Spice Girls - Chart Runs & Sales Thread: UK
Hi @Jay. Are you planning to do an update on the 1st page figures and certifications anytime soon? Many of them are not updated considering the recent certifications and new sales figures we've had these past months. Thanks in advance.

Spice Girls • Spotify / Apple Music / iTunes / YouTube
When they explained what happened to weird Barbie. The scene where the little girl cuts her hair, paints her face, split her legs, etc. "Spice Up Your Life" is the soundtrack to that scene for like 40 seconds. Not in the background but completely present.

OCC: Craig David's Top 20 Best Sellers
Damn... Someone got a little creative with his discography page on Wikipedia, then... 'cos those I mentioned are "Silver" there. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craig_David_discography The source was BPI and I didn't check... I assumed they were real. I know singles market was pretty dead in 2002-2004, but still shocking to see some of his Top 10 songs selling less than "16"...

OCC: Craig David's Top 20 Best Sellers
Many things in that Top 20 make no sense. It's said to be a Top 20 of sales + streaming combined... "Heartline" or "I know you" (which are not certified Silver yet) are above in that chart of "Rendezvous", "Hot Stuff" or "One More Time". Songs that were certified Silver for more than 200k copies sold long time ago. Even worse, "Spanish", "Hidden Agenda" or "All the Way" are not even in that Top 20 despite being Silver as well, but then songs not certified, and even the #64 peaking song "16" is there... That Top 20 is obviously his 20 most streamed tracks. Not sales+streaming combined. I tweeted the guy who wrote the article and he was like "I wrote the article myself and it's correct", but it obviously isn't.

Sats iTunes Watch Part 7
I read the Twitter response yesterday, before any link was available, and I was expecting the worst performance ever... I just watched it and it was not bad at all for me... Only Vanessa's mic much louder than the rest, but it was OK. Not off key or terrible as I read... Well, we know how Twitter works. I don't think those people were going to buy the album anyway... At least it has helped a bit on iTunes and maybe there won't be such a big drop next week.

SUGABABES - OVERLOADED - THE SINGLES COLLECTION 2 x Platinum Certification (Album) 22 July 2013 UNIVERSAL MUSIC (ISLAND) Released 13 November 2006 Certification History: Platinum Certification 08 December 2006 Gold Certification 24 November 2006 Silver Certification 24 November 2006 Now, BPI will certify songs and albums automatically. But I guess they have not fully updated all their database yet... They still got C&S certified Silver but last known figure was 120k... And TIMW will have definitely passed 900k by now, so it should be 3xPlat, not 2.

New certifications on BPI website: SUGABABES - ABOUT YOU NOW Gold Certification (Single) 22 July 2013 UNIVERSAL MUSIC (ISLAND) Released SUGABABES - GIRLS Silver Certification (Single) 22 July 2013 UNIVERSAL MUSIC (ISLAND) Released SUGABABES - PUSH THE BUTTON Gold Certification (Single) 22 July 2013 UNIVERSAL MUSIC (ISLAND) Released Now, apparently, BPI will certify songs and albums when they reach the amount, not when the record company applies for it. It's an automatic certification service. But I guess they have not fully updated all their database yet... 'Get Sexy' and 'Hole in the head' should have definitely passed 200k by now and should be Silver too. (They were in the same range of Girls (180k) last time we got figures 4 years ago....)

Weekly Sales (Albums)
Oh, 52k a year ago? So OYR is definitely at/close to 60k now. If only Fascination would certify their albums and singles... (Headlines, Higher, AFU and now maybe OYR too)
-
Weekly Sales (Albums)
735,809 albums sold according to Music Week today. With sales from the 1st page here we get 625k. Maybe we can estimate something like... Chasing Lights: 365k Wordshaker: 95k Headlines: 220k On Your Radar: 55k I think Wordshaker must be very close to 100k and On Your Radar to 60k, maybe a couple thousands away each. I just hope Fascination get to certify Headlines once and for all, and maybe Wordshaker could be certified Gold and OYR Silver.
-
Weekly Sales (Singles)
3.6 million records sold in the UK according to the OCC article published today. http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/a...-1-single-2121/ If we add figures "to date" for singles and albums from this thread we get 3.3 million... So almost 300k missing sales. Hope we could get updated figures for all releases!

Albums
This week I went to London and saw a nice book, OCC official material, "Virgin Book of British Hits Albums", 2009, by Martin Roach, ISBN-10: 0753517000 , with peak position, weeks on chart and certification of every album ever charting in the UK (till mid 2009, I think). Well, Taller in more ways was certified 3xPlatinum, not 2, according to this book (which I completeley see normal, as last known figure is 887,264). And, according to the book, "Catfights and Spotlights" was Gold, not Silver. (Last known figure is 122,326). BPI website has LOTS of albums under certified or non certified at all but then we've seen MusicWeek publish the updated and real certifications, etc. Anyone knows if this book is correct and those 2 albums are in fact officialy certified 3xPlat/Gold respectively??

It does not make a difference when you're high already on iTunes as sales are higher on the Top 10... But it did wonders for No can do, for example... I can't remember where NCD peaked on iTunes, but it was like 20 places below its final position on the official chart.... and it was thanks to the physicals.
-
A08S01 - 'Freedom'
I still cannot believe RCA is not releasing a physical single... It can do wonders for artists like them. Example: Nicola Robert's Lucky Day... Peak iTunes: #67 Peak Amazon: #85 Peak HMV Digital: Not even on chart... Today's Midweeks: #19 She released a physycal single only in her website.... It will fall like a rock comes Sunday, obviously, low Top 40 or so... but if it wasn't for the physical, this will struggle to be Top 75. I think the Babes still have a fan base (a lot smaller now, I know) that will buy a single to "complete their collections"... and they could be like 10 places higher or so with a physical... I think.

Well... that 1st performance was on July 10th! So, no effect at all... And yes, they will have like 5 or 6 performances... but all weeks before the release. Hope they left something in store for the release's week.
