CONTEST: Buzzjack's Favourite Old School Urban Anthem
'Promiscuous Girl' is fine, I would say that is urban enough! Great nominations so far! Will put all the nominations in the opening post soon, so keep those nominations coming in.

CONTEST: Buzzjack's Favourite Old School Urban Anthem
I'm aware that the R&B forum has been quiet of late, so to close out the rest of the summer we will be holding this contest to determine Buzzjack's favourite old school R&B/Urban anthem! This is the nomination round, so there are a few rules to abide by: 'Old school' is defined as any song released before and including 2012. The reason for this being that some early 10s songs have now entered 'throwback hour' on radio stations (Pass Out, Hold Yuh, Earthquake, Oliver Twist etc...)You can nominate a maximum of 10 songs, but everybody must nominate a minimum of 5 songs.Every set of submissions must contain a minimum of two male-led songs and two female-led songs. This is to ensure a diversity of gender and reflect the full spectrum of potential entries.Try to select songs from as wide a range of genres as possible. You wouldn't be penalised for submitting ten R&B songs, but it would be ideal to have the widest possible range of songs. You must contain at least one song that was not a UK Top 40 hit.Hopefully these rules will ensure a diverse, mixed and interesting set of nominations! Every song nominated will enter the semi final draw, which will be randomised, so please do not select songs that have already been nominated as this will have no impact on the later rounds! I've never attempted a song contest before in this forum, so all entries and submissions are encouraged... enjoy! Tyga ft. Offset - Taste
I remember both that and 'The Motto' having a huge cultural impact around that time, despite sounding like nothing in the charts then.

That has grown over time to be my favourite Kwabs song. Chillingly good.

So many classic songs being mentioned recently... 'Breathe' is so good and adored by so many of my generation.

DJ Khaled - Father Of Asahd
It sounds like a mix of 'I'm the One' and Natalie La Rose's 'Somebody'. The beat stuck in my head on first listen (debatable if that's good or bad). Not as instant as 'I'm the One' but that got old quickly. I suspect this will be a grower, but won't have the same impact (or be commonly remembered in years to come).

The Bieber collab has been B-Listed by Radio 1 instantly. Whether that is hype or genuine quality we will find out at midday.

DJ Khaled - Father Of Asahd
Hope the song this Friday lives up to expectations... 'I'm The One' managed to age as soon as September came along last year and 'Top Off' was a mess.

Another classic that! We had a brief DnB revival in the charts at the start of the decade, but I miss dance music like that charting (along with deep house and garage).

I think new Laura is the most attractive girl in there at the moment.

Local or International Football?
In club football it's only really West Ham that interest me (and the Bristol teams). Otherwise the relentless hype of the 'Big 6' and everything that goes with it really grates on me. Normally follow the relegation battle closer than whats going on at the top anyway! When it comes to the big matches, I only watch them if I'm with a group of mates or in the pub but don't go out my way to watch although I may follow the Guardian minute-by-minute feed. Same normally applies to European games, I'd only go out my way to watch the final. Whereas when the tournaments come round, I make an effort to watch every game possible (watched over 50 World Cup games live) and I get as excited as a kid at Christmas when a big tournament is about to begin. Love watching teams and players I have only read about and it was the 2002 World Cup that got my 7 year old self into football. Outside of the tournaments, I can give or take international games. So, I would rank them: World Cup/Euros West Ham Bristol City/Bristol Rovers Championship Premier League European football International qualifiers/friendlies

Ella Mai - Boo'd Up
One of my favourite songs this summer, sounds both fresh and retro!
-
Stefflon Don - Senseless
I went off this pretty quickly, certainly not as good as 'Hurtin Me' was.

France v Croatia - 2018 World Cup Final
Entertaining way to end what has been a brilliant World Cup! Passed all my expectations, managed to watch almost every game (except the double headers in the group stage) and I can only recall a handful of disappointing games. Certainly better than 2014, which got worse as it went on (7-1 excepted).

Crazy Cousinz ft. M.O & Yungen - Feelings (Wifey)
Feel this deserves its own thread, has grown on me a lot over the last week. Samples Tinie Tempah's underground hit 'Wifey Riddim' and I reckon this should do well! The video has dropped too: x1_0frwHcDQ

In fairness, 'Only U' is based on a sample too.

England v Croatia
Feeling tense and wouldn't surprise me if this game went to extra time. Croatia have got the classier players, especially in midfield, but I think we may just edge it. Reckon Sterling will have a big game - he's the player who worries defences the most I reckon and can run at the tired Croatian defence. This game just proves that international football is so much bigger than club football - even the Champions League. Definitely doesn't feel like 'just another game' the way the big Premier League games can do.

2018 World Cup
Of the World Cups I've seen and remembered this has got to be the best! My ranking would be: 2018 2014 (the best group stages but knockout rounds were a step down, 7-1 beside) 2010 (started terribly, but got better as it went on. Plus, England were so bad it was funny) 2002 (almost too many shock results, but the group stages were very exciting) 2006 (not bad, but not too much to remember - shame, as this was the first one I religiously followed) This has had great goals, upsets, great games (Portugal Spain, France Argentina, Brazil Belgium), barely any 0-0s and England doing well for a change.
-
Sweden v England
I'm so used to West Ham losing that a defeat rarely lingers for too long... even if I'm at the match I'll just smile ruefully and enjoy the day out. Obviously there are still a few matches where I'm a nervous wreck (usually important cup games) but even the thought of relegation doesn't have much of an effect... I've seen them in the lower leagues before and the away days are often better anyway. But with England this time, I have felt tense and emotionally invested.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 6th July 2018
You probably said this before both the Colombia and Sweden games! Think we have a fighting chance against Croatia. Also wouldn't surprise me to see a new version of Three Lions recorded depending on the events of next week.
