Congratulations ( sort of ) to Alex Warren as Ordinary is the UKs most popular song for a record equaling 18th week.
Golden by Huntr/X / Ejae / Audrey Nuna / Rei Ami number 1 tonight on SCR sales of 42,853.
Ordinary by Alex Warren number 9 on ACR sales of 25,438 but if still on SCR, it's sales would be 49,590.

The latest Now album is out - volume 121 - but it will have an uphill fight to top the compilation chart.
The last 3 Now albums have sold 10,008 , 9,759 ad 8,998 on their opening week.
The current number 1 , K-Popp Demon Hunters, has increased its sales every week so far and had 14,465 sales last week.

Pink Pony Club - Chappell Roan (28), Wonderwall - Oasis (27), Illegal - Pink Pantheress (25), Can’t Decide - Max Dean / Locky / Luke Dean (24), Love Me Not - Ravyn Lenae (20), No Broke Boys - Disco Lines / Tinashe (12), Beautiful Things - Benson Boone (11) Daisies - Justin Bieber (1)
surely Paranoid by Black Sabbath at 32 deserves a play instead of songs that have been around forever like Beautiful Things.
Could even dig out the Pops performance from September 1970 and show that.

We have just had the provisional schedule for the 25th July and the 1998 shows continue at 7pm
:
7pm - 20th February - Jo Whiley ( Happy 60th Birthday today Jo !! )
7.30pm - Jayne Middlemiss
There will then be a Prom at 8pm and the retro hour from 9.40pm.
Hopefully that will be the pattern from now on during Prom season - according to my calculations, BBC4 can finish 1998 on the week before Christmas if there are no more breaks.

In 1997 a record ( at the time ) 21 songs go straight in at number 1.
Too Much was the 88th song to debut at number 1 in UK chart history.
There were 213 songs going straight into the top 10 in 1997 beating the 1996 record of 176.
How different things are in the streaming era when we have only had 18 son gs go straight into the top 10 after 5 months of 2025.
