We need Rein Me In to drop to 11 this Friday then return to the top 10 at the end of the month for a 7th time before the Christmas takeover.

I heard Wham! for the first time this year on Saturday. I was in Greggs and they had either Capital or Heart playing in store. Doesn't feel right with nearly 6 weeks to go.

There is a statement from the OCC in the sales report when Joseph posts it.

Why would Jack lie ? Unless he was practising for the next series of Traitors !!

The first ever UK chart was dated the 14th November 1952 so Happy 73rd Birthday to the UK Singles Chart !!

The OCC say it was due to Grammy nomination for Album of the Year

Mariah Carey at 57 and Wham! at 58. Will Jack be playing either or both on Friday night ?!

No sign of any Christmas songs for probably a couple more weeks, however over on the Commercial Radio Big Top 40 they have a Christmas new entry at number 4: Angel On The Tree by Sam Clegg.

I still love Elizabeth Taylor - glad it's still top 10

Haven up 45 places.

Ordinary will be back in the new year after the Christmas clearout.

Very quiet on here so far !!

BBC4 showed the Saturday late night repeat of the 19th Sept show at 1am this morning which included T-Spoon singing Sex On The Beach instead of a repeat of Steps. Kate also did a separate intro to mention T-Spoon. It's on i-player.

21 weeks in the top 40 and Jack still can't stop talking over the intro !!

Our usually reliable friend on twitter/X is saying that if we had a Thursday update, then Mariah Carey would be number 80 and Wham! number 92.

Wham! probably just outside the top 100 - denied by all the Halloween songs.

Lots of prep for Joseph ahead of Friday's chart !!

So is Ghostbusters still to come ?

The Subway up 57 places from 77 to 20.

Thriller number 1 contender !!

50th top ten week if you are right !!

Surely Thriller will be high in today's first look. It has already had a reset, and with Halloween being on Friday, that surely will help it chart high tonight.

In your summary of the 5th September, you say this about the Manics "and is now the longest titled chart topper ever if you exclude parenthesised singles". It actually equals the longest number 1 song title without brackets set by Bombalurina. If you include brackets, its the joint 3rd longest number 1 title: 45 - San Francisco ( Be Sure To Wear Some Flowers In Your Hair ) - Scott McKenzie ( 1967 ) 43 - I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing ( In Perfect Harmony ) - New Seekers ( Jan 1972 ) 39 - Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini - Bambalurina ( 1990 ) 39 - If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next - Manic Street Preachers ( 1998 ) 37 - Matchstalk Men and Matchstalk Cats and Dogs - Brian and Michael ( 1978 ) 37 - When The Going Gets Tough The Tough Get Going - Billy Ocean ( 1986 ) 36 - ( There's ) Always Something There To Remind Me - Sandie Shaw ( 1964 ) 36 - There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart ) - Eurythmics ( 1985 ) 35 - What Do You Want To Make Those Eyes At Me For - Emile Ford and the Checkmates ( 1959 )

I make it that Golden is the 7th song to have 3 goes at number 1 in the same chart run. I am sure jimwatts will correct me if I have missed any out but here is my list 1953 - I Believe - Frankie Laine 1957 - Singing The Blues - Guy Mitchell 2013/4 Happy - Pharrell Williams 2015 - What Do You Mean - Justin Bieber 2017 - Despacito - Luis Fonsi / Daddy Yankee 2020 - Blinding Lights - The Weeknd 2025 - Golden - Huntr/x , Ejae , Audrey Nuna , Rei Ami

Mr Alex Warren overtakes Mr Acker Bilk !
