I find it so strange that Take You Dancing, Hallucinate and the Jubel cover of Dancing In The Moonlight are STILL not being added to Hot Hits UK. I mean they are all firmly in the top 40, so they are hits?

I don’t think Levitating is actually a single? It’s not been picked up by radio or added to any big streaming playlists, I literally think it’s just to promote the remix album. Dua’s team are smart enough to know a club remix featuring Madonna and Missy Elliot was not going to be a runaway success in 2020.

Don’t think Levitating will be anywhere near the top 40 by the end of the week. Keep going Hallucinate!

Yeah, they seem to be more cautious adding stuff at the moment, they only added WAP once they saw how much it was climbing, so I assume it will be the same situation for Midnight Sky.

This is why I think there is an argument for adding radio airplay to the charts now. It would make it more of a singles chart again. Just my opinion, I know all the chart loyalists won’t agree.

It’s funny how much being added to Radio 1’s playlist mattered 10 years ago, if you weren’t on the playlist, your single was doomed. Now it doesn’t really matter if Radio 1 play you or not, it helps, but it’s nowhere near as important anymore.

It’s interesting that a few songs are doing really well without Hot Hits UK support. Hallucinate #74 What’s Love Got to Do With It #66 Take You Dancing #64 Dancing in the Moonlight #30 I assume these are all being boosted by the Summer Hits UK playlist or TikTok

Don’t think so, it’s showing signs of potential. Her team should be pushing to get it on Hot Hits.

I like Taylor’s album, but I’m not surprised that Cardigan has dived out of the top 10, it’s summer and good weather at the moment, no one is adding Cardigan to their summer playlists. Folklore is a more suited to Autumn/Winter.

A little Hallucinate update: iTunes #10 Spotify #150 Apple Music #78 YouTube #52 It’s doing really well on Spotify without any support from Hot Hits UK or Today’s Top Hits.

Not a bad start. It’s currently #17 on iTunes and has been reduced to 59p. Good to see the label are doing all they can. Spotify’s obsession with only play-listing newly released music is infuriating. Harry Styles current era has shown you can have success with multiple post album singles - if the playlist support is there.

Another update and it’s still not been added to Hot Hits. Are the label able to ask for it to be added or swapped out with Break My Heart? Or is it purely up to Spotify?

Hopefully thinks pick up next week, as this feels like a very slow start - with the animated video (unsurprisingly) not doing big numbers, minimal radio airplay and it’s not been added to Hot Hits.

I love Blinding Lights and Don’t Start Now, but it’s time for them to leave the top 10. Break Your Heart and In Your Eyes need there time to shine.

They should have taken this year off and then come back in 2021 with a new album and a 10 years of Little Mix hits tour.

This will be the best top 10 in quite a while.
