I reckon LadBaby will drop out the top 100 this week.
  2. I hope Asian Dub Foundation charts...I wonder if it it might chart similarly to the songs released to mark Brexit earlier in the year - Ode to Joy and that awful Dominic Frisby song. The former was number 30, while Frisby managed 43. But Stewart Lee does have a decent fanbase, so who knows? As for LadBaby, despite all the hype and press, he wasn't even in the top 100 on the streaming chart: https://www.officialcharts.com/charts/audio-streaming-chart/ So I think he will once again crash down the chart.
  3. I know it's just the iTunes chart, so not representative of overall consumption...but how is Feliz Navidad ahead of those 2 classics?
  4. It doesn't matter which of the 3 I vote for; I just wish it was an actual decent song that will last beyond the season. Some novelty songs like Bob the Builder went on to sell a million copies, for example, and even Mr Blobby is a track that, if it were to be played at a Christmas disco, would bring a few smiles. Novelty songs like the LadBaby efforts...they have MASSIVE first week sales, but neither of the first 2 have sold over 200k. The 2nd one went from #1, to #57, then out. Generally, I'd say that if you get the Christmas Number One, but even with all the publicity that gets you, you still can't manage a second week in the top 20...then it can't be a great song, y'know?
  5. He has neglected his first 4 (or 5) children, so I am sure that this song won't do anywhere near as much damage as he himself does.
  6. Mad thinking that these 3 songs were at one point top of the biggest sales week of the year, but now aren't available digitally at all. Band Aid II appeared on Spotify for the first time this year - surely these would pick up enough streams to make it worthwhile for the rights owners?
  7. Artists who were once competing for Christmas Number 1, now doing a duet with each-other to try and get the Christmas Number 1...has this ever been done before? Or is this a little bit of history?
  8. I imagine LadBaby will have much more of a fight to get number 1 this time, surely the sales are going to be lower year-on-year? Also, each of his songs has had parody artwork that is unrelated to the artist - first year it was Buble, then The Beatles, now Queen. So that's why it looks like Queen, but it is definitely based on Journey!

The Portraits - Together In Electric Dreams.
  10. Strictly: 13 Christina Perri - A Thousand Years 17 Metallica - Enter Sandman 54 Yazoo - Only You 143 Will Smith - Gettin' Jiggy Wit It
  11. Just 6 sales left to find!
  12. She just got to number one with 4000 pure sales...I honestly don't think we will see many acts moving up much higher in terms of traditional sales, even with the Christmas boost.
  13. 1 physical sale between #60 and #70...crazy. It makes me want to release a CD single just to get myself in the chart!
  14. ....I had no idea this was still a thing! I know that only chart geeks will really care, but I would be interested to know how many CD singles someone has to sell to reach #1, or even to make the chart at all!
  15. I do wonder how much longer the download chart will be a thing. I mean, they don't produce a physical singles chart, because no-one releases CD singles anymore...I know downloads are slightly different, as I can imagine that paid downloads will always be a thing, but I can only imagine how few downloads you need to make the top 100.
  16. Boney M - Mary's Boy Child Harry Belafonte - Mary's Boy Child Both sold over 1 million copies in the UK, and the former was at one point the top selling Christmas song in the UK.
  17. I listened to this version recently, I don't think it has aged well. I am surprise to see that it is still the highest charting version of the song, but I expect Justin to pass it this year. Just listened to Gary Glitter's song...I didn't realise this was by him. It's a great Christmas song. I wonder if anyone has covered it...

A fair few charity singles and/or novelty number 1s! These are not even on Spotify as it stands: Sam & Mark, Girls Aloud vs Sugababes, X Factor Finalists 2011 Very surprised to see Daniel Bedingfield on there, that song felt massive at the time!
  19. She has really nailed the "Christmas Eve" specific market, though. It's the perfect song for the day before Christmas, I imagine it gets a ton of streams on the 24th each year!
  20. 911 NEW billy blond - Long Cold Christmas I know it's not massive, but I am glad a few people are appreciating this new tune!
  21. I think that is why the OCC hasn't released an up to date list since 2017, because they know the calculations were so far wide of the mark. Bieber had 2 songs that had combined sales of over 2 million, despite being only 2 years old. Sheeran had a similar scenario, despite the fact that in the history of the chart, no artist previously had sold more than 2 million of 2 separate songs! For them to having been listed as having done so within a couple of years of release was laughable. As is the fact that Shape of You had more combined sales than Bohemian Rhapsody, a song that has been racking up sales since 1975.
  22. Spiceworld didn't make the top 100 when released on Vinyl earlier this year, so it feels like a tough ask...best of luck with it, though!
  23. Does anyone have any idea how high the other CIN songs sold?
  24. I imagine they will be looking to see if it can do top 10 in the Scottish charts!
  25. Why has Cannon and Ball re-entered? I know it was really high after Bobby Ball died earlier in the month, was their a tribute show or something?
