Personally, I haven't heard the Ariana Grande song. I think the biggest songs of the year should be unavoidable, even if you don't like them.

Insta-added to the B-List on 1Xtra this week... I'm very surprised and slightly annoyed that this looks like being a hit. Firstly, it's nothing new and there are so many better songs from this genre around right now. Why the teenage crowd are still here for Dappy I don't really understand.

Really like Boo'd Up, sounds great in the sun. Wouldn't surprise me to see it become a sleeper hit here too!

New single from one of the stars of contemporary African music Mr Eazi, who has featured on tracks with Major Lazer, M.O, Steel Banglez, Yungen and RAYE over the last year or so. It features Giggs and is called 'London Town'. Premiered on 1Xtra this evening, it sounds a sure fire hit to my ears... like a more African version of 'Lock Doh' or 'Linguo'! Love this song!! Been around a while, but I think it was only signed to a major label recently. I do agree that this has more about it than say 'Jumanji' and also still sounds like something that'd be supported on Spotify so hope this is a summer hit!

One of the leaders in UK urban music, Skepta has blessed us with a new single this week called 'Pure Water'. Those who have liked his output over the last few years will enjoy this one, as it's similar to hits like 'No Security' and 'Man (Gang)' with a sparse instrumental and heavy bars. Hyped for new material from him! (can't find a link to post, but its out now on iTunes/Spotify).

Tonight's episode was very emotional and thought-provoking. It was also totally needed to raise awareness of male mental health issues. I almost think it could have been either Aiden or David who committed suicide tonight.

Swarmz and Belly Squad are not merely the beneficiaries of 'payola'... they are both steadily growing underground urban hits. I think it's a positive that Spotify would support songs like those.

'Lyca' is one of the biggest underground songs of the year so far so not surprised to see that get support... reminds me of a Kojo Funds song! Good to see Jorja Smith, Loski and Mahalia playlisted too and double J. Cole on the A-list.
