Well it IS the OCC’s fault that that’s their system instead of them just crediting the more popular version (which they must be able to do now as I remember on the Sales report for the week Wellerman debuted, it stated the proportion of chart sales the remix got over the original cover) cause I don’t think the label cares too much most of the time, but it does lead to hilarious incidents like today when Jack Saunders told MK directly (iirc) that Dior was his first top 5 hit and a couple seconds later MK references his extremely popular mix of Push The Feeling On that WAS a top 5 hit! But a lot of people forget it was his CD mix that contained the iconic version as he’s not credited on the chart database. He’s only got about half the accredited uk year end hits that he should have because of this kind of thing

MK has been insanely screwed over by occ not crediting remixes. His first “official” top 5 hit is technically his third as it was his remixes of Push The Feeling On, Look Right Through and My Head Is A Jungle that hit the top 5 in their respective years
  3. Amazed Who has a serious chance of missing the mid year mark!
  4. No new peak for Revolving Door this week?
  5. Yes it is, but that's also why the frequency of songs that have been number one for >2 months has increased massively since streaming was added. Even if Ordinary doesn't take Adams' record, I'd be surprised if something else doesn't over the next 10 years
  6. Tbh Bryan Adams getting the record will always be more impressive because even if the charts were incredibly weak back in 1991, it was still at a time when people had to go to shops and spend money on the individual record. Warren's lead and streaming numbers are impressive, but it won't be as impressive if he takes the record because the method of consumption is so much easier for people to do and so vastly different. I wonder if both songs will end up holding the same reputation too lol. Ordinary is the best song on Warren's album and better than Everything I Do, but I wouldn't mind if it similarly goes down as one of the most despised hits of the decade!
  7. Did Nokia and The Giver not reach new peaks this week?
  8. think you might’ve forgot Show Me Love? Was that the other debut this week?
  9. Is Burning Down meant to be DCL-3 instead of DCL-1? It was DCL-2 the previous week.
  10. I've been ordering this list by the dates of the songs releases, and with What Is This Feeling now gone, May 2024 overtakes November 2024 for the month with the most releases on this list with 9! (Not Like Us, 360, I Had Some Help, Stargazing, WILDFLOWER, BIRDS OF A FEATHER, Pink Skies, Messy and Carry You Home). Amazing that this crazy month for popular music is still responsible for so much of 2025's hit music consumption Speaking of which, I'm surprised Don't Stop Me Now is still in!
  11. I think the previous week positions are incorrect for this week Julian
  12. Do we think Someone You Loved will fall off soon? It’s not been on the Spotify Top 200 for a lot of this year, which hasn’t happened before
  13. 2014, cause even if the music wasn't the best it was really fun trying to predict the number 1 each week from where pre-orders were charting on iTunes, although it was definitely more fun in the first half of the year compared to the second.
  14. Laughed so hard when I saw that "K?tchen" was autocorrected to that :D
  15. Hey everyone! 2024 was a big year for chart sales, and with a year end list that is increasingly made up of old songs, I fancied the arduous task of estimating the 100 biggest song RELEASES of 2024. It was difficult, but I enjoyed taking the time to try and find the best estimates I could possibly get, even if I had to go to very convoluted ways to get some of these chart sales. I wasn’t particularly interested in estimating sales for the songs that made the official year end list, so I’ve just copied Julian T’s sales estimates for those. The order of the remaining 41 songs were determined by pulling from sources alongside Julian T’s revealed sales estimates, and include music week figures, educated guesses and weekly chart positions, genre charts and comparing % change of streams on Spotify. There were 107 songs released in 2024 that achieved a silver certification by the end of the 2024 tracking year, which helped a lot. I’m way more certain of the sales estimates for some songs (e.g. APT.) over others (e.g. Angel of My Dreams). In particular, I'm not confident with a lot of the tracks that were only successful in the UK, not placed under any genre charts, or from The Tortured Poets Department (which have 13 songs on this list!). If you have any queries or think you have a more accurate sales figure than I have, please let me know. 1. 1,787,000 Beautiful Things – Benson Boone 2. 1,755,000 Espresso – Sabrina Carpenter 3. 1,466,000 Too Sweet - Hozier 4. 1,335,000 A Bar Song (Tipsy) – Shaboozey 5. 1,224,000 BIRDS OF A FEATHER – Billie Eilish 6. 1,206,000 Good Luck, Babe! – Chappell Roan 7. 1,146,000 Please Please Please – Sabrina Carpenter 8. 1,013,000 Stargazing – Myles Smith 9. 958,000 TEXAS HOLD ‘EM – Beyonce 10. 910,000 I Had Some Help – Post Malone & Morgan Wallen 11. 845,000 I like the way you kiss me – Artemas 12. 810,000 Fortnight – Taylor Swift & Post Malone 13. 807,000 Scared To Start – Michael Marcagi 14. 794,000 Taste – Sabrina Carpenter 15. 753,000 we can’t be friends – Ariana Grande 16. 740,000 Houdini – Eminem 17. 738,000 Belong Together – Mark Ambor 18. 684,000 MILLION DOLLAR BABY – Tommy Richman 19. 681,000 Slow It Down – Benson Boone 20. 655,000 Kisses – BL3SS, CamrinWatsin & bbyclose 21. 653,000 Alibi – Rudimental & Ella Henderson 22. 633,000 Die With A Smile – Bruno Mars & Lady Gaga 23. 632,000 I Can Do It With A Broken Heart – Taylor Swift 24. 622,000 Not Like Us – Kendrick Lamar 25. 607,000 yes, and? UK Rap will likely have a better year than this year - might get a couple Jerk songs charting. Central Cee will continue his success streak with 1 or 2 big single releases but outside of him the UK Drill sound will be close to nonexistent “Afro”house will spawn a couple big hits Far more of this years YE top 40 sticks around to make the year end list than compared to last year Continued domination of Country music - if Morgan Wallen drops an album I wouldn’t be surprised if it produces 1 or 2 year end songs Drake doesn’t touch the weekly top 50 Sabrina Carpenter may release an EP that produces at least one more huge hit I don’t know if Taylor is planning to release another Taylor’s version but if she does, one of the songs will debut at number 1 The US rap that crosses over will be more likely to be inspired by West Coast sounds thanks to Not Like Us’ success. Playboi Carti will have an even bigger year than this year too Dave releases his third album and even if it’s big it’s reception won’t be as warm as the first two. Also the charts will likely be even more stagnant than this year, who could prompt an occ rule change
