The Pale Fountains
how bizarre (as the Otara Millionaires Club may say) as i ended up buying two pale fountains cds in the sale the other week (tho was thinking of getting some more albums by Love tho I thought that Rhino would probs re-issue them with extras like they did with Forever Changes - but then again they seem to re-issue forever changes aboutn every two weeks or so). Also ended up buying a cd with Flaming Sword by Care on it...was my fave new song of the week!!! how about Shack? do you know of the Head brothers from here or maybe you've come across some of the tales of their career before like losing the only album mastercopy in a taxi and record companies going bust and studios blowing up - cult underated Liverpudlian band and some would say actually preferable to the Gallaghers... (tho they have been recording for Noel's label).. also you might know them from being Arthur Lee's backing band for a while before he died....

Bob The Builder - Big Fish Little Fish

SCAR 3D
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWN!!!!!!!! So did anyone like this? I found it one of the most boring films this year...obv the 3D was a gimmick they had to use to make people intersted as they knew what a useless production they were making from the beginning...

The Smiths Singles Box Set
So you'd be not one for any Rhino issued box set called the best of Blanco y Negro Records then   ...even with a 24 page essay by Geoff Travis?!?!?  Well i would say that using a picture of Charles Hawtrey would be so like totally obv that Wes Butters could write a whole chapter about it (tho it would have been funny if Rhino had accidentally put a picture of Wes on the cover instead - tho not posing in Kenneth Williams pants   ). The box set looks like it should be by someone like St Etienne or Mockingbird Wish Me Luck rather than the smiths...

The Virgin Book of British Hit singles
http://www3.waterstones.com/wat/images/nbd/m/71/9780753515372.jpg looked inside it today - what a dull uninspiring bland book...tho i guess i can let them off not bothering with the full weeks for the top 75 - even im having trouble keeping up each week and so from next year just write down the highest position on my chart sheets

Vanessa Carlton - Where The Streets Have No Name
I like her and yeah A Thousand Miles is a classic single - put this cover doesnt do anything to the song - and yeah when i read that title i went oh no hope its not a cover of the u2 song..i suppose if you are gonna cover it you gonna have to do it like those pet shop boys and make it something completely different - this time a big gay hi-nrg disco record that turn into the boystown gang's version of frankie valli's Can't Take My Eyes off You at the end!!! The Killers - Human - less rock than Girls Aloud?
Their first album was more pop/ dance orientated and so if they are actually pop and not rock - why the f*** are they still in a rock section? is it because they are male and still quite respected in the press...if they were a female band they would just probably got so totally criticized in here and the thread would have been banished to pop faster than the declining fortunes of the feeling...

Do you buy a cd without checking out the artist live first?
hard to say as i buy loads and loads of cds each week - and most of the time i buy cds without actually knowing what im buying with only a vague idea of what im getting (tho this will be thru reading reviews and opinions off my mate, oh and also the fact that most cds i buy are cheap and only the same price as a bottle of cider in wetherspoons) - other times will have seen the band live, other thru watching music channels on tv or thru free cds off music mags

c**p pop stars turned good?
and on the topic of robbie williams - i suppose you could put in stephen duffy esp since he was originally no doubt making $h!ty 80s synthpop rubbish in bands like duran duran and tin tin and then turned into nick drake....which can only be a good thing... 7Ar9LCIkqOI
