  1. I think this album will be A Coral Room parts 1-7. Which is fine by me.

Same here. It was surely impossible for this atrocious 'band' to top the ghastliness of My Humps. With this foul Dirty Dancing-sampling monstrosity.. They almost managed it. Inexcusable.
  3. completely agree - pitiful.
  4. wow... you really can't get much more glowing than that..... I can't wait for this album - the return of the Goddess..... 2011..... what a year.
  5. Stunning....
  6. Nearly all the online reviews, both professional and amateur, have mentioned the awful production.... and I have to agree - the greatest songs are swamped..... the vocals are too far down in the mix and at times, even on the great tracks, it's just a mess.... weird considering the money put behind this album and the people involved.....
  7. I'm appalled that the ONLY 'great' and 'all-time classic' single exited the competition last round..... and this is a seriously embarrassing top 4... SHAKIRA?!? WTF?? Really??? She's had one great single inm her whole career - She Wolf and.. well..that's it. Plus Sugababes naffest ever single, the toe-curlingly ghastly Katy Perry and one of Rihanna's worst ever singles..... Buzzjack..... really?
  8. I think the art deco font is absolutely perfect for the photos used. And pass me the details of this fledgeling designer if this us what their 'first assignment' looks like!
  9. I'm mega surprised - but really grateful! Thanks :o :D

  11. Come on guys - HURTS doing Eurovision? They're way too 'cool' for that... and classy, too. Germany and Russia seems to adore them, too - the UK haven't jumped on board because I think we've kind of seen bands like HURTS many many times before.... as much as I love them, there's not an original thought in their heads - it's all a bit pastiche at times. They're a melting pot of many of my favourite 80s bands..... nothing wrong with that, but that's the way it is. Don't think we can even blame the UK press for ignoring them - they're best mates with the vile Gordon Smart(ass) from The Sun..... he even did a 2-page spread on them the other week when he travelled with them to Russia. And I'm saying this as a person who's seen them live 8 times and who's loved them since getting the promo for Better Than Love many moons ago. My main bugbear with HURTS is that whilst their image etc is cool, detached and fabulous - the stories of the guys printed everywhere paint a far less flattering picture.... they've shagged their way across Europe with a selection of decidedly unpleasant topless models. Very dull. And kind of taints them for me, too.
  12. I'd say revisit it for sure.... the one with Embrace on is their second album..... the first's really hard to get these days and sells for silly money. 'Lover' is fantastic.... in fact, there's only about 2 duffs on the whole album.... sounds amazing in the car, I find :D
  13. Electro - that's another lovely piece of work! http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm76/blissfulignorance_2008/nightshadescopy.jpg
  14. I'd go as far as to say Embrace is one of my favourite ever pop songs - it's just... perfect. As is the new PNAU album (which hasn't been mentioned here yet - shame - it's superb)..... and as was their last album which included Embrace.
  15. nah.completely disagree - the photography is GORGEOUS.... very pre-Raphelite.... which I love. I think the band's logo font is naff.... but the font for the album title, I love.... a bit art-deco - and very similar to the one Goldfrapp used for Supernature. The photography throughout the whole booklet is stunning, I think..... especially the front cover which is just beautifully iconic.

My sentiments exactly... I rue the day the film Mamma Mia came out.... it rubbishes their memory in my view and perpetuates the 'camp wedding disco' muzak tag they're (unfairly) lumbered with. The Day Before You Came is, I think, one of the greatest songs ever written. Astonishingly great - even now 30 years on. And richeyo - interesting that your daughter loves Under Attack - whilst it is one of their later songs, I remember it as being one of their least loved. I'm not that fond of it, either, it seemed a bit of a damp squib - especially when it was, officially, their last ever 'proper' single. I alwaysthought they sounded utterly jaded and bored on it.
  17. when people talk about the world's best singers..... it's bizarre she's never namechecked. Absolutely incredible artist - a voice that can move me to tears with its beauty. Portugal has one of the richest and most interesting music scenes and heritages in the world. From Fado to techno, realy - you really kow how to do it well. Stunning country, too.... Sintra, Cascais, Lisbon.... oh my.....
  18. Katy Perry - surely the obvous choice on a particularly humdrum list...?
  19. I like the new album.... but I don't love it. It's so reminiscent of every Siouxsie and The Banshees and Kate Bush moment... each track sounds like either one of the other - it's all a bit... passe and unoriginal. But..... it's one of the most gorgeous album covers I've ever seen. BEAUTIFUL.
  20. I liked some of the debut album..... but her finest moment remains her guest spot on the jaw-droppingly fabulous 'Embrace' by PNAU (who I actually prefer to their alter-egos Empire of the Sun).
  21. It's probably becaused Portuguese is such a beautiful sounding language..... some of my favourite artists are Portuguese..... Mariza especially - absolutely beautiful.
  22. My thoughts exactly..... her output is so teeth-crunchingly appalling anyway - but Hot n Cold is easily her most ghastly....and it's still in when classic singles have gone. I can only assume people just haven't even noticed she's on the list to vote for her.
  23. I love Queen is Dead... But I really don't think it's a better album than THe Dreaming or Hounds of Love....
  24. Only if you're a backward six year old with both ears stuffed with Haribo Tangfastics.
