The Pop Factor: Season 2 • Boot Camp: Part One (Groups)
1 HAIM (fave) 2 FLORENCE 3 ATOMIC KITTEN 4 BLONDIE 5 ABBA 6 THE CORRS 7 1975 8 ERASURE 9 ACE OF BASE 10 SCISSOR SISTERS 11 THE CHICKS Soooooooo competitive compared to the other two heats. ‘The Sound’ probably would’ve been 3rd/4th in those.

1 FKA TWIGS. (Fave) 2 LILY ALLEN 3 KESHA 4 ROSALIA 5 TONI BRAXTON 6 DELTA 7 LISA 8 NADIA OH Nice to be able to put Rosalia in the top half. Back when she was releasing exciting music as an up And comer and not torturing us with awful rackets like Berghain.

The Pop Factor: Season 2 • Boot Camp: Part One (Solo Female)
Early hype for Rosalia (a rare song I like from her) and twigs (can’t wait to hear this one love in June)

The Pop Factor: Season 2 • THE FINAL RESULTS
I must admit that I don't really understand the logic of the female top three either as Jay says. Does it not also mean Chappell/Nelly/Kelly get to essentially skip a round and save a better song for later on which gives them advantage over other artists using a big song to get through this next round? I'm just trusting in Calum because everything's been organised so well and I'm sure it makes more sense than I realise. To me though, the obvious thing would've been to just treat it as though Michelle came last and then move on as planned.

Are there any entries of yours that you just don't remember? 🥲
There’s a few of my pre-comeback songs that I couldn’t hum. Mostly the generic dance stuff that was popular at the time but has proved to be forgettable as years go by. Some are still in regular rotation for me though like Best Thing by Sykes or Xtalk by Hundred Waters. All my entries since BJSC 162 have been songs I’ve genuinely loved for that month (or even years prior in the cases of Girls Like Sex by L Devine and Dreamcatcher by Keke Palmer), so I could easily sing the choruses to every one on the spot. The two I know least well are Teen Jesus and The Jean Teasers and Kim lip.

dandy* ranks the UK #1 singles of 1979
Enjoying your write-ups Dandy! My knowledge of 70s popular music is minimal so I’m just playing anything you mention really. So far my favourite discovery is Pop Muzik! My fave of the number ones was the Dr Hook one. I’m also a big fan of No More Tears (Enough is Enough). It’s exactly the sort of anti-men pop diva music I love.

The Pop Factor: Season 2 • The Solo Female Orbit Auditions
Some intriguing choices in here from the ones I know already. Glass & Patron was my entry to the recent bop Idol one-hit wonder spin off and seemed to go down well there so fingers crossed it’s well received here in the pop forum too.

The Pop Factor: Season 2 • The Groups Orbit Auditions
Could be another one where Blondie win I reckon! Or maybe Florence. Yet again the strongest category though from the songs I already know. The groups are bringing it!!!

DANÆVIIA_181_BJSC_FINALE_RESULTS
Catching up on all the results this morning. Quite amazing results on the whole. I can’t think of a time when 6/7 of the top 7 were in my votes. My tastes don’t normally align with the rest so much. It’s also one of my favourite winners since I’ve been entering. It may not be a discovery but it’s a song I’ve adored for years so I couldn’t give my 18 to anything else. People should listen to the whole ‘Palomino’ album really but I’d recommend ‘Angel’ and ‘The Last One’ especially if you’re short for time. It’s funny that I’ve loved ‘Out of my Head’ for years and never once thought it’d be suited to BJSC, so in many ways it’s a surprise hit to me. Great choice from Cheiron to have the foresight to send it. I’m excited to visit there next month. EDIT: Oh… or not ^ .. hahahaha The only bad thing is I can’t help but be a little disappointed with Florence Road missing the top ten. When I sent it, I had no expectations of it getting hype but the it’s easy to get carried away when you see the predictions thread. 14th is a good result for Ajanaeda in comparison to our mean average final position, so yay! And it’s still awesome to see my entry connected enough with people to get a few medal positions from various countries so a big thank you to them. I’ve booked to see Florence Road on tour this May so keep an eye out if they’re visiting a city near you 👀

The Pop Factor: Season 2 • The Solo Male Earth Auditions
It’s nice to seee numerous ppl comment on how great a discovery Conan Gray’s song is! This era was soooo underrated . That was like maybe the 5th best song from the era and it was still 2nd in my votes.

1 THE CORRS (fav) 2 HAIM 3 FLORENCE + THE MACHINE 4 BLONDIE 5 GIRLICIOUS 6 ACE OF BASE 7 ABBA 8 A1 9 ATOMIC KITTEN 10 ERASURE 11 THE 1975 12 SCISSOR SISTERS 13 THE CHICKS (least fave) The ABBA one seemed like a rogue choice (only because I’d never heard it really) but turned out to be a mega bop. Thanks for the discovery!! Excited to see what Atomic Kitten do offer up elsewhere because I have a huge soft spot for them!

The Pop Factor: Season 2 • The Solo Female Earth Auditions
1 CHAPPELL ROAN (fave) 2 KELLY CLARKSON 3 DELTA GOODREM 4 NELLY FURTADO 5 MICHELLE BRANCH 6 KESHA 7 TONI BRAXTON 8 LILY ALLEN 9 FKA TWIGS 10 NADIO OH 11 CHER LLOYD 12 LiSA 13 ROSALIA Michelle Branch was my biggest discovery in this round! Ranked it immediately higher than some songs I’ve been familiar with for years!!!! I feel like the one person on Earth who doesn’t really get Rosalia (aside from a few songs) so that seems to have continued here. I bet she goes far though! I think Kelly is a strong competitor for the win if we stick with 14 songs from the first few eras. If there’s an album track round then Twigs could storm that too. So many 10/10 choices.
