles, I do find it pretty catchy and certainly under-rated here on Buzzjack... :( So far... 21. Wonderland (38 points) 22. Part of Me (33 points) 23. I Wish You Would (28 points) 24. Peacock (22 points) 25. Clean (22 points) 26. I Know Places (21 points) 27. How You Get the Girl (21 points) 28. RESULTS: Buzzjack's Top Musical Films Of All Time
02. Rocky Horror Picture Show | 1975 | 272 pts | Biggest lover: 1st (Severin) | Josh's Song Highlight: "Touch-A, Touch-A, Touch Me" (performed by Susan Sarandon) jRiZRMLGjCY 01. Grease | 1978 | 314 pts | Biggest lover: 1st (Harry, Jade, Jahq & Theo) | Josh's Song Highlight: "Look At Me, I'm Sandra Dee" (performed by Stockard Channing) Uz5D-D7VYmY Whilst I may not have agreed with some other films coming so high in the countdown, these two are really undeniable classics and they make a brilliant runaway top two. For about half of the results, Rocky Horror was actually a little in front but the Grease fans really came out in full force and it scored a massive four top scores! My song highlights here may bit a controversial as I imagine Time Warp & either Summer Loving or You're the One That I Want would be most people's choices but these two have always been my favourites from those and I find them both super-underrated. I love the cheekiness of Rizzo in Grease and Janet is one of my favourite Susan Sarandon roles too - my school friendship always used to go mad for a bit of "Touch-A, Touch-A, Touch Me" at pre-drinks  Thanks for joining me on this countdown !! I hope you enjoyed reading :D x

RESULTS: Buzzjack's Top Musical Films Of All Time
http://cdn.teen.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/hsm-dance-gif.gif 03. High School Musical | 2006 | 220 pts | Biggest lover: 3rd (Jahq) | Josh's Song Highlight: "Breaking Free" (performed by Zac Efron & Vanessa Hudgens) ZLa__49Ltv4 You heard it here on Buzzjack first!! - High School Musical is the THIRD best musical of all-time of course  High School Musical tells the story of two people who try out for the leads in a high school musical () and a romance blossoms between the two. It's an OK film but hardly top three musicals of all-time for me. I think it's heaps of fun but it doesn't even have the best songs from the trilogy to be honest and is a bit too light to really compare to the classics in my rankings. It has a few nice tracks though so I've gone for Breaking Free as my song highlight. Of course, as I child, I knew all the words like most people and it's still fun when people play it nowadays. Shout out to "Stick to the Status Quo" too! ROCKY HORROR VS. GREASE!!
