  1. V112pTo--Js esp if it was backed by a cover of this!!! (tho if they were gonna do it you would hope they would invite billie ray martin and roisin murphy too and make it a great collaboration)
  2. and what you think about deluxe editions - esp since Universal are gonna go overboard this Xmas with them
  3. One of my faves
  4. Agreed

actually wasnt that camp tbh - much more like being subjected to a bad hen night out in Blackpool than a musical Carry On Camping with songs by Alexander Bard!!!! - then again saying that it was not as bad as i thought it was gonna be and tbh only went as my parents wanted to go 241 and they and their friend enjoyed it loads - thought it was v uplisting and a nice film without any really explicit language (excepting the innuendo obv) or violence http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/28/AOLGGG.jpeg

yeah tho this might have been something to do with it being quite an inteligtent movie and not just a dumb slasher movie - and so its b.o. takings in the states were reported to be not that great - pity as i wanted to see this one v much...tho i guess it will be in the zavvi sale with in two months on dvd   yeah cineworld seems to have done this nationwide in the cinemas where they were showing it...with about 4 other films taking up about 2 screens each recently...would have been good for a bit more intersting counter-programming on a wed evening....then again would you go to like Wood Green if it was on at a better time mid-week?
  7. maybe not as albums over-all but think a lot of post-Maxinquaye singles are as accessible as all the 'big' trip-hop hits
  8. yeah think if youre into that kinda music or like new band who have a similar sound think Spiritualized would probs come up in the review as a reference point just as much as MBV or JAMC - as much as random bands like the Pixes, The Replacements, The Byrds, XTC or Big Star do maybe not at the same [cultural] level - if this is what you mean - but if you like MA/P you might like to have a look at the Lamb thread....
  9. and with the hits doing the hits40uk chart - cant even be bothered recording the run down now as its gonna ve the same stuff down the bottom every week - tho thought London-Centric mejja types in hoxton and shoreditch would be a help to Goldfrapp/Portishead - tho it might be an ageist thing i would guess the trendy mejja types would be about 40 max - havent heard all of third yet - but from like stuff like machine gun - but i guess that 100th Window was 3d's attempt??
  10. do you know Strut Records? they do compilations full of stuff like 70s Nigerian funk, ZE Records and Italio-Disco...well i got the Compass Point album for £3.99 the other week - and its a great compliation of cool stuff featuring those taxi gang maestros sly and robbie (and obv was very pleased that it was £3.99 as well) http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2156/2244139581_579dff80cc.jpg but yeah - would be good to have some one like Grace Jones in the top 75 - esp since the Donna Summer album didnt do much over here...and think its good to have iconic disco divas somewhere (those around the age of 57 but not inc. Madge) in the chart...esp if they still have a 'Studio 54' glammour and grace is a very cool artist...and Grace obv is slightly a better class than either a vocodered Cher or a Liza Minnelli disco revival  - the single is very cool and yeah very massive attack tho i guess seeing as tricky and bjork havent had top 75 single success recently - there is not much hope for the single - we'll have to put up with onerepublic and nickelback for another week - tho the album might get that kinda dedicated demographic (similar to those buying Sparks - lil beethoven - but not glam rock sparks fans if you see what i mean) out into buying it
  11. W7Zjp2-zTCA Pity 'Council Estate' didn't follow Portishead's Machine Gun into the lower reaches of the top 75 - but will be good to have Tricky back in the UK top 75 albums chart...esp since his last - Vulnerable didnt really do much and this Domino release is supposed to be much much better
  12. and was gone in about 5 weeks from the chart...which even tho i hated the record - was a good old fashioned chart run
  13. thought unfortunately a year later Eternal teamed up with BeBe Winans - and released i wanna be the only one - a record so bad that you wish you could put 2 faced in that slot instead  (ow! ow!) WsVYEfk6ZNQ btw arent the Saturdays like Girls Aloud both signed to Polydors pop offshoot label called Fascination...and isnt it true that most of the staff are like former editors from TOTP magazine...including the bloke who invented the Baby Spice, Posh Spice, Ginger Spice naming idea - the idea which he knicked from a Smash Hits magazine feature with Rita-rocking-pop-punks We've Got A Fuzzbox and we're gonna use it???? 14. It may not be getting as many plays as coldplay or duffy but the Kooks Shine On is still getting 786 plays on all the radio stations according to Nielsen Music Control.... but why? it sounds like something that was tossed off in 5 minutes to make up numbers...and even Pritchard sounds like he cant be bovvered with it either - sounds really bored with it as well  now i think even if you were to get Bez's Madchester Anthems and play the House of Love's Shine On*** 786 times back to back it would still sound better than a few minutes in the comapny of the kooks.... cnzKGQJ-DpI HOUSE OF LOVE - Shine On OXOgRvj76zI HOUSE OF LOVE - Christine ***if you dont like the house of love then it probs will work with anything off Bez's Madchester Anthems (well apart from the one that goes HnahnahardcoreUProar )....tho Bowie's Life On Mars would probs stand up to 786 continuous plays better  - now i wonder if there's a radio station like that - would take wyatting to another level... http://www.worldinmotion.net/neworder/discography/compilations/2006/bez.jpg ueUOTImKp0k
  15. couldnt decide - so given it to Black Kids - just to even things out
  16. this is Secret Machines - Ten Silver Drops it has 8 tracks on it and is all the better for it...no flabby filler http://carloogle.files.wordpress.com/2008/02/secret_machines-tensilverdrops.jpg find a lot of albums to go on to much into mediocracy - esp when theres like 14 or 15 tracks to sit thru and with deluxe edition it normally worse - as with added bonus content a lot of the time its obv why they are bonus tracks...
  17. yeah they were playing it in hmv too ... actually sounds alright...and think 10 tracks is a good size...Secret Machines - Ten Silver Drops has 8 and is all the better for it...no flabby filler http://carloogle.files.wordpress.com/2008/02/secret_machines-tensilverdrops.jpg

Travis - J.Smith is #1 in the indie singles chart - even tho its limited edtion on vinyl - still was expecting it to chart briefly at the bottom of the 75 - tho obv people are still downloading Snow Patrol's chasing cars instead....who along with coldplay have kinda pushed Travis to one side...not quite on that level where there only option is a support slot with del amitri - and at least a step up from athlete...but i don't think we'll be seeing a #1 in the indie charts being upscaled to a viva la vida #1 single success....when the new album is released.... Chinese Blues J Smith Something Anything Long Way Down Broken Mirror Last Words Quite Free Get Up Friends Song To Self btw even tho Travis (emerging kinda pre-coldplay at the end of the britpop era) could be said to be one of the first in this wave of this type of faucet-rock...and that nobody needs to listen to 'Why Does It Always Rain on Me?' again - actually ended up buying the last album cheap for this 'great lost' pop song..... http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/85/SelfishJeanCover.jpg thinking with this (and with remembering driftwood) - actually slightly better than i had marked them down as....(and yeah not as boring as the prospect of yet another chart week for C Cars)
  19. think that at the speed interest in bands like these ebbs and flows and that there there always is that 'nme-fueled' hunger for the newest more trandsetting act on the scene...think apart from a few Aussies in Walkabout Islington...think like the Datsuns, Silvershair and the new album by the Dandy Warhols nobody will be that bothered as they've got MGMT and Fleet Foxes to be in awe of ...and the album will do less than Vision Valley...which got to about 71 when it was released over here...and will get about a 3/10 in the nme
  20. and also Julian Velard - Jimmy Dean and Steve Mcqueen...but then again thats not hard   btw Music Week a few wks agao - thinks that this could actually be a chart topper
  21. yeah it was a good version...(tho some indie purists would have perhaps had views of 'indie band do indie classic' seeing as Feeder are signed to the Chrysalis Group and PiL were signed to Virgin...which might be seen to be Minor-Major rather than indies...but then again one of the shows was about Island Records and another Katie Melua... ) was that tape also promoted endlessly on the music channels by sinetta as well???? btw this is the recent sinetta promoted on the hits tripple cd album from smash hits - and its good to see that among all the awful synthpop disasters like Oakey & Moroder that there was a kinda psych-folk vibe going on in the 80s and that such things as Grand Drive and the Champions of the World would famous in the 1980s as well   Smash Hits CD track listing from the hmv website: disc 1 Listen 1. Well for one i actually didn't say that Team Water Polo sound like Franz - i said it kinda "struck me as just a variation of what franz ferdinand does" - actually ref to the 'Do you wanna, do, do you wanna know?' and the 'Well do ya, do ya, do ya wanna, Well do ya, do ya, do ya wanna' - and seeing that i was sitting in my mums car listening to xfm - and seeing that daytime xfm mostly gets to the point where it all merges into one + with the traffic outside - think its a valid opinion for a song i heard only once some weeks ago... E_Du9g3nXy0 team water polo - letting go... g6Qvu5OUYoQ Franz Ferdinand - Do You Want To actually had this on the other night - i think this is on the moshi moshi b-side comp - actually thought it was better...
  24. So did anyone buy the Independents Day 2008 album?
