Justin Timberlake - Filthy
I agree, I think there's loads of hooks in this!

Spotify Chart Thread 2018 [I]
It wouldn't surprise me if 'Filthy' had a lower than expected peak... as good as the song is, it's not exactly a conventional chart hit is it!! Maybe it'll peak lower then stick around for a bit. That would tally with the song being a grower for many people.

Dave - No Words (feat. MoStack)
I actually think this is very similar to 'Samantha' but with a more obvious pop hook!

BBC Radio 1Xtra Playlist
Probably due to a slower turnover of songs over the festive period - only one song being promoted to the A-List this week is evidence. It'll be up there next week I imagine!

BBC Radio 1Xtra Playlist
I imagine there'll be a bigger update next week, they've been playing 'Filthy' and 'Finesse' loads. Good adds for Cardi B, MC Floti (Brazilian funk and a banger), Skengo & AM (good to see UK drill getting support) and Sneakbo. Not sold on that WSTRN song, they've really gone hill haven't they?

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 5th January 2018
Great to see the new Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars songs in the Top 10! If R&B/Pop in 2018 continues to sound this fresh, then it could well be the dominant genre this year.

Jorja Smith - Let Me Down ft. Stormzy
Effectively already guaranteed A-List support from Radio 1 too, seeing as Jorja Smith is on the R1 Brit List.

Round 1: Least Favourite Bruno Mars Single
Voted 'It Will Rain' (never heard that or 'Young Girls'). Let's not vote 24K Magic early....

Round 1: Least Favourite Bruno Mars Single
To tie in with the release of Cardi B-assisted 'Finesse' this week, which looks a smash hit in waiting, it feels right to give Bruno Mars the 'Least Favourite Single' treatment! Established as one of the most reliable hit-makers of the decade, it leaves us with a strong discography to wittle down over the coming weeks. This closes on Monday at midnight, unless there is a runaway leader on Sunday night. Enjoy!

Jorja Smith - Let Me Down ft. Stormzy
According to Jorja Smith's Instagram and Twitter, she is dropping new material next week that features none other than Stormzy! Sounds extremely promising on paper and could be the start of a big year for her. PWXHkYMZ4LQ

Prince I reckon or Michael Jackson.

Justin Timberlake - Filthy
There's something very addictive about this, reckon everyone will be loving this in a couple of weeks.

This is a similar reaction that 'Work' got isn't it?
-
Justin Timberlake - Filthy
I like this! It'll be a hit because its Justin Timberlake, but that should detract from how this is different to anything else right now.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 5th January 2018
The new Timberlake song certainly sounds like nothing else in the chart right now... I like it! Very funky, but modern as well. I wonder if it's the start of a change in chart trends? It sounds like a more refined version of 2008-12 style songs.
-
Kendrick Lamar and SZA - "All the Stars"
Surely the size of the song will be determined by the size of the film? Film soundtracks do perform inconsistently despite the quality of the song. Remember a previous Kendrick soundtrack song 'It's On Again' with Alicia Keys? Saying that, this does sound strong. Could do well but I hope they get around to supporting 'LOVE.' at some point.
-
J Hus - Common Sense
Of the non-singles so far, 'Fisherman' is the most popular and would have done well as a single - similar to Bouff Daddy and Did You See. 'Plottin' is one of my favourites, got a 2-step garage beat which stands out on the album. 'Common Sense' has G-funk influences and sounds like a beat 50 Cent would tackle.
-
GoldLink - Crew (feat. Shy Glizzy & Brent Faiyaz)
Yeah I agree - I don't think this particular song will be a hit (although any more exposure is very deserved), but as an artist I think he has potential!
-
Ramz - Barking
Added to the Capital playlist! I do think this will be a Top 5 hit now.
-
G-Eazy feat. Cardi B & A$AP Rocky - No Limit
This is the superior G-Eazy song around at the moment, no question. All 3 artists in the original are great and the song keeps growing on me. Perfect for the Winter months.
-
G-Eazy & Halsey - Him & I
I prefer No Limit to this, but surely too early to be writing off potential chart success? People will be looking for new music soon so we'll know in a few weeks.
-
Justin Timberlake - Man of the Woods
I thought most of the album will be produced by Neptunes with a few Timbaland songs?

Predictions for music in 2018
I remember when I first joined people thought I was an Eric Blob alias because of the very similar music taste.
