  1. I have just looked on an official Spotify playlist of Christmas songs - there are 41, including tracks by Leona Lewis, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Sam Smith, Matt Terry, Sia...all recently released. Robbie Williams will have a major Christmas album this year, and Liam Payne has released a Christmas song this year, as that's also in said playlist. I think that as many artists release Christmas music as they ever did, to be honest. They just don't have the same status as the classics, because the other songs have 30 years of Christmas memories behind them!

Quite surprised to see The Man at #8!
  3. I am surprised Queen's Thank God It's Christmas hasn't done better this year, after how well Bohemian Rhampsody did.
  4. 14 WE WILL ROCK YOU FIVE & QUEEN 1 2000 15 WE WILL ROCK YOU QUEEN N/A 1977 This is a travesty. I also have no idea how the Queen version of We Will Rock You has never charted. I know it wasn't a single, but even so, it's iconic.
  5. Why is the Children In Need single sung by someone who hasn't had a hit for 10 years? They used to get big, current artists. Interesting decision.

I mean, the John Lewis advert song didn't break the top 10 the last 3 years. So that's unlikely. The new rules have made me far less excited or interested. It's not a popularity chart anymore. It's a "which current song is best at marketing?" competition.

As my favourite artist ever, I have been wait for Billie Jean to cross 1 million sales for a while...has it done it officially now? It feels like it must have if the 1.4m figure is correct.
  8. "Shove in our face" It only has 45,000 views. Bit of an exaggeration.
  9. It hasn't been officially released, which is very surprising. It would do really well.
  10. I hope Cesar Sampson can have some sort of impact. He was great.
  11. There have been 7 series of The Voice UK. In terms of solo releases, The Voice UK contestants have had a grand total of 2 top 10 singles - both covers - and 2 top 10 albums. The last artist to get a top 10 album was Andrea Begley, back in 2013. There have been so many incredible acts on the show through the years - Bo Bruce, Vince Kidd, Leah McFall, Stevie McCrorie, Mo Jamil...then there is Kevin Simm, who had success before he went on The Voice UK. His lack of success after the show (his album missed the top 100) can't be down to the artist, surely, as he has a proven track record. So what is the point of the supposed "coveted record deal", when it doesn't even equate to 5000 album sales for most of the winners?
  12. I am referring to if it is from a seller who has an eBay shop, which stocks 100s of CDs. I was just curious.
  13. Mo Jamil doing surprisingly well. It's a good song, hopefully he breaks the Voice UK winner's curse.
  14. Nooooo, I was talking about original songs, so not including covers! :P I know they won't sell 100,000+, but the likes of Steve Brookstein and Leon Jackson never charted in the top 100 with an original song.
  15. It's crazy that Grace and Rak-Su will probably have already sold more copies of an original song than numerous previous X Factor winners.
  16. Justin Bieber at #10?! Eugh. Also, surely Michael Jackson's Thriller can't be too many Halloween's away from passing 1 million? I am bemused it hasn't already.
  17. It'll be interesting to see if any of them manage to chart after the "You Decide" show tonight. Our entry last year only reached number 81, so I don't hold out much hope!

I think in this climate, 100,000 sales is pretty much a hit. But that number will differ person to person!
  19. It's more likely to go even further. I wouldn't be surprised if one artist went for 1, 2, and 3.
  20. I seriously hope she flops. I can't believe they chose to promote her single in the final instead of a genuinely talented former contestant like James Arthur, Louisa Johnson, or tons of others.
  21. They did the same with Jedward. Releasing it so soon after the end of the show is an indicator of how much staying power they believe Honey G will have. She won't get a 2nd top 100 song.
  22. His Wikipedia lists at as being Gold, whereas the number 20 album on the list is apparently only Silver. So he has done, but he's been omitted for some reason...
  23. Joe McElderry's Classic Christmas album was certified Gold; Wikipedia says it has 115,000 albums sold. Why compile a list if you aren't going to make it accurate? *rolls eyes*
  24. "Hallelujah This relatively Christmassy Leonard Cohen cover from Alexandra Burke holds the distinction of being The X Factor's most successful winner's single of them all" Surely James Arthur's Impossible has overtaken her?
  25. The last original Christmas song was Cliff Richard's Saviour's Day, back in 1990.
