  1. I don't recall ever putting everyone in one box. The only statements I've said since joining this forum is that a lot of members post comments on female pop stars, and that it's narrow minded to think a song is not chart worthy because it's not released by a well known act. Both of which have been agreed with from various other members, so that in its self is obviously going to stop me from "putting everyone in one box". I had actually moved on from the subject until you posted, and I'm not going to justify myself any more to you, as it makes for very boring reading. I'm hoping for a 'Don't You Worry Child' rise, and for that extra push to sell over a million. I can't recall the exact figure but I'm sure I remember it being quite near no?
  2. I read (quite religiously) this forum for around 6 years before finally becoming a member and I can assure you that from the average readers eyes a lot of members do comment mostly on female pop stars. I said reading the comments used to get tiring, I never labeled any members as being boring. Nor have I stereotyped any one in this forum? Obviously something has hit a nerve with you, but please don't resort to sarcasm and talk down to me in that condescending manner. I will happily give you the argument that you're obviously craving for over PM until the early hours if you wish, but there's a different between a friendly debate and paragraphs of eyesores for other members.
  3. I would love a indie or rock song to reach No.1 I loved in 2005 when we had U2, Stereophonics, Oasis (though one of their weakest songs) and Arctic Monkeys all reach No.1  I would love if any of the above or The Manic Street Preachers somehow achieved this again with a comeback song. Afrojack - Ten Feet Tall (feat. Wrable) I must have heard this song a hundred times on the radio at work before knowing who it was, and assumed it was The Wanted
  4. I don't see it as just a debate though personally, it's also ignorance by some people turning their nose up at a act which isn't a household name. I think 7Seize hit the nail on the head regarding the majority of members wanting the charts to be dominated by female popstars, and it used to get very tiring to read. I find it refreshing to read members post comments on songs other than just Katy Perry or Little Mix for example. It would be a very boring forum to read if we all shared the same musical preferences obviously, and though dance is my favourite genre it's no means the only genre that I follow. One look at the current iTunes chart and I like songs by Paloma Faith, Coldplay, Ellie Goudling and quite shamefully One Direction's new song. On a different note, I must be in the minority that would love the charts to repeat the weekly turnover and popular genres of 2000. Between the awfulness of Westlife, A1 and Billie Piper we had the brilliance of Chicane, Oasis, Sonique, Fragma and even The Corrs. :D
  5. Because X Factor related songs are known for their originality? I find it quite lazy and narrow minded when people label a variety of dance songs as "samey" etc., when if they looked closer they'd see that we've had drum and bass (Nobody To Love), chill out, (Waves), house (Hideaway, I Wanna Feel, My Love), something we haven't heard in the charts for a long long time, and typical generic (but good) dance music (Summer, Tsunami). They might not be the exact genre that iTunes has defined them as, but the point still remains that they're all different sub genres of dance, which in turn doesn't make them the same. Does it really matter if they'll be remembered or not? I'm sure they'll be remembered for the individuals that went out of their way and purchased said songs. And I'm sure they'll be just as remembered, if not more, than 5 Seconds of Summer and Sam Smith's number ones... That wasn't a personal rant at you by the way, you just reminded me how annoyed I get when people are quick to label a group of songs as the same.
  6. Luckily enough I can't see that ever happening again. :puke2: Though saying that, she was one of my favorite acts from that year. She just managed to 'F' it up with her material. The only good thing to come from The X Factor was Matt Cardle, and he didn't exactly set the charts alight. I've still managed to avoid hearing the criminal cover of Damian Rice's 'Cannonball'.
  7. This. I can't remember the last time that the No.1 singles have been so good in one year. There has been diversity this year, and I think the "moaners" won't stop moaning until we're punished with the charts being infected with washed up old X Factor finalists and generic girl/boy bands. :puke2:
  8. They all seem like odd choices to me, as I think they've all been probably the worst dance songs this year. Not that they're bad, but they don't sound as fresh and 90's-esque as say, 'I Got U', 'My Love', 'Hideaway' and 'I Wanna Feel', they're just dance songs that the charts have already seen in the last few years?
  9. Completely agree. It would be good if we saw a Indie revival reaching No.1 in between these dance gems instead. Unfortunately I can't see a dance song on the horizon that will continue the domination?
  10. 'I Wanna Feel' will be the last decent No.1 for a while it seems... 'Ghost' is average, and 'Problem' is awful. :puke2: Let's hope another brilliant dance track comes out of nowhere and stops them both.

I think it's one of the best  'Satellite' however, is awful.

Didn't it seem odd to you that Gina G was below Jedward and Scooch? :D
  13. Are you usually a fan of his music? It seems to me like a song that "religious" fans wouldn't be keen on but new listeners would. I'm just not a fan of his more upbeat songs to be honest. I was the same to 'You Need Me, I Don't Need You'.

I would have thought 'Euphoria' would have sold a bit more than that to be honest. It seemed like a bigger hit than it was? Still remains one of the best winning songs though. It's a shame that the Eurovision doesn't make more of an impact on the charts, as some of the songs featured are better than what's already in the charts. I could name quite a few this year that wouldn't sound out of place on the current chart.
  15. As much as I'm a fan, I somehow want this to miss No.1. <_< If 'The A Team', 'Lego House', 'Hush Little Baby' and 'Small Bump' couldn't reach the top spot then it would be criminal if one of his weakest songs did.
  16. It's a shame they both weren't scheduled for release on different weeks, so that they could both be No.1
  17. As much as I don't mind Rita Ora going to No.1 next week, as it's a decent enough song, it would have been nice for there to be no big releases and for Molly to (somehow) grab the No.1 spot :D
  18. Completely agree. :D But I feel a lot of people are guilty of backing their favourite artist to get to No.1 regardless of their material being good or not. But anyway, on a more relevant note, one of the things that really rubs me up the wrong way is some member's comments on dance acts getting to No.1. "Oh, another faceless dance act at No.1" ect ect... There's a fraction of people that would sigh at a dance act being No.1 in the charts purely on the fact that they're not considered "superstar status" ala Katy Perry, Rihanna, Beyonce ect. I don't want to scroll down the charts and just see the above names, I want to see good songs.
  19. Just because he has recently had two consecutive releases get to No.1, I'd hardly say he can get to No.1 with "anything". I'd say he's been unlucky quite a few times actually, and has narrowly missed the top spot four times has he not?
  20. But why would they need to sustain a lengthy career? And why would it mater if they were a one or two hit wonder? As long as the songs reaching No.1 are good material then I don't see a problem if the artists have a lengthy career or not... I think people loon way too much over artists nowadays, regardless of them releasing good material or not. People need to remember the No.1 is the most bought single that week, not the most popular artist. And I can see what people mean regarding the fast turnover, but again, if it's all good material then why does it really matter?
  21. Completely agree. I can't get my head around some member's complaints when a song will achieve No.1 by an unknown artist, as if the title isn't worthy enough for an unknown name... As long as I like the song then I'm not fussed by the popularity status of the name(s) behind it. Being a huge fan of the genre I'm more than happy at the charts at the moment and hope it continues.

Ke$ha 'Timber' 10 Sam Smith 'Money On My Mind' Average 11 Aloe Blacc 'The Man' 12 5 Seconds of Summer 'She Looks So Perfect' Terrible 13 Pharrel Williams 'Happy' Brilliant year for number ones and for dance music  'Tsunami (Jump)' would have been higher if it weren't for the Tinie Tempah version. It's a shame 'The Man' and 'She Looks So Perfect' had to ruin the consecutive dance number ones though.
  23. How 'Problem' is so high on pre-orders I will never know. I've just listened to it and it sounds awful. The whole 'Trumpets' type sound running through most of the song is hurtful to the ears, and even more so is Iggy Azalea's rapping, who I believe has the most annoying vocals since Nikki Minaj. If it weren't for the above it would still be left as just an average pop song? What a horrible way to end the current great No.1s we've been having...
  24. As much as I hate to admit it, One Direction's new song is pretty decent, and has a very clever music video to go with it. I defiantly think their more mature and slower songs are their best.
  25. Expected a lot more to this after reading the comments above. Sounds very similar to his other songs, and that's not particularly a good thing. :nono: He's yet to beat Antenna for me.
