We’ve predicted the U.K. opening sales & chart position so now let’s do it for the US. I think the chart position is probably obvious but what about sales? Just to remind you of first week sales: Red (Taylor’s version): 605,000 album equivalent units in November 2021 Fearless (Taylor’s version): 291,000 album equivalent units in April 2021 Evermore TS9: 329,000 album equivalent units in December 2020 Folklore TS8: 846,000 album equivalent units in July 2020 Lover TS7: 867,000 album equivalent units in August 2019 Reputation TS6: 1.2 million album equivalent units in November 2017

I’d love it if you were right - can you imagine. But… I feel it will fall short and so similar Lover numbers despite 869 different formats …

So I read in the guardian that Midnights ‘marks an official return to “pop”’ Is that confirmed or they are just guessing? Or maybe it is obvious idk.

A week to go until the release. 18 votes 10 think it will debut at #1 and 8 at #2. The most common sales prediction is 60 - 69,000 Only time will tell. As for the US? Surely #1 but how many sales?! Lover sold 679,000 units in its debut week while Reputation sold 1.2 million units. With no lead single, who knows…

That’s great news that she’s going on Graham Norton. Hope it’s the first of many promos ;) I don’t think we can compare this release with Red TV. It was already a huge album and a re-release. I’m guessing if there was going to be a single drop we’d already know about it? I miss the days of the album buildup with single releases, videos etc

I agree it’s got some hype. But I’m thinking more in terms of generating the hype needed with the general public to get it to number one over the arctic monkeys. A lead single next Friday would definitely be the best option.

With the release of Midnights on the 21st October & the rumour of a lead single coming as soon as this week, I thought I’d start this poll to see if anyone has any thoughts or predictions about the kind of sound midnights is going to present? Will Taylor continue in the Folk theme? Honestly I don’t think so… What do you think? And what would be your ideal sound? Edit: this was meant to come out as a poll. Haha. They’re not cheap either ! I haven’t gone quite as crazy as you – not even close. I’ve pre ordered: The original CD Jade Green CD Moonstone Blue CD (with Hand Signed Photo) I wish I could sack off the original CD and get a Blood Moon version but I looked at the returns policy and it’s complicated and I cba. And I also can’t bring myself to buy a 4th CD when the reality is I’ll probably just Spotify the album anyway
