  1. Hasn't been the way with Liverpool though? Just as they are poised to progress, they falter. Going back as far as when Houiller signed Diouf and Diao in 2002 to win Liverpool the league title... Think David Moyes deserves a lot of credit for the turn around at West Ham - a lot of people, including myself, were very sceptical about his appointment but we look an actual team now. And whatever he has done to Arnautovic should be bottled and sold to every underperforming player in the country.
  2. This is the most mid-2010s collaboration conceivable.

Glad I didn't let you down. They'd be misguided to ignore urban artists after the massive year black British music has just had, so this list is a step in the right direction.

    Because he's great...
  5. I think this will be the type of song that will be performed at an awards ceremony (the BRITs maybe?) and shoot into the Top 10. The song reminds me a little bit of 'Me, Myself & I'. I like it, but I wouldn't want a whole album of it from her (which I think will be likely).
  6. Looking forward to this, they had good chemistry on 'My Lover'. I expect this to be more poppy than 'Finder's Keepers' was, but should do well. Not3s is getting everywhere at the moment.... on the new ones from Sneakbo, GRM Daily, Steel Banglez and now this.
  7. AHDtXqjgEj4 13. Gorilla - 12 Votes 14. The Lazy Song By a substantial margin, Gorilla is the next to go. Must confess I don't remember this from the time and listening now it's not particularly memorable. Whereas I had things to say about The Lazy Song, I have almost nothing to say about this. It's okay, but I would never listen to it out of choice. Next deadline is Sunday so get voting!
  8. Very unconventional playlist update. Most of the Hot For 2018 artists released new songs in association with the announcement and they all seem to have been A-Listed! Not actually heard many of them yet. While the A-List is looking fresh, the B and C List needs more movement otherwise they could get stale. Plenty of new music around though, so shouldn't be too bad.
  9. Should have gone to Not3s or Yxng Bane, although they'll do well regardless of Radio 1 recognition I guess.
  10. Should be releasing a new single instead!
  11. Liking this on first listen, sounds very heartfelt and Stormzy compliments the song well.

I think its the success of J Hus and songs like Addison Lee and Unsigned that have allowed 'Barking' to blow up so much.

  15. fLexgOxsZu0 14. The Lazy Song (10 Votes) A few songs attracted a high number of votes in the first round, but it was the 'The Lazy Song' that managed to become Buzzjack's least favourite Bruno Mars single. I remember this being everywhere at the time, to the extent this was performed at my Year 11 Leaver's Assembly that year. It does fall slightly on the annoying side though and it can't be claimed to have aged well. However, with over a billion views on YouTube it's popularity is there for all to see. Next round closes tomorrow night, so get your votes in!
  16. A Justin Timberlake singles rate soon would be fantastic! And genuinely hard to pick a favourite too.

Should be proud though, City were excellent! Really took the game to Man City at times and more than held their own. Can't wait for the second game, the whole city will be buzzing.
  18. As a feature for 2018, I hope to keep this regularly updated with what's bubbling under in the world of urban music. This space will be primarily for songs not yet big enough to support their own discussion page and will hopefully introduce people to artists and sounds they may not have considered before. Geko - Likes That Ko9W969JDmg This caught my attention immediately. Geko has been around for a few years now and has worked with Chip, Wretch 32, WSTRN and had an underground smash hit 'Darlin' last year. Confident bars and a beat that sounds like old-school Hip-Hop alongside a hook that sticks in your head... with the advantage of sounding fresh in the context of the UK scene. Also a nice reference to 'In da Club' too. For fans of: Chip, J Hus, Not3s Mahalia - Hold On aJKUkOVKDLc Leicester based artist Mahalia is being widely tipped for success this year - making a deserved appearance on the 1Xtra 'Hot For 2018' list. This has been A-listed by the station, a very smooth R&B track with a soulful vocal. For fans of: Jorja Smith. Mabel
  19. Confirmed to be a Zane Lowe Hottest Record later this week! The song is called 'Let Me Down'.
  20. 1Xtra Hot For 2018 has been announced today! The list is: Fredo Hardy Caprio IAMDDB Kojo Funds Lotto Boyzz Mahalia Not3s One Acen Young T & Bugsey Yxng Bane Swear most of these artists were all over 1Xtra last year, but can't complain with any of these!
  21. Certainly stronger than Heartline! Of his recent material it's hard to beat the When the Bassline Drops-Nothing Like This-One More Time trio that felt both fresh and nostalgic at the same time.
  22. Exactly - at least Justin Timberlake isn't in a position where he needs more chart hits and can experiment. 'Filthy' is probably ahead of its time.
  23. Will close tonight, get your votes in!

Playlisted by R1 this week, would be goals if this snuck into the Top 40!
  25. I don't think 'Flithy' should be directly compared to 'Walk on Water' - for one Filthy is actually catchy and fresh. It's better than him releasing another version of 'Can't Stop The Feeling' to chase trends and get an easy hit. Should be encouraging A-List artists to be innovative and boundary pushing. Although a consequence of that is 'underperformance' on Spotify.
