...just ordered the rather stunning box set off her website. Still a naff cover, though

oh dear... is THIS the cover? :( I must be honest, West Coast is a mess - it sounds like about 3 songs melded into one... starting off sounding like 1970s Cure.... and then switching completely into regular Lana dreaminess.... it doesn't work. Also, she's a superb recording artist. After seeing her live on several occasions, I can officially vouch - she is absolutely not a live performer.... in any capacity.
  3. Yes, the last album she released - not her last album ever lol Great news that it's been announced she'll be gracing the Glastonbury stage on the Sunday night.
  4. I saw her on this tour and quite recently in Torquay... a lady at the absolute top of her game... and her last album? Undoubtedly her greatest ever solo release.

I managed to get 2 for the opening night and another 2 further into the run... I can't wait.....

  7. oh dear.. what a load of puffed-up right wing Tory nonsense. Ed Milliband did superbly yesterday - yes, he's an absolute fool, but that speech, an hour minus ANY notes..... inspired, whether you agreed with what he actually said or not. The sad fact is.... we have two posh chinless wonders vying for the PM position - it's a simple case of... which chinless posh boy do you dislike the most? As for all this sweeping nonsense from the member above... oh please. Rantings of a lunatic.
  8. ..that's what I mean... compiling a 'Best of 2013' list minus Pale Green Ghosts..... it's never going to be easy.

  10. James Blake to win....... I'm aghast at Bowie's nomination - if that album had been by anyone else bar him it'd be (rightly) criticised for being stodgy, safe and very middle aged 'rawk'. It's really hard compiling a list of UK best of 2013 albums really...... everyone with half an ear knows John Grant is the album of 2013.

  12. Ministry of Sound (or MISERY of Sound as it's known in the industry) represents the very lowest denominator of 'dance fan' - the 'dance fan' who votes for Guetta as 'DJ of the Year', who buys the endless trashy MoS compilation albums to blast out of his open windows and the 'dance fan' whose main contribution to the scene is one visit to Ibiza in 2010 and a weekend trip to Creamfields last summer. It's absolutely commercial shit. Also, they seem to be under the misconception that only heterosexual males every buy dance music - when was the last time you saw a male, scantily clad or othwerwise, on a MoS compilation CD cover? Exactly...you haven't. They exclusively use slutty semi-clad busty maidens for their artwork. Cheap and very very nasty.
  13. Agreed, Smurfie - When I Was Your Girl is very meh.... baffling they chose probably the weakest track as a single. Her tour kicks off in Berlin soon, and she's taking it to America as well - great that this album has really rejuvenated the career of one of our best artists. I just wish people would recognise her songwriting and lyrics as m,uch as her voice.... she's a superb writer. The album is still holding up for me... Horizon Flame is just jaw-droppingly great, as is Apple Kisses, Right as Rain and All Signs of Life.
  14. Shame people seem more concerned with her weight than how much of a masterpiece this album is :(
  15. She's a rarity in that she's even better live than on record. I bought cardiff tickets and saw the Bush Hall gig two weeks ago with Guy Sigsworth. The songwriting on this album is truly brilliant. They almost all sound like classic singles.
