ed Sheeran will do anything to be No.1 but as other artists will tell you over exposure yourself and the public will soon get tired of you and move on to the next star.

Wham! have taken a nice combined lead over Mariah could Wham! overtake Mariah in a year or two as the UK's fave Christmas song, it did make No.1 on Christmas Day last year on Spotify.

Is Chris Rea on any playlists this year last year he was removed on Dec 23 from Spotify and I looked and Spotify the other day and could only see it from his albums. It is usually a lot higher in the list.

Some acts are happy to make music and don't care about chart positions clearly Ed has decided he likes chart positions and fame and he has the right management team and record company to achieve this I mean Simon Cowell couldn't have plotted this release any better. This is why I am not a fan he may write the songs and well as sing them etc but clearly as we have seen this year he knows how to release, when to release for maximum effect something other acts will probably be looking at and its not about the music anymore with Ed.

Let's get this straight the video is Christmas inspired, the song is easily adapted to make it Christmassy, make no bones about it the record company have planned this to be a song which will get played every Christmas and a nice little money spinner for Ed and them. This has been perfectly plotted and it is working to perfection (ahem) for both of them.

What might be surprising is how Wham! has overtaken The Pogues as the No.2 Christmas song in the UK, even before George Michael's death it had crept ahead by Christmas Day last year.

1 Dec 2016 Mariah Carey was No.6 The Pogues at No.18 Wham! at No.24 so there has been a huge surge this December 1st this year. 1 Dec 2015 Mariah Carey was No.20 The Pogues were at No.49 Wham! were at No.51

What does it matter if its males or females why do people have this ridiculous obsession with wanting female artists over male artists. At the end of the day it's the song that matters.

Spotify Monthly Chart Thread [08/17]
So basically people don't listen to songs they like on spotify they only listen to the song which is No.1 on every playlist, if this is the case and Pink can't climb because she is on position 40 it shows the charts are not reflecting the artist or song, just what position Spotify decided someone should be. People are not going on Spotify to listen to Taylor Swift or Pink! they are just putting on the first thing that comes to hand on a playlist. So Spotify shouldn't count towards the main chart as unlike i-tunes where you specifically buy that song on Spotify the views do not necessarily mean the person listening likes the song they are just putting on a playlist because they can't be arsed to search. If spotify dropped the playlist and just had a search function the chart would look much different wouldn't it?

I only mentioned it as she is a British act.

Bonnie Tyler number one in US i-tunes thanks to the eclipse I don't think I have ever heard a more ridiculous reason for a song going to No.1

At some point every artist/act starts to fall out of favour as people grow up and the next generation looks for its own style, spice girls, beatles, whoever no one can stay at the top forever. Maybe Bieber has just over exposed his vocals and people are fed up now with him and his same style 2016 was his peak year now bring on the new, I can only hope it happens to Sean Paul as well.

For unfashionable act who had not had a hit for 15 years to release a song with no publicity and go to no.1 for 2 days on i-tunes is hardly a flop the song spent three months in the i-tunes top 75 including many weeks in the top 10 when they did a publicity drive and it debutes in the top 10 of the sales chart. Hardly a flop it was only streaming that let it down.

Crushing? 0.6918 over the number 2 isn't really crushing, crushing would be 0.10 -0.20 and he isn't number 1 in Ireland, Australia or New Zealand either, though in most of mainland Europe it seems to have had an instant impact. Maybe we are seeing a change in musical taste and Bieber's followers are growing up and the new music virgins have there own style of music.

P!nk! is at no.58

Why are older acts now doing well on i-tunes?
With the recent successes on i-tunes of P!nk, The Script, Steps and Enrique are older acts becoming more acceptable in the download/streaming era or is there a clear divide between i-tunes and spotify. Is i-tunes now dated and mainly being used by maturer audiences and not attracting many new buyers who prefer streaming? Is spotify a younger person's game and why do people seem reluctant to stream the higher the demographic? If p!nk, the script and Enrique can conquer i-tunes why do acts like Olly Murs, Kylie Minogue and others still struggle to sell or stream. Are p!nk and the script just taking advantage of low sales and it is a false picture seeming them in the top 10?

This is a proper slow burner I have read a few comments from people who say I never liked Louis but heard this and can't stop listening to it again and a few people who relate to the lyrics of going back again and again to the same person. They need to get back to UK and perform on One Show or something like that to make it really explode.
