I never said it was a new music playlist? It’s supposed to be a balance of new songs and current hits. But what is the point if the same songs dominate the top half and new music goes unheard at the bottom of the playlist. Songs which have spent multiple weeks in the charts already, should be moved down to make way for new hits and at least attempt to keep the charts fresh.

Nightmare will probably be track 10 on Hot Hits in 3 months time when all the hype has died. That seems to be how Hot Hits works. I’m hoping as time passes, there will be rules put in place regarding how long a track can be on a influential playlist like Hot Hits.

Celebration in 2009 was the last time she was on the playlist. I don’t know why this gets brought up every era, first of all Radio 1 does not have anywhere near the impact it had 10 years ago - even if she was on the playlist it still wouldn’t be a hit, because it’s streams would be low regardless. Spotify and Apple Music playlists are much more important than radio. Kylie managed to sneak a week in the top 40 with Dancing thanks to a vinyl single and good promo - that’s the best artists like Kylie, Madonna and Cher can ask for. Madonna is the Queen of pop and had over 20 years being played on Radio 1, which most artists now will not get near. Let new and emerging artists have it.

In the OCC Madonna 2017 best sellers list Justify My Love was 23 and Erotica was 41. Surely Erotica hasn’t sold enough in 2 years to outsell Justify.

Are we expecting the whole Lemonade album to enter the top 50 today?

It’s a shame. I really thought the turnaround had worked and the Vinyl revival had slowed the decline. If I really like an album I do still tend to go to HMV and get it on CD/Vinyl. Obviously DVD sales have dropped of the earth since the last collapse, which won’t help. I do wonder how this will affect music sales.

If Sweet But Psycho makes it to #1, it will be the best Christmas number one in a VERY long time (probably since Sound of the Underground in 2002)

It’s nice to see a different song by Mariah entering the top 200. Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) is also superior to AIWFC.

What a slow start Mariah had in the UK, Someday and Loves Takes Time #1 in the US, but barely making a dent in the UK. Hopefully Emotions can keep rising through the years, it’s one of her most recognisable songs Great to see a recent single almost make the top 10 #Beautiful

I would say it was a combo of Forever Is Over being the lead single and the fact it had a ridiculous title. If they had lead with Ego - I think the story would have been very different. Ultimately it was the right thing to move on to Headlines as we got Higher from it, but I do think they gave up on Wordshaker too quickly.
