I just read the whole thread and only 1 person said they were Punk and that was This Charming Man, who admitted he wasn't sure where to put them & was talking of terms of where to this should be on the forum. But we all get the grief anyway. :blink:

Where did you find out about a 2nd album? I hope it's true, her 1st is quite classy and been a grower for me. But Oxygen the 3rd single didn't get a release but the label she's on was set up so I dont think she'd be dropped as she has 2 hits. Hmm, I worry about Marie - she's too good. A pure pop sound for a new album and she'll be rockin.

Fair enough that would annoy anyone and I cant speak for everyone on here but I'm not an employee of MTV, a part of the Music Industry or a braindead American teenager. It's not that nice that we should read aggressive words like that when it's not actually directed at us as we don't believe that or said that.

I think you take it seriously as you clearly have a lot to say about GC - a band who you dont like. I have loads of friends who like them and we all dont think they're punk - that is having a clue about music surely? And on their Myspace they're labelled as: Good Charlotte Pop Punk / Pop Punk / Pop Punk I don't think they're punk but they obviously know and admit they are pop and have a pop sound so they only people who have issues are the the non-fans. And I wont take anyone on an Internet forum telling me what my musical knowledge is, I'll save it for critics and producers and anyone involved in the music business I have contact with...so that ain't even regestering with me. I can appreciate when something is fun pop punk & not which is what GC are. Again i been hearing this since 2002 and people are still saying the exact same things about them and there's no conlusion. You don't think they're punk then fine repeating it all the time is just not doing anything. Perhaps move the topic to pop as I really like this tune and was hoping to read what people thought of it. :blink:

You haven't actually spent enough time slagging off their actual music than their image and who you think they are. So their image is targeted a certain way - so what. When they're on my mp3 player I am not thinking about what they look like - I appreciate the songs and like the music. And I'll listen to punk songs when I want to hear punk...I just dont take GC as seriously as you do. And I dont need to make anything as I clearly dont have a problem were this topic is, you started attacking them for not being 'punk' - I hope the topic stays here and that young people on Buzzjack now think they are where punk begins and ends it's legacy...now I know it'll annoy you even more. :dance: :dance: :dance:

I'm sorry, I thought it was about music not what someone looks like. <_< And by music I gave reasons above about the topics they sing about. And Mcfly's songs aren't anywhere near as heavy or rocky. As a huge Ash fan for nearly 10 years I'd prefer them be compared to a band who write and produce their own stuff then...musically and lyrically they aren't similar. I don't see what the problem is here. This forum is Punk, Rock and Metal. GC are rock...if you're so pissed off with bands not belonging here then make anothr forum for it but they are rock, they're a unit like a rock band and their songs are more rock than pop.

But Mcfly and Busted are Pop and you said they're American equivalent so thats why I made that assumption. I just dont see why everything has to be so violent on here, people can argue and disagree but it doesn't have to be so rude.

Me too...It was enjoyabe for like 5 minutes but it just hasn't got the power of the original.

I never once said they were punk. I'm sick of after all the time they been around people still say the same thing and they cant just allow a thread to have the band exist. I didn't say or imply they were dangerous and rebellious so dont dare suggest they're pop like Mcfly and Busted then. You actually did say that about them and thats what I responded too. And there's no need to be so rude in all your posts. I often look here and dont post, especially when like right now you're shouting down my opinion like that - you dont know how I was brought up for that fact either or what type of music I'm into. Ironic that you have a go at Jade's behaviour when you're just being agressive toward me when I gave my reasons for liking a band.

Oh yeah they are nothing like Busted or Mcfly. Those bands are singing about teenage crushes and fit girls. GC are singing about broken homes, dealing with abondonment from their father, suicide of a friend, trying to make it and so on. Their lyrics are a lot a deeper and they've had dark songs compared to Busted and Mcfly. Different kettle of fish altogether.

I love the lyrics in Young & The Hopeless "These critics and these trust fund kids try to tell me what punk is, but when I see them on the street I got nothing to say" So really its no surprise that people are saying this about them again. More people saying they aint punk - yawn. It's been like 4 years now - change the record - I know they did as this new single is a great improvement from them. I have all their albums and they certainly have a pop edge but they are in no way a pop band. It's a shame that I cant come on here and talk about a song I like as people are just slagging them off constantly in the topic. I assume you've heard their 3 albums to justify how they evolved and if they did, seen their lyrical content and so on. What would you prefer - them to sound like they do or another cheesy pop band in the World. They aren't harming no one and take what they do seriously. They're also incredibly appreciative to their fans too. No one typing on a forum will convince me that GC aren't good. I like what they do.

Is this finaly coming out? I've been loving this for a few months now. It was in my top 20 tunes of #06...love love love it.

I love Wind It Up...I just think it's really twisted and takes a while to grow on you...it's a shame it was recorded pre Fergie and came out after her as people think it sounds a bit like her. Only gwen could carry ofthat sample. Other amazing tunes on the album "4 In The Mornin" "Sweet Escape" "Flourescent" "Early Winter" "Wonderful Life" "Dont Get It Twisted"

The acoustic version of Stay but with Siobhan is awesome, I think it's more powerful than the original. I have her 2nd album, I liked her when she was all rocky. Kind of Alanis but mmm...high pitched.

I would love to see a series of that! Great great classy movie and Meryl was convincing and evil enough to send shivers down the spine. This show has a message but I think it's too silly...too Desperate Housewivesy & also I agree the girl playing Betty isn't ugly. If they made in the UK the girl playing Betty would be played by an actress really willing to look rough.

I am sorry for being rude, I cant stand people telling me I've changed my opinion on something I made a statement about when I don't think i have changed it. I always think before commenting. And yes even though that would probably sound c**p I think it's at least doing something to the song - where as a lot of pop bands rely on covers to give them another hit and to stay popular. I'm not deluding myself as I know they released this one to have a top 10 at Christmas but I have more respect for it as it isn't a lame copy like the album version. And to me that's important. But really for me I think I'll Stand By You is the worst as it doesn't seem to caputre the emotion of the original.
