  1. Answerphone, Plug Walk, Walk It Talk It & Vroom would all be welcome in the Top 50! Nice to see Nines doing well too, his song is produced by Steel Banglez and sounds good.
  2. This is currently far below 'Not Letting Go' in terms of Jess Glynne-featuring pop-rap summer songs.
  3. My mate who dislikes Cardi B rates 'Be Careful'. I reckon that'll be a hit.
  4. Here's a bumper update for April! ASAP Rocky ft. BlocBoy JB - Bad Company eQsAT0vIRaE Different direction from ASAP but upbeat, funky and catchy! AJ Tracey - Mimi LopA29YhBY0 London rapper AJ Tracey returns with a more melodic offering to his previous output. Feel this is leaning towards the mainstream more and not as strong as 'Buster Cannon' or 'Blacked Out' but still rate this! Col3trane ft. Ebenezer - Language 86dx0hCN1lY A smooth R&B track from Col3trane, this has been receiving heavy support from 1Xtra and considering the infectious melodies here it's not hard to see why! dvsn - Morning After baxImKUepXM Signed to Drake's OVO Label, Canadian R&B duo dvsn recently dropped their debut mixtape, from which this was the standout track. Recommended for fans of Majid Jordan or Roy Woods. mishlawi - All Night mTQOzfcdZpQ One of my favourite songs right now! Got an Amine/GoldLink vibe to it, it's got a real earworm beat and smooth lyrics. Mishlawi seems like an artist to keep an eye on. Rich the Kid - Plug Walk ToY6sjSV8h8 In the Top 10 on US Spotify (no mean feat these days) is this offering from Rich the Kid, who's debut album was released a few weeks ago. Spaced out beat and simple, but catchy lyrics. Probably won't be a hit here, but will in America and already playlisted on 1Xtra and Capital Xtra. WSTRN ft. Tiwa Savage and Mr Eazi - Love Struck 07rVIVkKA58 Finally, we have the latest single from WSTRN which features a strong African flavour. Their sound has evolved since 'In2' and the choice of Tiwa Savage and Mr Eazi as feature artists seems inspired considering their status in popular African music right now. This feels like it'll be a Spring favourite in the underground scene.

Think this will go Top 20, had a very good start!
  6. It's very generic but it's been growing on me recently!
  7. I think the video for 'Nice For What' further cements Drake's place at the top of the game! Must feel very empowering for women. Every major single release from him now feels like an event and the videos especially.
  8. I'm coming round to the Ne-Yo song and liking 'Freaky Friday' and 'Favourite Girl' too! Surprised that song from the Cardi B album has been playlisted, would have thought 'Be Careful' would have been chosen.

  10. Definitely! Just a quick glance through the list of Top 10s in 2012 proves that. A lot of it seems like disposable EDM-Guetta pop.

I actually found 'God's Plan' more instant than this, but I reckon this will sound great in the sun! Sounds like FIFA music too  I don't think it'll do quite as well as God's Plan.
  12. Swimming Pools is better remembered than half the Top 10 hits released in the same year!
  13. https://www.theguardian.com/music/2018/apr/...odern-superstar As claimed in the article above. I think his holds more credibility than Ed Sheeran does, so while he's probably not the biggest I can support the argument that he is the definitive pop star of this generation. The article raises some good points but what does everyone else think?
  14. Come through Drake! A song like One Dance or Passionfruit to rule the summer please.

Yeah I can see this being big, got an earworm of a chorus. Perhaps a similar trajectory to 'Barking' and 'Jumanji'.
  16. Prefer 'Bad Company' to this but still a tune! Looking forward to the album.
  17. I wish it was 'Loyal' that would have gone to #1 but this is an enjoyable track in its own right. However, it is definitely the video and novelty aspect of the song that has helped it blow up. I think I'm at the point with Chris Brown where I can enjoy a couple of his songs but the thought of listening to a whole album from him does not appeal at all.

  19. I miss dancehall Sean Paul.

'Let Me Blow Ya Mind' is not overrated. I've heard it on many nights out, always gets a reaction. A couple of 90s classics there from Mark Morrison and Luniz. Been listening to a lot of 90s music recently (Cypress Hill, A Tribe Called Quest, 2Pac, Fugees, Nas etc...) so I welcome their inclusion!
  21. I actually think the features add greater appeal to the song personally. Let's not forget after the group changes it would have been hard for M.O. to get a solo hit. The features were very well chosen, as both Lotto Boyzz and Mr Eazi are upcoming artists who have released very popular songs over the last twelve months. 'No Don' went from a song by unsigned artists to a place on the R1 playlist within six months, propelling the profile of Lotto Boyzz. These type of trajectories are the definition of success for artists like these. Mr Eazi had a big underground hit last year with 'Leg Over' which was remixed and re-released with high profile artists like French Montana and Major Lazer. They add credibility to 'Bad Vibe' and broaden its appeal. It was urban radio that supported this song from the off (video premiere on GRM Daily and instant 1Xtra support) and I would have been surprised if that had happened without the features. Remember Mabel has used Kojo Funds and Not3s on her charting hits, Stefflon Don featured French Montana on 'Hurtin 'Me' and Jorja Smith linked up with Stormzy. None of these artists have charted in the Top 40 with a solo single. Just because Lotto Boyzz and Mr Eazi haven't had hits (a subjective opinion anyway) it is hard to deny the strategic importance of their feature on this song.
  22. Thankfully wrong! We were excellent in the first half, and the third goal was a sight to behold. We should be okay, provided we get four more points from somewhere (hopefully Stoke at home). However, that shouldn't detract from the season we've had.
  23. Good to see some of the long-running songs on the A-List removed and liking the adds for The Weeknd, AJ Tracey, Mishlawi, Not3s and Rich the Kid!
  24. Agree with this! Liking the EP on first listen, reminds me of his earlier work.
  25. 'Pray For Me' got old quickly, but the last album was great and had so many highlights! Considering all the festivals he is headlining this summer it makes sense to put some new material out. Interested to hear where he goes next, always struck me as an artist prepared to innovate.
